I’m a fan of the phrase “majestic petulance.” That basically sums up all of Washington, when you think of it.

Roberts is such a classless douche. No wonder he gets on so well with Nino, Uncle Clarence and Strip Search Sammy. What a crybaby.
Cat Lady
They can dish it out but they sure can’t take it. Conservatives – chubby cheeked thumb sucking mommy boys who are oh so brave hiding behind their lifetime sinecures and daughter’s skirts. C’mon Dems – fucking kick them in their shrivelled nuts, and put the boot on their soft pencil necks. C’MON!
Mike Kay
too funny, as the phrase also applies to elitist bloggers like Greenwald.
andy
Wow, what a pig, what a prig!
Completely off subject did anybody else see Ed just now calling the Democrats to “pass the damn bill”?
beatty
oh please, let’s not lose our gourds and start in on another unproductive, nasty thread against glen greenwald.

Yeah, right after he slapped Kucinich in the face and threw him under THE bus.

I read that as “majestic flatulence”.
It still worked.
Comrade Mary
Ed’s been pushing to PTDB for a while now. Meanwhile, whatsisface subbing for Keith last night (O’Donnell, right?) practically fellated Kuchinich in absentia for his principled opposition the previous night and mused that if K. had been present at the Republican sit down, with all his facts and integrity and stuff, Obama might have fared quite differently.

@BrighidG:
I read it as “Majestic Pestulence”

@Max: You forgot the specious attacks on Greenwald’s alleged fiscal association with Jane Hamsher, and Mike Kay’s accusations that he abuses alkyl nitrates.

I am not going to bash Glenn Greenwald in this thread. I am not going to bash Glenn Greenwald in this thread. I am not going to bash Glenn Greenwald in this thread. I am not going to bash Glenn Greenwald in this thread.

OT but here’s a fun fact I learned from NPR while driving home this evening:
Wolverines are one of the largest members of the Weasel family.
That is just so right.

Roberts was just surprised, is all.
Based on the example of Clarence Thomas, he expected all Negroes to remain mute in his presence.
eemom
@Instantly Moderated Commenter:
if you had read the thread you’re referring to, you would know that the “attacks” were not specious at all. Evidence to the contrary unfolded in real time — but of course, His Zillaness was long gone by then.
Mike Kay
@Comrade Mary: O’Donnell has a chip on his shoulder. He was chief of staff of the Senate Finance committee in 1994 when Clinton’s attempt at universal health care failed. He’s tied to that outcome, as he occupied a significant role, and a big part of him hates that others might succeed where he failed.
Comrade Mary
@Mike Kay: Ahhhhhh. Very interesting factoid and interpretation, thanks.

Pontifical Petulance.

There is nothing “majestic” about it…

@gbear:
Heard that too. So should we be looking forward to the wingnuts yelling “Weasels!” ?

@Mike Kay:
He’s been such a negative ned since the beginning (last year) I want HCR to pass just to spite him.

Why is anyone surprised by this Supreme Court gauleiter? We are deeply and truly fucked! Gawd, I hate these bastards!
Cacti
In a free and democratic society, one co-equal branch of government criticizing another isn’t “very troubling”.
“Very troubling” would be if President Obama had said…
“John Roberts has made his decision, now let him enforce it.”
gbear
@Violet: I think we’ll have to remind them. Big weasels.

It’s a community that has convinced itself there is something “glorious” about being an asshole.

you sure you weren’t thinking metastatic pustulants … that seems to be more fitting.

Somehow, when I saw the phrase “Majestic Petulance” and then looked at the picture of Tunch, it all started to make sense.
Mike Kay
@Cacti: The funny part is republicans have been running and trashing the supreme court since 1940s. They started trashing the joint when FDR’s appointees took control, and they they went friggin nutz over Earl Warren and desegregation, and for the last 30 years, the fundies single focus has been overturning Roe v Wade. I mean, Reagan bashed the court over Roe countless times.
FlipYrWhig
@SpotWeld:
Yes, they are a bunch of glory holes.
El Cid
@Comrade Mary:
This is a terribly inaccurate summary of the interview. Those interested can watch it on iTunes or on the MSNBC website.
In no way did O’Donnell compliment Kucinich’s view. He simply asked Kucinich the basic questions, asked where he stood, and allowed him to speak.
If anything, O’Donnell exhibited barely disguised contempt held in check by the higher impulse to be polite and let the Congressman speak for himself.
In no way was that “fellating” Kucinich, and I’m really shocked that anyone could be unaware enough to see it that way.
Unless you think it was O’Donnell’s responsibility to do more than put Kucinich on the record for his position as opposed to outlining what his position should have been.
2th&nayle
@Mike Kay: Yeah, O’Donell hates Obama because there’s some chance that he might actually manage to get something passed that Clinton couldn’t! Excuse me, only in a wingnut reality does that make any sense. Climb back in the spaceship, have a sandwich and a nap, and get back to us.
Comrade Mary
@El Cid: I’m not talking about the interview: I’m talking about the admiring way he described the guy the next night when Kuchinich wasn’t there.
Comrade Kevin
@2th&nayle: Mike Kay has a habit of saying stuff like that. I can’t decide if he just has his head up his ass, or if he’s doing it intentionally.

@Cat Lady: If this sack-kicking and neck-stomping occurs, I will run immediately to my election board and register ‘Dem’–I’ve been waiting for this since unaffiliating in 1997.
Ruckus
@SpotWeld:
You are talking about the community of conservatives correct?
They show how glorious their assholyness is at all times and from every vantage point possible.
El Cid
@Comrade Mary: “Admiring”? Are you kidding? His guest was Markos Moulitsas, and O’Donnell did no more than describe Kucinich’s view as the “sharpest” criticism, says it would have been very different had Kucinich been on the Republican side of the table, and then lobs one to Markos right over the net by asking him what Kucinich’s view mattered.
Again, to describe O’Donnell as “fellating” Kucinich by describing Kucinich’s remarks plainly before letting Markos tear it apart and further went on to ask Moulitsas whether or not a primary challenge [apparently the deadline has already passed though] might be in the cards is unjustified to the point of being absurd.
Anyone can watch the clip in question right here.
Your characterization of O’Donnell’s characterization of Kucinich and his remarks is, again, completely wrong and unfair to O’Donnell, and, I don’t know, maybe you were just angry because O’Donnell didn’t take it on as his responsibility to attack Kucinich’s views — and O’Donnell, remember, is the guy who rather frequently mocked the notion of including a public option in the bill until such time as it actually passed in the House bill — rather than prompting his guest to do it.
Joseph Nobles
Robert’s appearance at UA will be on C-Span after the House adjourns. It may be late tonight, and it’s scheduled after a Senate Homeland Security committee hearing that lasted one hour and fifteen minutes. But it will eventually show, and once it does, it will be available at this link:
John Roberts at University of Alabama
Mike Kay
@Comrade Kevin: Dude, I’m not the one calling myself “comrade”
arguingwithsignposts
@El Cid: I am in agreement. I don’t think the term “fellating” applies here. O’Donnell has become a much better fill-in than when he started. He mostly lets the guests say their piece. His questions are much shorter than KO’s (who has a habit of making a speech every time he asks a f**king question).
fledermaus
A petulant pustule of perceived persecution.

Comrade Mary
@El Cid: OK, I’ll go and play the link tonight after I get my basement ready for an inspection tomorrow. But I was so annoyed by the first part of what O’Donnell said that I walked away during the Kos interview, so I didn’t see that setup re a primary.

Majestic doesn’t quite work. Majestic brings to mind beautiful mountains, oceans, etc. Imperial petulance or grandiose petulance are better fits.
Niques
Self-righteous petulance?
Bill H
@arguingwithsignposts:
Yes. KO is entertaining, in his own rather boneheaded way, but O’Donnell comes much closer to objective news anchor. I hate that KO is going through the difficult time that he is, but if MSNBC gave O’Donnell his own show I would totally watch it. (Although once in a while he loses his temper, and that is not pretty.)
Corner Stone
@Bill H:
C’mon man. O’Donnell is horribly slanted but just in his own way.
Not objective.
Corner Stone
@arguingwithsignposts:
I hate that. He pre-ambles for a good three sentences and then gets to his question.
Jim Once
@Bill H:
I’m an O’Donnell – it happens with some frequency in family circles – and you’re right, it is not pretty. But it is well worth watching.

@Corner Stone:
@Bill H:
just for the record, rachel maddow is waaaaay more accepting of opposing viewpoints on her show than KO. that’s his weakness, IMHO. He only allows people on who agree with him. Rachel goes out of her way to contact and try to get on people who disagree with her. And yet, between her, KO, and Jon Stewart – that’s all we have in terms of real journalism on the cable outlets. Sad.
Just Some Fuckhead
@Jim Once: Zat you, Rosie?

@Mike Kay: Are you new around here or something? You definitely are not aware of all Balloon Juice traditions.

Judges basically like to have the last word. They get used to it and get testy when their authority is questioned.
I know this because I used to live with one and had a lot of them around the house.
But anyway, it ain’t no big deal one way or the other. This is blogchurn and cable tv bullshit stuff. Nothing to see here.
Instantly Moderated Commenter
@Comrade Kevin: New. And somewhat insufferable.
But this place has had worse, to say the least.

@Comrade Mary:
Okay, you do know that a factoid is a false piece of information?
Just checking.
Because Mike Kay is obviously pulling shit out of his ass.
IronyAbounds
The real irony is the fact that the Roberts faction of the Court is so deferential to the Executive Branch being able to do whatever it damn well pleases, at least when it is a Republican Executive Branch. That is truly what is so troubling to an ostensibly free society.
asiangrrlMN
I read that as ‘majestic flatulence’–which works well, too.

I see why you people get pets. They’re probably much more pleasant than dealing with this politics stuff. Too bad I won’t be able to get a cat/dog for a few years ; ;.
