DiMichelis gifted South Korea a goal just before the end of the half. 2-1 Argentina.

OK, that’s the right score, no more goals, guys.

This is looking much like Spain-Switzerland.

That South Korean goal was the good example of Broadcaster’s Curse, though it was also an example of total complacency. Expect many Argentine players to have the Spanking Hand of God all over their asses during halftime.
Randinho
Bad, bad miss by South Korea. They won’t get too many more opportunities like that,

Well OK then. They guy who wanted lots of goals should be happy.
Sort of amazing how quickly a team as talented as Argentina can turn things into an all out rout.
Stroszek
Well, Argentina sure wiped out that +2 goal differential. Nigeria just needs a win against Greece and a tie against South Korea to advance.

Higuain with the hat trick! Outstanding!!
And yes, he does happen to be on my McDonald’s-FIFA fantasy team, thanks for asking. :-)

South Korea played a lot better than the scoreline showed.

Argentina’s defense may be a little suspect (DeMichelis, Gutierrez); arguably, the two best Argentine midfielders (Cambiasso, Zanetti) were not selected for the squad, BUT…any team featuring Lionel Messi must be regarded as a tournament favorite. OMG, what a sublime player!!! Higuian may have scored a hat trick, but to these eyes Messi was unquestionably the Man of the Match.

@handsmile: Yes, just watching him control that ball and move it around the field is an example of the ideal soccer player. Not many of the other teams have had a player with that degree of skill.

Whatever you do, Randinho, just dont forget the open thread for the US game tomorry. Get it up by 8am if possible. Lots to discuss ahead of time.
Bosh
Watching from South Korea that was pretty damn painful. however Korea’s offense still did OK when they could just get the damn ball out of their half of the field and they should do OK against Nigeria and if they can beat Nigeria (which is doable for them) they should advance. Group A is pretty weak so Korea might even get to top 8, but damn they’re not going to get any farther than that…
