@Steeplejack They actually look a lot better than they did in the second. They went back on their heels after the tying goal, but before that it was all Flyers for about 5 minutes.
I watch Olympic hockey but never pay much attention to the regular season until the playoffs start. To me it seems hard to watch on tv, the action moves fast and the puck is hard to see. Plus I don’t know enough about the subtleties of the game. But I can say that this game is quite action-packed!
So now what? An overtime period, or straight to penalty shots?
50.
SixStringSlingr
@madmommy: no penalty shots in the playoffs. 20 minute overtime periods until somebody scores.
ETA: By that I mean, sudden death overtime with a break every 20 minutes of game time.
Really? I knew they’d implemented penalty shots for the regular season, I just assumed they were also in the playoffs. A quite exciting way to decide a game.

@madmommy: Yes, that’s one of the great things about a great sport. Every playoff series ends like that. Guys try to kill each other for four-to-seven games, then line up, as you said, just like little leaguers for handshakes and congratulations. I also love how when the road team wins, like tonight, almost all of the fans stay to watch the Cup presentation. Love this game and love its fans!
I like the traditions of the Stanley Cup. How the teams let each player take it and do pretty much whatever with it over the summer. Then they take it in and buff out the scratches and dings for the next year. Even in the opposing team’s arena there are a lot of fans still there watching the ceremony.
If every player for the winning team gets their name engraved on the Cup, do they keep adding rings to it over time?
71.
