Oh man. That is a very sweet child wearing a very grumpy Tunchie shirt. Now, how about a picture of Tunch himself?
Steeplejack
Okay, okay. I will get off my ass and order that “DIAF” mug I have been wanting.
Sentient Puddle
Mission accomplished!
Seriously people, if that didn’t just put a big goofy smile on your face, you have no soul.
PurpleGirl
She’s cute.
Which one of you guys/gals claims her?
Dave
I’m surprised Tunch fits on just one t-shirt…
The Grand Panjandrum
@Dave: Miracle of modern technology. If it were a life size pic then no dice. That t-shirt could easily fit a dozen or so kids in it.
And, yes, that young lady is a doll. Mom and dad must be proud.

The world needs more young Balloon Juicers. Katie is a cutie-pie and looks very happy despite the fact that Tunch is sitting on her shirt demanding food. Katie, bar the door!
Mark S.
Very cute indeed.
Does anyone know why Mitt Romney is even bothering with this issue? Does anyone besides a few idiots at National Review even care about the START treaty? With all of our current problems, who the hell thinks getting into a new arms race with the Russians would be a fantastic idea?
No refighting WWIII until we’re done with WWIV!

Nothing but good things, so I need y’alls good vibes.
My 4 yr old rescue kitty, Izzy, is going to the Cat Vet Clinic in 30 min. The most cuddle-ee kitten I have ever known has been stand off-ish all morning and I just noticed that she is not grooming her backside as she has been.
Generally she is my shadow. Now she is under the bed. So away we go.
asiangrrlMN
@Keith G: Oh! Massive good vibes to you and your Izzy. Please let us know how she is upon your return.
jacy
@Steeplejack:
I can verify that the DIAF mug holds a suitable amount of vodka. Or Earl Grey if it’s before 9 AM.
Crusty Dem
@jacy:
How about Earl Grey with Vodka (for exactly 9 AM).
That’s a great pic and an excellent reminder that I need to order some swag for the little ones (and a mug for me).
Rosalita
I’d still like a BJ mug with the “a refuge for a snarling mass of vitriolic vicious jackals” banner
Linda Featheringill
What a cutie! Boy, is she going to be a heartbreaker!

It’s only Tuesday, and my outrage quotient is already at its peak. I can only imagine what the rest of the week will hold.
Tony Alva
Katie is my 8 year old daughter. She and I have been Baloon Juice fans all the way back when John was more sane and Tunch was skinny. This is Katie’s second appearance here. As I explained to John, when she sees me checking my Google Reader on the living room laptop she always asks if there are any updates on Tunch, Lily, Rosie, the JR’s.
Lurker
That is a cute picture. :-)
If it cheers anyone up, here’s something I think is a positive development: a search engine that compares the price/quality of local hospitals for different medical procedures and treatments. I’ll definitely use this reference if (Lord forbid) I need medical care in the future.
Hugin & Munin
When you wake in the morning you should ask yourself: Are we still fucked?
Until you can answer ‘no,’ there is no such thing as ‘too much negative.’
Poopyman
@Rosalita: Seconded
jibeaux
She’s so adorable. I should probably get one for my son, but since he’s 53 pounds at nearly 9 years old, it would just seem kind of cruel. You have to have a kid not too underweight or overweight either to kind of pull that off.
Hm. Maybe some other swag, though.
Poopyman
@Tony Alva: Heart-breaker indeed!
Enjoy, Tony! The years, they pass too quickly.
stuckinred
@Hugin & Munin: No but there are too many negatives.
KC
Is this the wrong place to make suggestions/requests for T-shirts? Can we even do that?

@Tony Alva:
I’ll bet she is thrilled to see herself on the front page! Or maybe she’s jaded since this is her second time ;-)
Hugin & Munin
[email protected]: Here’s a hint: grammar doen’t even rank as a problem.
asiangrrlMN
@Tony Alva: She’s just beautiful. I love the last pic of her holding the cat, too.
@KC: Nope. It’s never the wrong time to heckle Cole. Jump right in!
Ivan Ivanovich Renko
@Tony Alva: If you’re like I am, you ask yourself daily how did such a homely so-and-so manage to have such a gorgeous baby girl.
Then you thank her mother.
Sentient Puddle
Entirely unrelated except for the fact that I’m about to add more negativity: Microsoft extends Windows XP downgrade rights until 2020.
I swear, when I’m laying on my deathbed waiting to embrace the great beyond, XP and IE6 will still be alive and kickin’.
demo woman
What a princess! I needed a cute picture.
A volunteer for Doug Macginnitie who is running for Secy of State in Ga just called me. Doug is afraid of all those illegals voting in our state. I asked how many illegals voted and what elections were changed because of it? Duh, no answer except for the liberals would let them vote. That could have been a mistake on his part because after ten minutes he did say he was just a volunteer and most people aren’t as informed as me. I said that I would vote for him if he said that as Secy of State he would encourage all citizens to vote and make access to voting easy. I would hope that he would admit that the illegals is a scare tactic and the real problem is the percentage of unregistered voters in our state.
Brian J
That is a cute kid.
But since there really isn’t any such thing about being too negative when it concerns assholes who are going to make millions suffer, let me continue to be negative. I’m not sure if I consider them bad people or simply misguided souls who clearly don’t realize what they are saying, but I really, truly, absolutely despise the current crop of Republicans. Do I want them to suffer from horrible diseases? No, not really–those should be reserved for people like Rush Limbaugh–but I can’t imagine seeing someone like Eric Cantor or John Boehner and not being arrested for pummeling him in the face. Cantor, for instance, is still taking credit for jobs in his district that the stimulus created or saved, even as he voted against it. And yet these idiots could very well be joined by clowns like Sharon Angle, who suggested that young girls who are raped by their fathers make lemonade out of the lemons they are handed and not get abortions, or Carly Fiorina, whose success at HP was so incredible that the company’s political action committee donated money to her fairly liberal incumbent opponent, Barbara Boxer, while giving nothing to her.
James Carville suggested that people are leaving Democratic focus groups telling pollsters that they don’t believe the Republicans will do all of the crazy things they are talking about. Maybe they won’t, because there will be something, or someone, that stops them, but they will surely try. And that begs the question: HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU VOTE FOR THEM?!?!?! I don’t want to see anyone suffer just because, but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m starting to think that Americans will get what they deserve when they vote these guys into power. If they do, of course. We are going to lose seats in the House, and perhaps a few more in the Senate, but something inside me tells me that things won’t be as bad as I fear–or if they turn out to be, they will swing sharply in the other direction in 2012. That still leaves two years of insanity, but maybe another punch in the head will finally wake the public up to what these goons promise to do.
Brian J
Will the iPhone 4 really be recalled? It doesn’t seem to work any more or less frequently than the previous version, but then I don’t use it to make that many calls.
I just wish the case I bought didn’t look like something a dominatrix would wear. Now I have to return it. I liked the old, hard plastic one I had for the 3G-S, even though I beat the crap out of it. I guess I should just keep looking.
TaMara (BHF)
@Keith G: Okay, let’s hope it’s just a fur-ball. I swear every time I think my big guy is having a flare-up of his kidneys and I’m just about to the point of carting him off to the vet, he hacks up a small cat and then he is fine.
So good thoughts for Izzy.
stuckinred
@demo woman: Deal almost spits “liberals” in his ads. Mr Badass.
Ash Can
And how, too much negativity. It seems like every thread here today has been a wall-to-wall pie fight. Either the heat’s getting to everyone, or way too many people opted for the cereal box marked “Now with Extra Whizz!” this morning. Thank goodness for this thread, and for sweeties like little Katie (not to mention the Tunchmeister).
TaMara (BHF)
@Tony Alva: Oh great, now I’m going to have to watch my f*@k!ng mouth here, have to be on my best behavior for Kate….and John’s mom….and Mrs. J
Tony Alva
@Ivan & Poopy: You couldn’t be more right. When my father (a retired career Army Col.) first saw my baby daughter he looked at her, then back at me and said, “How could YOU have anything at all to do with making HER?” That translates to “Congratulations son!” from military speak.
John: Just so you’ll feel better, those two kittens of Katie’s are now as fat, if not fatter than your boy Tunch.
TaMara (BHF)
My new voter’s registration just came in the mail. For the first time in my lifetime of voting (first vote: Jimmy Carter) I am now a registered Democrat, not an independent.
And why? Because Obama pissed me off and seems to insist on mucking in our primaries, pitting Bennett against Romanoff. Save that shit for the Republicans, we can decide our own candidates, TYVM. I’m not sure what Gov. Ritter was thinking when he appointed Bennett in the first place.
See, I’m not a total Obot, prior comments notwithstanding.
gbear
If I may disrupt the good vibes, I took a scooter ride thru Bachmann territory over the weekend and HUGE Bachmann signs are starting to show up all over the outer ‘burbs (out in two-acre-lot territory).
These people might as well just put up a sign that says “Stupid People Live Here’.
Anya
@TaMara (BHF): What’s your objection to Bennett?
@Tony Alva: She is so lovely. I want one just as adorable.
Alice Blue
@demo woman and stuckinred: Nathan Deal’s badass knickers are in a twist because Palin endorsed Karen Handel.
demo woman
@Alice Blue: Ah.. Deal was endorsed by Newt today.
The republicans bombarding me with phone calls is my own fault. I do have a tendency to vote in the republican primary since we have open voting. Never again. edit Handel has Jan Brewer doing robo calls… ugh
The only thing I’m undecided about is the democratic race for AG.
TaMara (BHF)
@Anya: It’s more I’ve been a long time Romanoff supporter – I know his policies, I’ve had discussions with him and I believe he would represent me best in the Senate.
My main objections with Bennett was his being appointed to the Senate, having never been elected to office, over several candidates who had already come before voters and had been voted into an office (Hickenlooper and Romanoff, specifically). As far as I can tell he has no exceptional qualifications for office besides the fact that Gov. Ritter and Pres. Obama want him there. Nothing against him or the job he has done, it’s just not enough for me to actually elect him to office over the more experienced leader I see in Romanoff.
KC
I don’t want to heckle John Cole at all. It’s just that I occasionally have an idea and I’d like to see if someone would enjoy it.
So, here’s mine:
I’d like to suggest a T-shirt with a Fairey’d-up picture of Lily on it, probably that picture that’s available right now, with one of two captions:
LOVE
because it’s evident just how well this adoption worked out for both of them,
or
WTF?!
because I can’t ever help but laugh at that pic. I have no idea what she’s thinking.
Just a thought or two.
Batocchio
Don’t let Malkin see this, or she’s be breaking into that little girl’s house to check for granite countertops!
The Truffle
My mother now owns a Tunch t-shirt. She’s never heard of Balloon Juice, but she does like the shirt.
asiangrrlMN
@KC: Cool–I like the second idea. And, you don’t have to heckle Cole at all. I’ll do it for you.
@gbear: WTF? Where?
Steeplejack
@jacy:
Thanks, good to know about the vodka. The tea will not be an issue.
