Not eated, but it does feel like Mutual of Omaha around here. It is really amazing how the addition of one strong personality (Sam) changes the whole dynamic.
Lily has actually been misbehaving on walks and I have had to put her on a leash. Recall is bad, looks wounded and I think her nose is out of joint because I am also paying attention to Samantha. And Samantha is just the neediest dog on the planet. If I stop short, she runs into my leg.
And then there is trying to sleep. Samantha can’t get on the bed by herself, so I have to put her up. But because she is so needy, if I get up to go to the bathroom, she jumps down to follow me. Then, of course, she can’t get back up, so I have to find her and put her back up. And then she just moves all night long.
wtf was up with the big, sloppy, wet blowjob to the teabaggers?

Just woke up from eight gay hrs of sleep. Pretty boring, actually.
If the news shows have something interesting to offer, I’ll catch it on the blogs. It’s better to catch it second hand than sit through it in real time hoping for something intelligent or enlightening.
I need to get my but out in the yard to do some garden cleanup today. I haven’t been able to get in the mood yet and the garden is starting to look like hell. Everytime I think I’m going to do it something else seems like a better idea.
Last week I spent several days driving to No. GA with a brother who is looking for retirement property. Long days of house hunting in the mountains are tiring. The confederates are proud of their heritage north of Atlanta. I saw more confederate flags than the US Flag.
My brother drove down from Chicago with his 125 lb mutt. My little 18 lb mutt set down the rules and the two got along famously. The big dog got excited though and wagged her tail and sent Moxie flying. It was quite amusing to see Moxie spread eagle looking at me as if to say WTF.

“How has Obama failed us today?”
He made John Cole forget the CBS Sunday Morning thread for a couple of hours. ACORN and Rahm Emmanuel may have also played a role. Enough said.

@gbear: I did some serious yard and garden cleanup yesterday. I didn’t want to, but it looked so bad I was shamed into it. You’ll feel better once it’s done, but getting started is a bitch.
@Brian J: Did Rahm appear naked in Cole’s shower? Rahm: Hey asshole, I’m just here to mop. Naked. Doesn’t everyone?

@Fern: Heh. I just ran across this video of a report who drove into the ash cloud. I also found two great aerial photos of the summit crater.
Then, of course, she can’t get back up, so I have to find her and put her back up. And then she just moves all night long.
Marlin, can someone say crate training? Or doggy bed on the floor of the room if separation anxiety is too much? When those sharing the bed cause one to lose more sleep than their comforting presence is worth, it’s time for new habits. That’s what we did with the kid — assume it would work with dogs, too.

It is cold and dreary in Western PA today. I had a ham bone and some leftover Easter ham in the freezer and I am making some delicious ham and bean soup today. I have to say, I make great ham and bean soup. I am now acclimated to my new iPhone and I am loving it.

Slowly working on the task of swapping out cold weather/summer clothes (the two seasons we get here in SC).
In baseball news, terrific no-hitter by the Rockies pitcher last night. A beauty to watch. Unfortunately, it came against the Braves, who could only watch in horror. And Kawakami needs to come out of the rotation. Also.
I feel GREAT this morning. I got seven straight hours of sleep, and am now sitting here being lazy and drinking coffee while SamKitten engages in a futile quest for any Cheerios that may have escaped my floor-cleaning efforts yesterday. (New — and absurdly cute — pictures of him at my url, btw.)
Poor little SamDoggeh — funny that she’s so needy. I can’t imagine she’s any more pampered than Lily is, so that probably doesn’t explain the difference.
Has Tunch recovered from his burst of activity yesterday?

Why does David Gregory really, really want to tax the middle class? Based on his questions to Timmeh, that seems like his only policy prescription.

Do you have a stool or some kind of a sturdy box that’s about half the height of the bed so that Samantha can make two short jumps to get on the bed?
I have a chair at the end of my bed so that aged kitty can get on the bed via smaller jumps. A couple months ago I also had to put a storage-type box next to the chair because she couldn’t even make it up to the chair anymore I wrapped a towel around the lid so she wouldn’t slip on the hard surface. The younger cat is kind of happy now that she can find perches where the crabby, bitchy older cat can’t bother her.

Geg6, I’d love to swap weather – low 70s and sunny here in Atlanta. It’s not that I don’t appreciate it, it’s that it’s a very short prelude to a hot long summer.
Demo woman, N GA is beautiful. I’ve done several projects up there. However, I can always hear the faint strains of the Deliverance sound track playing in the background.

Irony Alert: I’m listening to the very interesting C-SPAN video of Barry Lynn that John posted (thanks, BTW) at “Cornered”. At about 13:50, he talks about the book industry and the battle between the monopolistic booksellers Wal-Mart and Amazon.com. John’s post contains a link to Lynn’s book at — Amazon.com. So much irony there, it rusts.
(And, yes, as a BJ loyalist, I make my Amazon purchases through BJ’s Amazon link. You owe me, John.)

According to Huffpo “Airlines sending empty planes through ash as air travel crisis deepens.” What’s the point in that? A compassionate conservative airline would have you sign a waiver absolving them from all responsibility and sell you a ticket for 1/2 price.
Personally I liked that portion of the show. It made it clear that the Tea Party is in large part white southern evangelicals.
I laughed a little louder than normal when the guy said, “it has nothing to do with race” and then added for emphasis “swear to God!”
Yeah.
The Tea Party is Republican and it is as simple as that. Those guys voted for Bush twice and McCain / Palin the last time around. Whoever the Republican candidate is in 2012 that is who they will vote for and it makes not one whit of difference what the economic or political situations are at that time.
They are Republican. It is as simple as that.
When the segment closed with the guy growling “WE WANT OUR COUNTRY BACK NOW!” it was pitch perfect.
The Republicans want a Republican President. I cannot imagine why but it still should not be surprising.

Spent the morning so far planting azaleas. Couple of cherry trees next. And a comment on one of my pics ID’d a little tree I was told was some variety of Japanese maple. Not true, it’s a variety of dogwood–with edible berries!
