Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

They don’t have outfits that big. nor codpieces that small.

Republicans in disarray!

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“But what about the lurkers?”

Humiliatingly small and eclipsed by the derision of millions.

This country desperately needs a functioning fourth estate.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

The “burn-it-down” people are good with that until they become part of the kindling.

So many bastards, so little time.

The press swings at every pitch, we don’t have to.

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Donald Trump found guilty as fuck – May 30, 2024!

With all due respect and assumptions of good faith, please fuck off into the sun.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

People are weird.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

The republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Books are my comfort food!

This GOP URL thing could turn out to be teh awesome, as some of you have pointed out:

thiscouldgetugly

With Allah as my witness, the animated Michael Steele was saying “Notice something different?” as I took that screen grab.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Damned liberals.

But seriously – who in their right mind clicks on a deliberately obscured url? Are actual people that trusting? Darwin awards in progress.

A couple weeks ago I spent several very long days helping a local organization clean a virus out of a network with 1300 computers and a few dozen servers. Someone had clicked on something without thinking, it infected executables on a few servers, and the next morning everyone had it. Oh, sure, their fourth-tier crappy antivirus didn’t help matters. If it were some home user I’d just laugh, but when someone destroys that much productivity, exposes that much information… well, there need to be real consequences for active stupidity.

So I’m not clicking on any of these, though I’m sure the typical BJ crowd isn’t linking to malware pages or phishing sites, and anyone who sends me a url like this in real life is landing on my spam list.

Well, aren’t you a special and unique snowflake. Look, if you’re not running a fucked up POS browser like IE in a fucked up OS like Windows 7 which still has no privilege separation then this isn’t a problem. This is only a problem on Windows boxen because Windows boxen have broken security and are about as secure as UNIX systems were 20 years ago. Oh, and the organization you did the work for, sounds as if their IT staff are a bunch of idiots who didn’t bother to implement a defense in depth strategy with a firewall, an application proxy an IDS and virus scanner and active virus scanning on the desktop. Talk about Darwin Awards in progress, someone ought to award one to the IT staff who set up this network.

Just to take the grotesquely inappropriate 9/11 metaphor a little further: this would be like someone saying “no one could have predicted terrorists would hijack airplanes and use them as weapons”… if that someone had founded an airline that catered to thrill-seeking passengers by handing them the controls upon request, and only offered flights within the New York city limits. And the stated purpose of the airline was to annoy liberals.

Huh, that’s weird. I tried inputting Stormfront.org, but the result just ended up being the regular GOP homepage.

    Odd, that…

He also admitted to fucking watermelons. I guess the sight of those Rubenesque melons lying there, hot and inviting, naked and sun-kissed, foliage seductively covering their sensuously rotund shapes, was just too much for ol’ Neal and he lost control of himself.

Probably pissed him off that every time he holed a melon he would see that someone had already shot their seed. I’m guessing Neal had nothing against sloppy seconds. ;)

SMARTech Corp of Chattanooga TN has been the GOP’s webservice provider for at least a decade now. Allegedly, about a year, year and a half ago they had some shuffles in their company personnel.

About a year, year and a half ago the GOP websites started becoming jokes.

I’m beginning to suspect that SMARTech won’t get the next contract renewal.
