Health care bill option: lowering buy-in age for medicare
Medicare-Buy-In-Gaining-Traction-in-Public-Option-Negotiations at Daily KOs
Many commenters like it because it established the principle
of lowering the buy-in age, so could be done again.
Which would actually be GREAT for US businesses!
(See: GM locating in US vs Canada)
This was in Baucus’s paper from fall 2008 that was sensible.
Then it disappears for a year and now it is back.
Time to re-read that paper and see what else is likely to return.
Of course, it only temporarily follows Obama’s dictum of
“No change to your present coverage” for as long as employers do not realize they can fob off insurance of expensive older workers to that option.
Which would actually be GREAT for US businesses!
(See: GM locating in US vs Canada)
Give ’em a mystery object to stalk (feather, string, finger, toe, etc.) and they’re enthusiastic.
Show the whole thing and let them play with it on their own, and it becomes “Eh, how boring!”
One of mine doesn’t even blink at a sudden ‘hand attack’. She just looks at it, then at me with a “WTF is that?” expression.

My niece had a big, husky, gray and black striped cat named Booger. Booger offed a minimum of a bird a day, all neatly laid out on the deck. His best act was leaping on the kitchen counter next to the stove and batting sizzling sausage out of the fryin pan. My sister said old Boog was so quick he never got a grease spatter on his fur!

My cat will chase something that’s under cover, but not if it’s out in the open. It’s a real bitch when she pulls that stunt at night, after we’ve gone to bed.
Or she will do something to get the dog to chase her & when the dog (80 lb. German shepherd) knocks something over & is yelled at, the cat smirks.

When we had little kids (boys), we marked the moment when they were “smarter than a cat” — that is, when, after finding out it was just a hand holding a feather, they weren’t fooled a second time into thinking it was something interesting. It’s identical to the moment when the game of peek-a-boo doesn’t work any more.

What you have with the Peek-a-boo stuff is prey behavior.
It doesn’t matter if it’s an Archie McPhee nun with sparks coming out of her mouth. If it acts like prey, a cat will investigate. (I love the part where the cat freezes when the feather can “see” them.)
