We’re all glued to the tv here. Go EERS!
Interesting. Tunch is not in the picture…Exactly what “we’re” are we talking about…Could it be that someone is afraid to let Tunch out of the cage?

Lily looks like she’s reacting to a bad call.
Congrats to Butler. I’m sure they’ll be considered a Cinderella, but they were ranked 11th.

I’m not ripping the EERS (I hope they win) but does Bob Huggins have the worst wardrobe for any quasi-public figure anywhere, ever?
He’s a wealthy man appearing in front of millions of people, leading his team – in track suits and sweat pants. I’m not even a stickler for this sort of thing but good god, man. Cutoff jeans would be a step up.
He’s shopping at the BIll Belichick wing of the mall, evidently. Surely the school pays him enough for him to afford suits that fit him properly? Bruce Pearl can manage to get sport coats made in day-glo orange, so it can’t be that difficult.

I want some Tunch details please. What’s he doing?

Rooting for WV, as a Big East guy, since they need to uphold the league’s honor. A shame that scumbag Huggins has to be the coach. Can only imagine what recruiting tactics were used to bring all 5 starters in from NJ.

@JohnGCole – A LOT of brown/beige/tan in all of the pictures you have taken and posted.
Please tell me there is some color in your home somewhere (and the blue blanket on the mighty Tunch futon does not count).

This isn’t a hoops thing (there’s some sort of televised ball game going on?), but this is still some sort of open thread, and I thought I’d just note that anyone who isn’t reading Charlie Pierce’s weekly Friday letters to Eric Alterman (at Alterman’s blog, which only updates about twice a week anyhow) only has themselves to blame for missing out.
A taste of this week’s unusually brief edition, which is an examination of the sad remains of John McCain:
He then walked back to the Senate and engaged in a prolonged temper tantrum that culminated in his announcement last week that he was so insulted by health-care reform that he would hereafter decline to do his job any more — a refutation of his old “Country First” slogan that was so obviously hilarious that even Harry Reid noticed. Meanwhile, back home, he was being primaried to within an inch of his life anyway by J.D. Hayworth, a former sportscaster who went on to a brief, Abramoff-enriched career as the dimmest bulb in the congressional chandelier. So, here I sit, today, in Arizona, and not eight miles from this computer. John McCain has flown in Sarah Palin to be the featured speaker at a rally that he hopes will push him to victory over a guy whom even all the other congressional dumbasses thought was a box of rocks. She’s endorsing him but, at the rally, HE’S introducing her, and all I can think of is a paraphrase of the late, great Dr. Thompson’s memorable vale to the cursed 1972 campaign;
“Jesus, how low do you have to stoop in this country if you want to almost be president?”

Looking forward to Tunch updates as well. That pix from the last thread is priceless.
“Does Bob Huggins have the worst wardrobe for any quasi-public figure anywhere, ever?”
No. That dubious distinction belongs to Sylvia Hatchell, the women’s basketball coach at North Carolina. Guilty of some indescribable fashion felonies.

Went to the Google and…wow. In one photo she’s wearing a jacket that has golden lions on a mesh field positioned on each shoulder. With a gold Nike swoosh lapel pin.
” My question is: how did you know? North Carolina fan? If so, I’m sorry:)”
Bite your tongue. Duke fan.
If WVU holds on, only two schools will still have both their men’s and women’s teams alive in the tournament: Duke and Baylor. And they play each other in the next round.
Sartorial choices are so subjective, so I had to go look. But yeah, you warned me.
has anyone explained why Huggie-Bear is wearing sweats? Did he drop a cup of coffee on himself in the pre-game meeting? Forgot to bring enough clean clothes?

This game is over. Congrats WV!!. you shot well and played hard.
Down boy. I want to see WVU win, but 3 minutes is still a long time when talking about a team like UK. I’m not counting my eggs until the final one hatches.
I think a lot of them feel the need to wear team colors at games. For some schools, this is not a problem. Others, like Tennessee, means you go out on game day looking like a pumpkin. An Armani pumpkin, but a pumpkin nonetheless.
I like Kim Mulkey. She got screwed at La Tech and is doing a good job at Baylor. Beat UT like a rented mule today, Pat looked like her head was gonna explode.

I take it you’re a WVU fan Mr. Cole. My older brother taught in their Speech Dept. in the mid 70’s. The photo may have been on the 12 oz cans too, I mean, the aspect ratio would have been the same.

There is no reason that any of these players should have less than a 60% FT average. None. The basket does not move, no one is in your face. Hell, half of these guys are so tall they’re halfway to the basket by the time they release the ball!
My pear-shaped, no knee cartilage possessing, nearly 70 y. o. step-dad can shoot free throws all day. Nothing but net. But there’s no glamour in it. Free throws won’t ever get you the top 10 on SportsCenter. But they damn sure can win the game for you. Or lose it.
