Sorry, John.
But imagine living in Arizona for 27 years, and having to deal with the Cardinals.

OT: Big-media Ezra is on On Point this hour for the weekly rehash.
Sam
Things are looking up! You almost beat the Browns.
dr. bloor
I didn’t think it was possible for me to dislike the Steelers more than I already did, although you now deserve your own damn ring in hell for making Eric Mangini look vaguely competent.
DanF
Yeah … That was … um … yeah. I mean… Wow.
EdTheRed
Oh, don’t take it so hard. It could be worse: they could have lost to the Chiefs, or even the Raiders…
Napoleon
Jahn (aka John) will be glad to know it is all but a national holiday here in Cleveland.
Comrade Tudor
I mean seriously…the Browns…I heard that on the radio on the way to work this morning and immediately thought of how bad that must suck for you. Of course, I can’t really brag, being a Panthers fan and all.
Punchy
Not just beat, but Worthlessberger took at least 6 (maybe 7?) sacks. Jenna Jameson isnt on her back that much. Slow as fuck in the pocket.
Thank GOD I took his worthless ass outtie my fantasy lineup.

As a Browns fan I gotta get this off my chest: “I am the king! Bring me your finest meats and cheeses for a clubhouse feast!”

@Bret: Being a Bills fan has been worse over the last 10 years – and we had a worse loss to the Browns earlier this year (possibly the worst professional football game ever).
Svensker
@West of the Cascades:
Both teams should have been given points for dullest game ever.
John PM
I hate to point this out, but if the Bears somehow manage to beat the Packers on Sunday, they and the Steelers will have the same record, but the Bears will actually be better since they beat the Steelers earlier in the season, as well as the Browns, and only lost to Cincinnati once.
That is all.
Morbo
Whoever keeps saying Polamalu > Roethlisberger is of course correct. The absence of one is definitely more of a hole in the team than the other.
Max
@West of the Cascades:
I’d expand that and say since Jim Kelly retired. Go K-gun. Although as I mentioned on an earlier thread, those four lost Superbowl’s in a row were hard to swallow.
I wish Old Man Wilson would let Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas buy the team like they want to. I really think they could turn it around.

I’m sorry for your loss, John. I watched the whole thing and was quite amazed. If it’s any consolation, just know that I don’t think I can watch the Redskins-Raiders game this weekend, after last week’s excrutiating loss to the who-dat Saints, including the interception turned fumble turned Saints TD at the end of the half, the missed 23-yard FG, and the….
Crusty Dem
OT (and I assume Jahn would appreciate that), after the game last night (go PST) I finally got around to watching “The Dark Knight”. Am I the only person in the Western Hemisphere to find it almost unwatchably bad? Not that I didn’t like the action, but the plotting, general writing, and acting was awful. Although special awards go to the plotting, since the actions of the characters ranged from unreasoned to completely implausible (a bad sign when the only character behaving in a reasonably plausible manner is the Joker).
I suspect the accolades for Heath Ledger were 1) due to sympathy and 2) relative to the other actors, who were uniformly bad..
Kryptik
Yeah, Polamalu seems to be the keystone of that defense, and without that….geez.
You think next week, they’re put in Dixon?
Zoogz
No sympathy from this Lions fan either. For heaven’s sake, we had to actually import the Steelers to Michigan for one cold February night a couple years back just to see a champion play and win. (And it was startling how much of a home game it turned out to be for the Steelers too.)
NobodySpecial
As a Lions fan, I’d like to thank Pittsburgh for getting us one step closer to Suh.
Sam
Crusty Dem,
Besides Ledger, that movie is terrible. Absolutely terrible. It is unreasonable that it is so highly praised.

I love your blog, but as someone raised in Cleveland, hating the Pittsburgh Steelers was a form of cultural identity on par with saluting the flag during the memorial day parade. Yesterday was a happy day.

@EdTheRed: Win.
(Born w/in eight miles or so of Alameda County Colosseum, me. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)

Had a good friend call me at bout 1130 or so last night & congratulate me on the Browns win. I thought she was joking at first!
Man, even though I hate both Quinn & Mangini, I’m glad we got a win, especially over the Steelers.
Merry Christmas
Ken
@Noonan: Noonan, finest meats and cheeses, indeed. Don’t forget the wenches; make that saucy wenches..

@Punchy:
It was 8 sacks, but who’s counting? Oh yeah, I am. As a Baltimore fan whose team is going nowhere, the only pleasure the season holds for me is seeing the Steelers lose, especially when Big Ben gets to lie in the dirt.
Crusty Dem
@Sam:
Thanks, Sam, I was a little concerned it was just me. Wouldn’t be the first time, but considering I generally like the dumb action movies, I was a little surprised that I found it “too dumb”.
Great link, btw, I saw it earlier this week, it’s actually what reminded me to go rent it… After actually seeing the movie, I’d say they nailed it.

@Sam:
Wooot! I am not the only one seriously underwhelmed by The Dark Knight. Whew. I just thought it failed on so many levels.
@EdTheRed: Cold and cruel, but oh so funny (and true).
R-Jud
@asiangrrlMN:
Count me in as being totally underwhelmed by TDK. I was seriously distracted, in a bad way, by Maggie Gyllenhaaaaaaaaaaal’s bouncing lady-pillows in one scene where she and Christian Bale are walking and talking in a corridor. That’s pretty much the only thing I remember from the movie that wasn’t Heath Ledger.
Exurban Mom
Merry Christmas, Cleveland! You can bet I’m rocking the orange and brown today.
If the Browns don’t start paying Joshua Cribbs what he’s worth, we’re going to lose him, and that would suck, because
Cribbs > pretty much every other player on that team.
Plus, he’s a paragon of a man off the field:

Thank’s for link, Exurban Mom, story brought a tear to my eye.
Josh Cribbs is one cool dude. If we let him get away, Mr. Lerner may find out that people up there start comparing him to Art Modell.
Dave Anderson
Do not, repeat, do not bring up the Raiders loss. I was at Heinz Field for that game, and it was even worse to watch in person than on TV as I was with 62,000 other people waiting for the Steelers to fail….
I have sympathy for the Lions now.
asiangrrlMN
@R-Jud: Lady-pillows? Like that one. A friend and I were talking about sweater puppies, and I said mine would be basset hounds.
Exurban Mom, that was a beautiful story. Thanks for the link.
blondie
As a Cardinal fan, we would like to extend our hearty appreciation for McFadden. And the Whiz. And all the other little Steelers who have moved west . . . .
Kathy
Jeebus, The Browns lost to the Lions.
arguingwithsignposts
@asiangrrlMN:
LOL. And is that on a t-shirt somewhere?
Chuck Butcher
With a half century of being a Browns fan I can tell you that they consistently break your heart. They are the almost team, almost win Super Bowls, almost win Championships, almost win, almost, almost … goddam almost.
I can’t work up to any sympathy for Steelers fans.
asiangrrlMN
@arguingwithsignposts: No, but it should be!
Yutsano
@asiangrrlMN: I smell financial opportunity here! Plus I think you’re selling yourself short. I do feel evil for laughing out loud though.
asiangrrlMN
@Yutsano: Why do you feel evil? It was meant to be funny. And, yeah…hm….t-shirt idea!
Crusty Dem
Ok, John, I think you were watching some weird CGI version of the game. See, the game you were watching wasn’t real and the Steelers really won. Mendenhall and Roethlisberger were just too much for Cleveland to handle..
Yutsano
@asiangrrlMN: I’mma thinking there’s some potential there for sure. And yeah I do feel evil cause I generally don’t like to mock another person’s body even if the person is mocking the body. There’s no way of saying that outside of word salad so I’m gonna give up trying. How’s life?
asiangrrlMN
@Yutsano: It was funny, though. You have to admit that. Eh. Life is life. Did you see I proposed to a thread below? The conservative/conservative one. That was funny.
Yutsano
@asiangrrlMN: I cannot stand to having you espoused to a conservative. Nope. Not gonna do it. Though I did see the thread accepted.
asiangrrlMN
@Yutsano: Heh. Heh. We gotta shake things up a bit in the family.
Dean Booth
Go Browns! Oh happy day! Finally!
…It’s odd that when they won, I thought of your pain, John. So sorry. It’s harder to lose when you have hope.
