Jesus what a stupid fucking dipshit. I mean really, what else is there to say?
(And can I just say I’m really glad you decided to go Galt on taking a break.)
ruemara
Damn. I think I’ll take a break, since you won’t.
kommrade reproductive vigor
WTF Cole, are you measuring your weeks in mayfly time or what?
Anyhoo, everyone will be watching this.
MikeJ
Take a break.
Shade Tail
Augh! No, Mr. Cole! Break! Relaxation! Find amusement elsewhere!
I posted this in your last article, but how about laughing at classic Red State Strike Farce? “Operation Leper“. Go nominate a RINO of your own.
Tim I
Ed Schultz is always bouncing back and forth between Progressive advocacy and blustery bullshit. He is bringing some super-rich Republican asshole on his show to whine about Wall Street bonuses!
WTF is that about? Has Ed gone FDL? Or is he just an idiot?
Jim
Dood, if you’re going to take a break, break first with cable news. Don’t you have a lot of dumb stuff stored up on your TiVO? Some myteries or scifi or comic novels to read? Crosswords puzzles? some housecleaning you’ve been putting off for three years? Or is that just me?
Even when I’m engaged in politics I can’t watch Scultz or Hardball.

@Tom Hilton:
Agreed. Ur in ur bukkit wifholdin ur wifholdin. Very meta of you.

@kommrade reproductive vigor:
That’s bad and will likely get worse.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — A strong earthquake hit the impoverished country of Haiti on Tuesday afternoon, where a hospital collapsed and people were screaming for help. Other buildings also were damaged.
The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 and was centered about 14 miles (22 kilometers) west from the capital of Port-au-Prince, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

”Everybody is just totally, totally freaked out and shaken,” said Henry Bahn, a visiting official with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. ”The sky is just gray with dust.”

I’m grumpy too.
Ed Schutlz’s voice is an instrument of torture. Breathe dude.
Chuck Butcher you around?
kommrade reproductive vigor
This Darrell Issa. Also.
Keep a bukkit handy folks. When the fReichtards start wanking over manly man stud rock star presidential material Issa you don’t want to get puke all over your shoes, carpet our housepets.

I think next time I need to get something done I’m going to use John Cole’s method and say “I’m taking a break from X”. Just to be sure that I then devote as much possible time to pursuing “X” as possible.
That’s it, I’m taking a break from becoming rich and having fun all the time!

@kommrade reproductive vigor:
God, those poor people.

I can barely tell the difference between attacks from the left and attacks on the right anymore. They both use the same language and framing. We have been surrounded by assholes.

@SiubhanDuinne:
Looks like Haiti’s long run of good luck might have hit a rough patch.
AnotherBruce
How can we miss you if you won’t go away?
SiubhanDuinne
@SIA:
This. I don’t often watch Ed Schultz (usually I’m still at work or doing my evening commute when he’s on, and am long asleep by the time MSNBC reruns his show) but the handful of times I have seen/heard him I thought, I don’t care how aligned his views are with mine, he sounds like the liberal answer to the Beck/Hannity/Limbaugh crowd and I just don’t need to assault my eardrums or my brain with that. I was able to put up with 5 or 10 minutes of him last week when we had the snow day and I was home all day, but I’m pretty sure I moved on to TV Land or Food Network or some up-dial channel pretty quickly.

@slag:
Ur in ur bukkit wifholdin ur wifholdin.
Kinda damn brilliant!
And @ John Cole: Over in the last post, I offered you Abraham Lincoln seed art, Eddie Izzard, painted Pakistani trucks, Three Dog Night, loud music, country music, dance music, and Abbott and Costello. Good lord man, what does it take to distract you?
SiubhanDuinne
@Pangloss: Okay, I know I’m going to fry in hell, but that made me spit-laugh.
Tom Hilton
@Bill E Pilgrim: I’d love to respond in detail, but I have to go take a break from work.
DCPlod
John, as ever, is a law unto himself. The vast majority of people try and find excuses to take a break, not to avoid taking one.
Bill E Pilgrim
@Tom Hilton: It’s okay because I really have to take a break from sleep pretty soon anyway. About an eight hour break….
Zifnab
@SiubhanDuinne:
I always considered John Stewart the liberal answer to Beck / Hannity / Limbaugh.
He’s tiny, mild mannered, and likable. Add female to that, and he’d be the exact polar opposite to Limbaugh.
SIA
@ SiubhanDuinne
He really exhausts me
Hope all is well kn your world!
Your post on Haiti reminds me how spoiled I am indulging in my crabby mood.
WaterGirl
@ellaesther: If it makes you feel any better, I saw that on the last thread and decided I could use to see some happy things so I went to the link. So even if John is ignoring you, your link didn’t go to waste. :-)
SiubhanDuinne
@Zifnab:
Tinkerbelle, except for the mild mannered and likable part.
SiubhanDuinne
@Zifnab:
On reflection, I should not have said “the liberal answer to B/H/L” — I should have said something like “the liberal counterpart” or something like that. What can I say, it’s been a long tiring and difficult day (a dear friend/colleague was just told her position has been eliminated, and I’m distressed about that).
MikeJ
Not at all. Stewart still has a lot of the “a pox on both their houses” attitude. Which is fine for a comedian. He is not pushing a point of view.
I suppose you could say that anybody who is honest is a liberal and is doing good for the liberal cause, but that doesn’t make him the opposite of Limbaugh et al.
SiubhanDuinne
@SIA:
Likewise same thing right backatcha, SIA! Yeah, except for some crap going on at work, I’m fine. Must must MUST get out of here soon and go home. Will check in later tonight from the ‘Berry.

Gina Bellman.
Naked. In John’s bed. (Necessary edit)

@WaterGirl: Thank you! I do appreciate it.
Honestly, I don’t know how he does this gig. I would lose my mind.
kay
They’re getting played. I’m sorry to see that.

Is Ed simply a well-meaning dumbass or is he a headcase like Hamsher? Honestly, Darrell Issa? I’d put him on the same plane as Grover Norquist. Is the message “don’t assume your nominal allies are all that smart or don’t have personality issues?”
Tax Analyst
You mean Darrell Iss-a-asshole? No wonder you’re grumpy.
But seriously, John, that wasn’t much of a break. I read you’re “I’m taking a break” thread, did a little work, went to lunch, and now you’re back from your “break”. It was almost shorter than my lunch break today.
Perry Como
I hate Issa and I hate Geithner. Root for injuries?
maus
@Zifnab:
If you’re not going for opposites, Olbermann is the most hotheaded, obnoxious, and sloppy (reporting-wise) dude we’ve got. Just because I often agree with him, doesn’t mean that I enjoy being yelled at or beaten over the head.
Leelee for Obama
@Perry Como: This made me spit on my screen! Windex alert!
I have decided to take a break from getting my ass in gear and creating some art. Fingers crossed!

…Rachel Maddow?
I’m really confused where this conversation is going D:
Chuck Butcher
@SIA:
Hi SIA – grandson Brayden keeping me occupied a bit – and then some.
Ed doesn’t give Obama and the the rest a free pass, but neither does he ally himself with the right. Issa has been yelling about the banks for some time, somebody have a problem with yelling about the banks? It was pretty clear they came at the issue from different directions.
Guess what the fuck, it is nearly a year and a half since the bankers their ilk ran this show into the wall and…business as usual? Somebody here figures the Democrats ought to get a free pass to do to financial reform what they did to health care “reform?” Oh yeah, “not as bad as” will get you real far at fixing problems and/or getting re-elected.
Keeping the heat on and putting (R)s into play as part of the discussion isn’t exactly stupid. If you’ve got (R)s out there crying foul along with you, it looks a lot more partisan when they lockstep against you after the fact.

Georgia Pig:
Ed Schultz is a well-meaning dumbass. Or, more precisely, he knows damn good and well what plays to the leftie crowd, and he knows media. Hell, he may actually be a “leftie” himself, for all I know.
But man, the Big Eddie schtick is grating, and the bastard just doesn’t know very much. And he won’t read anything, either. So that means the Issa interview is likely to be a trainwreck: Issa will spew a hundred already-debunked GOP talking points, and Ed will either let them fly past, or complain about some nitpicky detail that does nothing to enlighten the viewer. Root for injuries, indeed.
Chuck Butcher
@stickler:
hell yeah, throw rocks at Ed before seeing the interview because … gasp … he has a GOPer on his show. You mean Ed might say something critical of the idea that Democrats might do nothing of substance on financial reform?
ok
Mnemosyne
@Chuck Butcher:
Sure, Darrell Issa helped recall Gray Davis, claimed that the families who testified against the Blackwater shooters were lying, and complained that New York got too much money after 9/11, but I’m sure he’s going to do the right thing this time!
Chuck Butcher
CA’s asshattery regarding its governors is less than anything I care about – really and a GOPer vs (D) is real damn surprising in any version of reality.
You didn’t see me standing up for shit regarding Issa other than that he’s yelled about banks. But what the hell, I’m sure the Liebercrats can deal with this and Ed should just shut the fuck up. Ed, unlike the rest of the media, lets GOPers come on his show and say whatever they like – unchallenged.
ok
Chuck Butcher
@Mnemosyne:
Actually, let me be even clearer. I live in Oregon and I pretty much like living in Oregon. I don’t want California laws, I don’t want Calfornia Representatives, I don’t want California politics. and I don’t really want more Californians – thank you anyhow. What I do hope is that Oregon looks at California sinking in its sea of stupidity and learns from it rather than aping it.
I lived in the N Bay Area for four years at the end of the 70s and left the state then.
SIA
@Chuck Butcher: Was just thinking about you – picked up my 30-year chip today. Woohoo! (God I’m old).
Sounds fun – playing with your grandbaby!
Mnemosyne
@Chuck Butcher:
Or maybe Ed could have someone on his show who’s rational and can offer a few actual solutions.
Of course, why bother having someone like Eliot Spitzer on your show to give people actual information when when you can have Darryl fucking Issa on to spout his uninformed bile?
