Severely tongue-in-check report from Wonkette:
RNC Treasurer Randy Pullen dropped a line to members of the party’s budget committee yesterday just to let them know Michael Steele has hidden about $7 million in debt from him lately. This made the RNC’s “war chest” (boobs) look bigger than usual, so this was a job well done by Mike. However, that is not exactly legal, so the party could face huge fines from the Federal Election Commission for doing this…
__
The Washington Times also has learned that former Federal Election Commission Chairman Michael E. Toner has been retained as outside counsel to the RNC, a move Mr. von Spakovsky called unusual and significant…
__
Can we get Tom Vilsack to fire Michael Steele? Yeah, he doesn’t have any justification for firing Steele either, but this is just getting sad.
__
Just fire him, Republicans. If you are worried about the black thing, hire Alan Keyes. Certainly he is available. YES, he may be a bit crazy, but you have to at least try somebody else.
‘Mr. von Spakovsky’, incidentally, seems to be professional ratfvcker Hans A. von Spakovsky. Can I pull a full-Fox, and use Cavuto Marks to imply that Republicans hope to use Andrew “Danegeld” Breitbart’s race-baiting antics to distract attention as they shitcan the RNC’s Token Black Person? Yes, YES I CAN!
Punchy
I cant hide $75 from the wife, how does this fucker hide $7 large x large from his uppity ups? Do they make pillowcases that large?
Jager
I bet that strapping buck spent the money on T-Bone steaks and Cadillacs!
Zifnab
At least now we know why Republicans hate black people so much. If I had to deal with Michael Steele on a daily basis, I might turn into a frothing racist too.

Public service announcement: If the post above makes any sense to you whatsoever, please, step away from the computer and try to think about something other than political minutiae for just a minute or two. It will be good for you, and the country. If you find the post above to be actually funny, seek professional help immediately.
JR (not the other JR)
Oh, please fire him. His exit interviews will be splendiferous.
Mark S.
Wow, this shit could actually get Steele fired, or whatever the process of removing the RNC chairman is.
Albatrossity
Delicious. In the midst of trying to prove that the other guys are all racists, the GNoP has to self-flagellate over whether or not they can sack the sole black guy in the organization.
I’m gonna pop some popcorn and dig out my VHS of “Putney Swope” to watch tonight!
Ash Can
I hope this doesn’t get Steele fired. He’s the gift that keeps on giving.

Can we get an open thread long enough to have a damn sammich without having to bolt the damn thing down when some other front pager pulls the trigger?
danimal
Is the potential firing of Michael Steele evidence of GOP racism?
Can Republicans keep up the fiscal integrity facade while HQ spends on hookers and blow?
Live by the Cavuto mark, die by the Cavuto mark.

The question is, why did it take the treasurer til now to realize what Steele did? I’m no Steele fan but isn’t it possible that the treasurer is using Steele as a scapegoat for his own error?
And even if Steele did hide the debt, if the treasurer just discovered it now, he’s not doing his job and he should be fired too.

@Albatrossity:
There is no end to the hilarity of this situation.

Von Spakovsky, who our asshole VA governor appointed to the board of elections in my county, grrr. True to form, he voted to prevent the electoral board in our extremely diverse county from distributing registration forms in any language other than English, and then lied about it.

@Nick:
Thank you, troll. Your concern is noted.
You are an affront to those of us also named Nick.

Alright, who is sockpuppeting Nick?
It got a little crazy with the Jew=Media thread but these last couple of days are just bugnuts crazy. Dial it back a bit whoeveryouare.

Hey, lay off Nick, folks. I actually found his comment funny. After all, we ARE all a bit obsessive about politics…
Bill Murray
@Punchy: he made a slight error because his computer’s calculator won’t handle billions

Jesus, Nick, as you tell us 300 times a day, you work in the media. Which is the more substantive story?
1. Low level RNC staffers charge a couple thousand bucks at a lesbian bondage club.
2. RNC fails to disclose $7 million in debt to FEC and retain high powered outside counsel.
I admit, 1 is a lot more entertaining, but it’s not that big of a story. 2 is potentially a huge story. I’m not surprised you don’t see the difference.
Tonal Crow
And this is the party that brags about its budget-balancing skills?

It is racist of you to suggest that the GOOP is only holding on to Steele because they think he’s a human shield against charges of racism. (Did anyone else see the South Park movie? No? Forget it.)

Meanwhile, GOP politicians are just imploding all over the place (Mayor in upstate NY village quits over racial slur):
What I don’t quite get is how these guys, who are otherwise not racist, have suddenly been seized by a rare form of Tourettes which forces them to utter racial slurs.
bemused
Considering foot-in-mouth Steele’s track record, why weren’t R’s keeping better tabs on him and the RNC’s books? They are just now finding out about the $7 million debt?
Another chapter in the republican “do as we say, not as we do” handbook.

@Corner Stone:
We saw your true colors the other night. Hey, I think I hear Rahm calling. You’d better get in there, that back’s not gonna loofah itself.
The Other Chuck
This is what happens when you chase all the smart people out of the party. You get stupid people handling your money.
Brian J
Does this mean that the RNC has a lot less money to use for the midterms, or am I totally misinterpreting what has happened? $7 million less for the Republicans to spend could turn out to be a pretty significant advantage for the Democrats.
