I Just Love This Cat by John Cole| December 7, 20092:08 pm| 64 CommentsThis post is in: Cat Blogging, Open ThreadsFacebookTweetEmail
That’s hilarious. I also love how he has zero interest in the feather when it’s offered directly to him.
That is indeed a cat. Capital A, Capital C. Capital Period.
Jesus, who has floors like that? I know, I know: anyone living in Real America, as opposed to an old adobe in El Norte…
reminds me of the cat we had when I was a kid. He eventually adopted another family and we rarely saw him. But the last time I saw him he was 18 or so, had only 3 working legs and one ear. He was stalking a bird.
Loves it. Thanks John for posting this. I keep checking the site for that cute Jaspanese cat who loves boxes? Cute videos there from time to time.
Maru the Cat.
A true ninja cat would never allow itself to be captured on video. At least that’s my excuse for never posting videos like this one.
kommrade reproductive vigor
Big yellow eyes. Fangs. Oblivion.
The last things rodents and birds see if they come near Ninja Cat.
Ending: Shit! It’s the hand; run away!
That is a wussy cat. He couldn’t take the hand, at all. All the best cats know how to take the hand. I bet Tunch isn’t afraid of the hand.
HOLY CRIPES! Look at the size of those pupils! Too funni.
[edit! now I see the wonder!]
That is a good cat. That is the best cat.
My cat brought me a bird’s head the other day. It was so neatly done I had a hard time believing there was ever a body attached to it.
She left it in the kitchen for me.
Cats can play Simon Says? Who knew!
It should be a law to post something this great for every three depressing threads.
The greatest trick Ninja Cat ever pulled was convincing the world that he could not be caught on video.
Third Eye Open
Ninja Cat is no match for the Pet Spa.
And, as an added bonus, this.
The nobel peace prize is going to a guy while he’s in the middle of escalating a war.
What a bunch of swedish douchnozzles.
Perhaps she’s related to the cat who once left the head and postcranial skeleton of a mouse in my bed for me?
@bystander: Is that “Simon Says”, or “Red Light, Green Light”?
@charles johnson: Nobel may have been Swedish, but the Nobel committee is Norwegian. The only thing a Swede hates more than being mistaken for a Dane, is being mistaken for a Norwegian.
Also, that cat is impressive. I thought it was an editing trick at first freezing the frame.
you must have to be really stoned to watch that video and find it interesting. And I love cats.
That’s what I thought!
Oops, you’re right. It’s red light, green light. Getting my nursery school games mixed up.
OT (from Daily Kos)
Health care bill option: lowering buy-in age for medicare
Medicare-Buy-In-Gaining-Traction-in-Public-Option-Negotiations at Daily KOs
Many commenters like it because it established the principle
of lowering the buy-in age, so could be done again.
Which would actually be GREAT for US businesses!

This was in Baucus’s paper from fall 2008 that was sensible.
Then it disappears for a year and now it is back.
Time to re-read that paper and see what else is likely to return.
Of course, it only temporarily follows Obama’s dictum of
“No change to your present coverage” for as long as employers do not realize they can fob off insurance of expensive older workers to that option.
Which would actually be GREAT for US businesses!

Heh, well watch this,aimai:
I defy you to watch that and not smile.
Yup, just like several of mine.
Give ’em a mystery object to stalk (feather, string, finger, toe, etc.) and they’re enthusiastic.
Show the whole thing and let them play with it on their own, and it becomes “Eh, how boring!”
One of mine doesn’t even blink at a sudden ‘hand attack’. She just looks at it, then at me with a “WTF is that?” expression.
My niece had a big, husky, gray and black striped cat named Booger. Booger offed a minimum of a bird a day, all neatly laid out on the deck. His best act was leaping on the kitchen counter next to the stove and batting sizzling sausage out of the fryin pan. My sister said old Boog was so quick he never got a grease spatter on his fur!
That’s Ninja Cat?
Jeez, by the time he’s poked that feather out the second time, my Berserker Cat has already rounded the corner and is shredding the thing. And she’s 20.
comrade scott's agenda of rage
I’m guessing Tunch doesn’t do this kinda stuff, hence you’re fascination with this cat.
I’ve got *five* fosters right now who aren’t, well Ninja Cat, they’re more like NFL Offensive Line Cats at least in terms of speed and verocity.
My cat will chase something that’s under cover, but not if it’s out in the open. It’s a real bitch when she pulls that stunt at night, after we’ve gone to bed.
Or she will do something to get the dog to chase her & when the dog (80 lb. German shepherd) knocks something over & is yelled at, the cat smirks.
Ninja Cat say: Your karate no match for lighting-swift Ninja Cat.
I recommend a Feline Flyer. Feathers at the end of a stick that rotate. Looks and sounds like a bird. My four go apeshit for that thing and my big guy, Blue, will chew it until it’s dust if I let him keep it after he catches it.
My reaction was: I want that cat. Not like I need another one, but that is obviously a special cat. Plus I haven’t had one in that color yet.
Yeah, well, the only thing a Norwegian hates worse than being mistaken for a Swede is being mistaken for a Dane.
The original Viking raiders were Norwegian, but they told their “hosts” (victims) they were Danes.
Ninja Cat is actually called Moire. And he’s Japanese. So those are gorgeous Japanese floors.
Also (via Babelfish).
“The fat tends to increase.” Oh, yes. Yes, it does. Damn.
@Anne Laurie: Wouldn’t it just be easier to say that they all hate each other? And Finns are just sad that they’re always left out.
Okay, my favorite story of the day is that the NASA guy who made up the dry run for Mooslim hijackers on AirTran is doubling down with TPM despite a thorough debunking. Read it, it’s hilarious:
And not only that, but now Deb Schlussel is claiming AirTran is in on the conspiracy:
what’s so special about those floors ? they look like new pre-finished hardwood.
we just got 1300 sq/ft of it put into our 2nd floor.
Yeah, I was puzzled over that, too. Personally, I prefer my John’s hardwood floors to the ones in the video. They are way too new for my taste. Maybe even Pergo, IMHO.
That is one hella cute cat.
And now that I have posted on-topic… I just saw the most incredible thing on cable TV. I was certain it was a parody but it’s not.
Go here for their current TV spots. The one I saw was the third one down, “Obama’s Socialism”. It’s comically bad (and so is the video compression), but it’s also one of the most blatantly racist bits of political propaganda I’ve ever seen.
what is it with all these cute internet japanese cats?
@aimai: I’ve never been stoned but I’m going to disagree with you. I don’t think even mary jane could make that video interesting.
Off topic, but this could go a long way towards eliminating methane emissions from livestock. Hmmm? Pork Board? Cattleman’s Association? Never mind. More SPAM anyone?
@charles johnson: @aimai: @Corner Stone:
You are all poopy-heads. Go away.
Shut up you infidel cats!
OT – I’m looking forward to wingnut head esploxions re: the EPA ruling that greenhouse gases are bad for you. The one CNN article is chock full already of comments about how the sciencist lied about global warming.
Maybe I’m an idiot, but isn’t EPA’s ruling that CO2 is a pollutant independent of the issue of global warming? This ruling is that CO2 can be a potential public health risk.
Molly periodically flees in terror from that which she is attacking/disembowelling. What it is that the feather or stick did that so suddenly alarmed her is a complete mystery, but then she’s a cat. Cats see and experience things that are in a universe with which we mere mortals have no contact.
I must say that this Ninja Cat stalks with a very boring lack of butt-wiggle.
Mine really get rockin’ with the Kitty Tease.
Best cat toy I’ve ever had.
I am choosing to read this thread in the filthiest way possible. Forgive me.
I love how when the feather actually attacks him in the middle of the video, the cat’s all “meh. Feather?”
What you have with the Peek-a-boo stuff is prey behavior.
It doesn’t matter if it’s an Archie McPhee nun with sparks coming out of her mouth. If it acts like prey, a cat will investigate. (I love the part where the cat freezes when the feather can “see” them.)
Now, a hand holding out a feather? Boooooooooooooring.
@Ash: The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian legislature. The other prizes are awarded by various Swedish organizations.
Aside from your lack of Nordic descriptive accuracy, I would say that it’s the Kenyan who is the douchnozzle in this situation, not so much the hopeful Nobel committee.
Phew! Before the picture came up, I thought it was gonna be that blasted piano-playing youtube cat.

When we had little kids (boys), we marked the moment when they were “smarter than a cat” — that is, when, after finding out it was just a hand holding a feather, they weren’t fooled a second time into thinking it was something interesting. It’s identical to the moment when the game of peek-a-boo doesn’t work any more.
You’re correct. God, do I feel old! Red Light, Green Light it is.
Tea Party Politics
cleek, geg6 and taosjohn, the floors are too freaking CLEAN!
That’s what’s wrong. Who has floors that look like that when they have cats/dogs/kids/people/anything walking around on them?
It’s unnatural and I could hardly see the cat for not being able to tear my eyes away from the floor.
Ya know, the cat knows its a spoof but is trying to make the feather more interesting — hoping against hope that when he runs up its not the same ol same ol fake out…
He has a darling face and I love those big dilated pupils they get when they are turned on by hunting…
When one of my cats Buddy, really catches a mouse or vole, I can tell even without looking at him by the sound he makes playing with it…totally intense and focused with complete body involvement… its unmistakeable…
Cats are amazing creatures from the littlest house cat to the biggest Bengal Tiger — their behavior is so similar and totally evocative of CAT…not matter how big or fierce…
I love em
Yes! Great cat :O)
Love cats. Needed this video. Thanks, Cole.
I need a name for in here
I like the follow up video “Ninja cat moves closer without moving” better.
There goes another 1.5 minutes of my life.
