Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

You cannot shame the shameless.

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

“woke” is the new caravan.

This chaos was totally avoidable.

Giving in to doom is how authoritarians win.

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

Dear media: perhaps we ought to let Donald Trump speak for himself!

Bark louder, little dog.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

Let there be snark.

“Until such time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on.”

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

You would normally have to try pretty hard to self-incriminate this badly.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

No one could have predicted…

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

I don’t know if I could handle knowing what is going on in my dog Candy’s brain. She perches on the recliner by the front window, basking in the sun like a cat, and keeping an eye on the neighborhood and the house. She bounces off the walls at any sound, last night a skunk was waddling through our yard about 4 am and she startled him and now the side of the house has eau de skunk….I was hoping to be able to open the windows as the garden is starting to bloom…Teri

I have been waiting for this!

Oh, by the way, John. Every now and then when I access your site, a sound auto-plays, “Congratulations. You’ve been selected to receive a $1000 Walmart gift card.”

Can’t figure out how to shut it iff.

@Michael D.: Noscript stops flash from playing unless you click on it. Restores sanity to the web.

So, this morning I visited the site for the first time since the below-first-post ad was added, and it was for Kaplan University…

DougJ, is this your way of being ironic?

Oh, and to keep this comment on-topic, Yay for PBS!

Neat. But what will Tunch be watching while you and Lily are glued to the screen?

Thanks for posting about this. I’ll alert the Tivo. I’m just fascinated at what these dogs can be trained to do. It’s really quite amazing.

Just curious, does everyone else see the Keith Fimian ads, or are they aimed at me (and any other fake VA residents)?

    @Ellie:

I think they’re localized, because I’m seeing ads for grocery store chain that’s only in California, Nevada and Arizona.

Which kinda creeps me out knowing that someone else’s computer knows where mine is located and can send me region-specific ads, but anyway …
