This post is in: Good News For Conservatives

The current chin-scratcher in conservative circles is the importance of Obama’s mother’s preference for “Muslim Third World men”. Two schools of thought have developed. I can’t do much better than Think Progress’ Matt Duss does in examining this important phenomenon.

However, I will add that the man (Spengler) who wrote this:

I’ve been screaming about this for more than two years: Obama is the loyal son of a left-wing anthropologist mother who sought to expiate her white guilt by going to bed with Muslim Third World men. He is a Third World anthropologist studying us, learning our culture and our customs the better to neutralize what he considers to be a malignant American influence in world affairs.

Also wrote this:

Never underestimate the influence of a wife who bitch-slaps her husband in public. Early in Obama’s campaign, Michelle Obama could not restrain herself from belittling the senator. […]

It is hard for the descendants of slaves not to resent America. They were not voluntary immigrants but kidnap victims, subjected to a century of second-class citizenship even after the Civil War ended slavery. Blackness is not the issue; General Colin Powell, whose parents chose to immigrate to America from the West Indies, saw America just as other immigrants do, as a land of opportunity. Obama’s choice of wife is a failsafe indicator of his own sentiments. Spouses do not necessarily share their likes, but they must have their hatreds in common. Obama imbibed this hatred with his mother’s milk.

So at least he has a unified theory: it’s all the bitches’ fault.

    On this:

He is a Third World anthropologist studying us, learning our culture and our customs

Given Bush Jr’ite, Neo-Confederate Republican, and TeaTard culture and customs, would it not take an anthropologist to observe and decode their strange, apparently unreasonable, dangerous, and quite nearly unbelievable behaviors?

See, how mean we all were, talking about how they are all racists when they clearly have layers and complex personalities?

    Such as being sexists too.

Also, these are the same people who when not in polite company call people like Obama’s mom “race traitors”.

They never went away, just got smaller in number and learned to start using dog whistles instead of growing up.

Spengler is usually pretty good, but here he misses the obvious point. Mom’s name was ‘Stanley’, because her dad wanted a son. The name ‘Stanley’ was her punishment for being born a girl.

So, to get back at dad, Stanley dated third world men, spiting him.

On the one hand, as someone observed over at media matters, “third world non white dicks” are seen has exerting an almost diabolical effect on white women. She slept with two muslims and fell in with their world dominating plans is a given, both of the muslims and the sex, apparently. On the other hand, it is the “mother’s milk” that is responsible for Obama’s race hatred. Its an astonishingly rich, deep, and perverse view of the human body, natural bodily fluids, and their psycho/sexual/political importance. Would the whole theory of the evil influence of “third world anthropologists” (so different from first world ones!) fall if it turned out that like other women of the period she *bottle fed him*?

Maybe they’re all thinking of this:

I should’ve killed myself when he put it in me. After the first time, before we were married, Ralph promised never again. He promised, and I believed him. But sin never dies. Sin never dies. At first, it was all right. We lived sinlessly. We slept in the same bed, but we never did it. And then, that night, I saw him looking down at me that way. We got down on our knees to pray for strength. I smelled the whiskey on his breath. Then he took me. He took me, with the stink of filthy roadhouse whiskey on his breath, and I liked it. I liked it! With all that dirty touching of his hands all over me. I should’ve given you to God when you were born, but I was weak and backsliding, and now the devil has come home. We’ll pray.

Can someone please point to an historical example of another president’s mother who received this kind of treatment?

I can’t, but there was some of this regarding Bill Clinton’s father. Not his stepfather. His birth father. Some speculation and nasty asides.

It was a class thing. Underneath all of the conservative venom towards Bill Clinton was a really nasty vein of ” he doesn’t belong in that chair”. I think he actually benefited from it. People like him, people who “moved up”, recognized the snobbery, and aligned with Clinton. I still hear it today, in all that “Big Dog” stuff, the affectionate teasing. Democrats like that Clinton was a little rough around the edges, class-wise.

IMO, these types of conservatives do not buy into the fundamental idea that people are self-determining. They think your trajectory is set from bloodline. Obama’s parents were what they were, and therefore Obama’s opinions and predilections were set in stone at his birth.

OT, but kinda apropos. TNC’s latest post in honor of CHM (Confederate History Month).

I really recommend reading it. I’m gonna also post it in the next Open Thread.

    Honoring CHM: One Drop

In honor of Confederate History Month, I present a group of emancipated Louisiana slaves. The following letter was written by Colonel George Hanks, who commanded a Union Corps composed entirely of black troops. Hanks was attempting to raise money for the education of freed slaves:

…Wilson Chinn is about 60 years old, he was “raised” by Isaac Howard of Woodford County, Kentucky. When 21 years old he was taken down the river and sold to Volsey B. Marmillion, a sugar planter about 45 miles above New Orleans. This man was accustomed to brand his negroes, and Wilson has on his forehead the letters “V. B. M.”

Of the 210 slaves on this plantation 105 left at one time and came into the Union camp. Thirty of them had been branded like cattle with a hot iron, four of them on the forehead, and the others on the breast or arm.

…Mary Johnson was cook in her master’s family in New Orleans. On her left arm are scars of three cuts given to her by her mistress with a rawhide. On her back are scars of more than fifty cuts given by her master. The occasion was that one morning she was half an hour behind time in bringing up his five o’clock cup of coffee. As the Union army approached she ran away from her master

Yeah, because Colin Powell’s ancestors came to the West Indies on a cruise ship.

The apparent difference in achievement between West Indian and American blacks is often used to blame and shame American blacks. Malcolm Gladwell wrote a great article about this a few — whoa — almost 15 years ago.

The implication of West Indian success is that racism does not really exist at all–at least, not in the form that we have assumed it does. The implication is that the key factor in understanding racial prejudice is not the behavior and attitudes of whites but the behavior and attitudes of blacks–not white discrimination but black culture. It implies that when the conservatives in Congress say the responsibility for ending urban poverty lies not with collective action but with the poor themselves they are right. … Is this confidence, this optimism, this equanimity all that separates the poorest of American blacks from a house on Argyle Avenue?

Leftist women can be particularly nasty. I had one of these teach me English at college. She marked me down for using the word ‘history’ in a paper, because of the gender basis of the word. This lady was really mean. She also had arm-pit hair.

There is a cure for all of this societal estrogen-anger. It is called ‘cooking’. This works best when the food is prepared for a traditional family.

For instance, kneading bread dough is a fifteen minute opportunity to reflect and dissipate the daily frustrations which are a normal and healthy part of life. Observing your children consuming food, prepared by your own hand, is also deeply satisfying.

I made the mistake of clicking the link to the article written by David P. Goldman. I notice a lot of articles on Israel on the “First Things” website. Goldman sounds Jewish to me. They must be so proud of him at Temple. The next thing I noticed was the “mission statement” of these idiots.

First Things is published by The Institute on Religion and Public Life, an interreligious, nonpartisan research and education institute whose purpose is to advance a religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society.

But how can this possibly apply to Michelle Obama? Who was raised middle class and did better than her parents and is a completely conventional striver.

I have to say, too, the conservative theme that American black people who are descended from slaves are somehow less American is baffling, too.

I honestly don’t get it. Anyway you look at it, they were here a hell of a lot longer than a lot of us. Good Christ, they’re akin to the first settlers, compared to the big waves of immigrants from Europe, who are always the people penning these screeds. If we’re using nearly any measure: contributions, place in US history, time served as “Americans”, they trump the whole European immigrant crowd, who arrived much later.
I feel as if that’s obvious, and shouldn’t be subject to any question.

Isn’t it obvious what is really going on here? Ask any black man who was ever suspected of sleeping with a white woman in the South before, oh, around 1970. Oh wait, you can’t, because he was strung up or dragged behind a truck. Obsessing over loss of sexual access to pure, white women because of the invincible competition of dark-skinned, large-cocked competitors is what is basically behind everything that has happened in the South since long before Fort Sumter. I don’t know if Spengler is a “Southerner” in the geographic sense, but even if not he is sure as fuck a quintessential product of the southernization of the radical right in this country.

History took a large pause with the introduction of fossil fuels SRW1. But it is, for better or worse, coming our way again. It is unavoidable. This is because the foundation of history is competition for resources.

The abundance of resources provided by the internal combustion engine have largely been consumed. Orwell predicted that this abundance would be consumed by continuous low-intensity wars. He was wrong in this prediction, as the abundance was instead spent on HBD-Denialism.

Orwell also did not predict Peak Oil.

Then she went off and married another evil foreighner, who was also a mooslim and had another baby.

Their nutso economic beliefs are just as objectionable to me, and need to be attacked directly. From my experience, more of them believe in suicidal economic policies than are racist.

I believe that the teabaggers in my family are definitely not racist. I almost fell over when one of them criticized Palin for trying to sweep the race based spitting and name calling under the rug. ah, but taxes are complicated. and Dick Teabag might not actually know what he paid last year. and if he made more money last year, he probably paid more taxes than he did the year before, but it could be a smaller percentage of income – but he probably didn’t do that math. or maybe he got money back from the IRS, but a different amount than last year, so who knows what that really means in terms of effective tax rate for the two years, etc..

and he probably paid more property taxes (yes, that’s local, but it all gets dumped into the I HATE TAXES bin). and if his taxes didn’t go up, or he doesn’t know or can’t tell, he’s being told multiple times every day that taxes on everybody else went up – so, maybe he just got lucky, unlike everybody else. and he just learned that half the country doesn’t pay any taxes!

Otswald Spengler, IMHO, was a very intelligent crazy person, who believed in a grand cyclical theory of the rise and decline of civilization. He thought the West had one or two centuries left and feared that remaining lifespan might be cut short by some kind of war of civilizations. Unless of course the West got its shit together somehow.

Samuel Huntington may have gotten his ideas about the war of civilizations or whatever from Spengler, but I have never found the time to research it.

Reading about the Loch Ness monster and Bigfoot is more interesting and useful in my daily life that trying to untangle the origins of these goofy grand civilization theories. @Brick Oven Bill:

Hey Bill, know what? I can. So why don’t you take your insinuations and shove them up the dark place on your back side (if you manage that).

He could have made his point a lot easier by typing “mudshark” in 96-point font and just publishing that.

This pundit argument fascinates me, and I wish to see more of it. Not because these guys are disgusting racists. Conservatism is awash in in-group bias tribalism. You’re sure to find a good thread of racism in that.

I am fascinated because the ones who are supposed to be the mainstream intellectuals are getting so baldfaced about it. The Echo Chamber works. They’ve been listening to each other so long, absorbing Rush’s talking points that political correctness is the real racism and being praised for even the most ludicrous attacks on Obama that… well. Look at this. They’ve decided that discussing whether being the product of miscegenation makes Obama anti-American is *mainstream political discourse*.

I want lots, lots more of this. Please, Republican figures of authority and learning, feel so insulated from the values of the rest of America that you fly your freak flag as high as it will go. Every time you do, just a few more minorities – heck, whites, too – will come to permanently associate your entire political philosophy with blatant racism. I confess, I am becoming impressed at how deeply it goes.

    @ The Moar You Know

Thank the FSM for the urban dictionary else I’d never know what you were talking about.

How else could you find out about Mackerel Snappers, and that there are two definitions for “Garlic Eater”?

A term Japanese use when referring to Koreans. This is based on Japan rarely (if ever) using Garlic, while Koreans use it quite frequently. Japanese chefs often refer to Korean food as “the meal of a garlic eater”

I don’t think this is just simple racism. I think it’s an effort do denigrate a foe they fear deeply. It’s like imagining your boss in his underwear.

Look…they think Obama is a Mooslim who hates America, right? Yet they know that he won the Presidency. They see he passed the Stimulus. He passed Health Care. What kind of sekrit Mooslim can do all that except a SuperMuslim uber-genius mastermind? Osama Bin Ladin killed 3000 Americans, but Obama took over America. At least from their perspective.

I think in that context, much of the excrement they spew can be seen for the stark terror it is.

    @jibeaux:

In this bizarre little eugenics rant, wouldn’t Obama’s happy immigrant blood be warring it out everyday with his hate-milk, giving him at the very least some walloping indigestion?

Ha! And I think you just caused my Coke Zero to make war on my keyboard. Hater!

@lamh31: Lam – I read that post and all the other ones he’s put up for “Confederate History Month.” Powerful, powerful stuff. TNC is a beautiful writer/thinker, and I always learn something at his blog. Plus he’s got an incredibly interesting commenting community.

Spouses do not necessarily share their likes, but they must have their hatreds in common.

What kind of crap is this? I know plenty of spouses who hate different things.

    These people are crazy. Seriously.
