Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

So very ready.

Fundamental belief of white supremacy: white people are presumed innocent, minorities are presumed guilty.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

It’s all just conspiracy shit beamed down from the mothership.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

The low info voters probably won’t even notice or remember by their next lap around the goldfish bowl.

Democracy cannot function without a free press.

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

When you’re in more danger from the IDF than from Russian shelling, that’s really bad.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Prediction: the gop will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Speaker Mike Johnson is a vile traitor to the House and the Constitution.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Oppose, oppose, oppose. do not congratulate. this is not business as usual.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

Let me file that under fuck it.

One week ago today I lost my sweet boy, Quiver. I was never a cat person, but I met Quiver 6 years ago and fell for him like a ton of bricks. I was just crazy about him, and I miss him terribly.

Here is a link to some pictures of my sweet boy:

Now since this appears to be a real OT compared to the last open thread that was about Chris and Darcy, I’m going to ask a question about what type of alcohol do you add to egg nog and what type of alcohol do you add to hot apple cider. Hopefully it’s the same.

    Clown shoes:

A self-styled Nevada codebreaker convinced the CIA he could decode secret terrorist targeting information sent through Al Jazeera broadcasts, prompting the Bush White House to raise the terror alert level to Orange (high) in December 2003, with Tom Ridge warning of “near-term attacks that could either rival or exceed what we experience on September 11,” according to a new report in Playboy.

Maybe clown shoes is being too nice.

@WaterGirl: My heart breaks for you, what a lovely animal Quiver was. I never thought I’d be a cat person either—til three of them marched in (several years apart) and took over. I’m especially empathetic because it won’t be long before I have to go through it again.

And General, I’m glad I didn’t notice Charlie was missing before he returned, I get almost as upset about others’ animals as I do my own, and I’m too damned old for the stress.

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakuh, Merry X-Mas, Happy Pagan New Year, whatevah…

I am sooooooooo glad this year is almost over. I finally get to go back home to NOLA and get the hell outta Dallas for a while, and II”m officially on vay-kay next Monday. I’m counting down the ways.

Anyway, I plan to completely forget about this healthcare bill, til next year. This healthcare bill has become like the abortion issue. Both sides have reasons why they are right, your either for it or against, for those who are truly in the middle, who is at least willing to see the good as well as acknowledge the bad, there is no use in arguing with people who refuse to even consider a middle way pro or con.

BTW, still mad bout that Cowboys/Saints game. I can’t even watch the local news to see who’s been shot, without hearing ’bout it. Someone gonna have to tell me when it’s safe to come out again.

I love seeing the fam, especially my nephews, but I would love it if my parents would decide to retire somewhere that didn’t require an hour’s drive to go see a movie.

This post makes me sound like I’m twenty-something, sad to say I’ve been making this journey (albeit from other places in the country) for twenty some odd years. There better be single malt scotch in my stocking. ;-)

It looks like the ACORN “stings” and the SwiftHack have inspired pro-lifers to try their own hit job on Planned Parenthood by sending a pair of women in pretending to seek abortions. Endless wanking about the need for tougher anti-abortion laws will undoubtedly ensue.
