    The show “As It Happens” on the CBC had a good interview regarding the Sonoma County case where an elderly gay people were broken apart and lost their possessions.

    I heard a radio news snippet this morning that Florida governor Charlie Crist is considering running as an Independent, as the GOP continues its purification of the party tea bagger style:

    Republican Florida Governor Charlie Crist told a Tampa television station Monday that he is listening to suggestions that he run for U.S. Senate as an Independent.
    …
    “I can tell you I’m getting a lot of advice in that direction,” Crist said in an interview with ABC affiliate WFTS,. “I’m a listener and so I’m certainly listening to it. I am certainly listening to people’s counsel and advice because I think that is the smart thing to do.”

    It will be interesting to see whether Rush and other conservative pundits try to actively push Crist out of the party.

    I thought that already started when Golden Boy Rubio decided to challenge Crist in the primary. Crist was always going to have trouble fitting the teabagger purity test. If he does go indie and wins then maybe he’ll turn into a reliable vote for the Democrats, at least less mercurial than Lieberman. If not Meek might just have a shot in a three way race as he’s a well-known quantity in Florida. Either way I’m getting out the popcorn as my Senate race is going to be boring.

    I was looking at the Red Cross training brochure for Wilderness First Aid, and noticed that they also have a class in Pet First Aid. I don’t have any pets, but I’m sure some of you would be interested in the class. The local chapter charges $60, cheaper than a visit to the vet.
