OMFG, MSM douchieness continues. Tonight’s Snideline intro re the passage of HCR, (and I’m paraphrasing here) “Obama passes health care reform, but at what cost?” JFC, like I just remembered why I don’t watch ABC ‘news’ anymore. Still peddling the Village line about the Republicans being sincere in their desire for bipartisanship? I hope Terry Moran’s voicebox rots, that soulless piece of shit shill. Roger Ailes runs ABC news too?

In MW2 land, I finished mastering the TAR-21. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I’m 97 kills away from the 1K kill challenge for it and the holo sight is my best attachment.
It occurred to me today that a funny idea would be a Tunch plush stuffed animal. I think it’d sell millions, lol.
If you like vampire books, or even if you don’t, this is the real thing – stunning characterisation and characters you really care about, an edge of your seat plot and lovely (and entirely non-gratuitous) lashings of the old ultra-violence.
I was in Sweden in January 1984 on business, before “99 Luftballons” got airplay in the US. My co-workers and I were watching a music show on TV; I thought it was a song contest like Eurovision, but I don’t think that was the one. Anyway, it was definitely the standout on the show. Hearing it when we got back to the States made me feel like I was in on a secret before everyone else.
Edit: The translation of the German version. It’s much different from the English version.

Has Chuck Todd always been such an impatient, interrupting tool? He’s hosting Countdown tonight and stepping all over his guests. He even finished off an interview with Steny Hoyer by asking about basketball, and when the guy tried to answer, Chuck was all “Mmm-hmm”, “OK” “Right” after 2 seconds.

@ellaesther: I’ve been dying to get you in an open thread: I ordered a L’shanah Tovah honey jar for a wedding present for a friend of mine. The artwork is Armenian and the jar itself is nothing short of gorgeous. That turned out not to be the coolest part of the present however. The jar was made in Israel by Armenian Jews, so it came wrapped in Israeli newspaper. I thought it was just too awesome so I’m gonna leave it wrapped like that for her. She’ll get just as much of a hoot out of it as I did.
@Tattoosydney: The polyesters shall not have died in vain. Think of the animals, think of the animals. Oh and there had better be a NANCY SMASH!! shirt soon dammit.
It occurred to me today that a funny idea would be a Tunch plush stuffed animal.
Life-size? I do need a comfy new couch.

there are no innocent polyesters, they were all born guilty of being polyesters, and this is a pan-religious belief, one that goes for non-religious persons as well….
even boehner wouldn’t filibuster a condemnation of polyesters, except for the fact that he is in the pocket of the polyester lobby.

If you really want a truly German experience, it has to be Wolfgang Petry. Watch one video, may Wahnsinn or Ganz oder Gar Nicht, and no but no one will hassle the Hoff. Also Kuessen Verboten. The Germans have odd musical tastes.

@t jasper parnell: Try some East German punk sometime. Now THAT is some far out there stuff. I have a friend who defected to East Germany in the 80’s. He still listens to whatever he can get his hands on. Oh and he still has an old Trabant sitting in a friend’s garage in East Berlin. It apparently even to this day still runs. He’s seriously considering getting it shipped over to the US unless he decides to go back over there (which he considered if the health care thing didn’t work out or if Grandpa won).

I thought Joseph Cao (R-LA) was supposed to be one of the sane ones. Guess not.

@Snarky Pickles: There are no sane ones. He’ll be out of a job soon, if it’s any consolation.

For those of you into multicultural clashes, here’s a video from my last show.

uh oh, the mime’s are missing. Do NOT look behind you.

@scav:
Those mimes … they were not joking! I wonder whatever happened to old “fax you my credenza” guy, anyway?

Ah, SHIT. I forgot to upload that one.

and, if it’s to be Europe in the 80s, here’s Etienne Daho – TombĂ© pour la France

Have to put a reading recommendation in here.
I’m spellbound by “Let the right one in“.

Do you know how many innocent polyesters would have to die to make even one of those?
AlanDean
Innocent polyesters but fortunately no naugas were skinned. Poor naugas, never had a chance.
And, tho’ I don’t speak German, I’ve always liked the German rather than English version of this song.
