Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

Accountability, motherfuckers.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

After roe, women are no longer free.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Nothing worth doing is easy.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

When do the post office & the dmv weigh in on the wuhan virus?

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

I was promised a recession.

It’s pretty depressing thinking about elections 2 months from now. What was the quote? No one ever got rich betting on the American electorate, or something to that effect…how very true.

Also hugely disappointed in the Obama messaging. They could run one hell of a political campaign, but no cohesiveness when it comes to a governing message.

    Sigh. Depressing as hell.

S’up, bitchez? Music thread? OK. I have been discovering my country side. I have been obsessing over Jake Owens (Yee-haw, y’all).

Now, per stuckinred, I am checking out Rosanne Cash’s Black Cadillac. This song is very moving. The song actually starts around forty seconds in.

@asiangrrlMN: The reason why Lover Lover makes me haz a happy is the fact that Jarrod isn’t some young up and coming new thang. He’d been bouncing around Nashville for years before a producer took a chance on him with this song. So he really paid his dues and got his reward in the end.

Talk about politics making strange bedfellows: there was a benefit concert in Little Rock last weekend for the West Memphis 3 defense fund, and apparently one of the highlights was a duo set by Eddie Vedder and Natalie Maines.

Big double-take when I read that.

May have to charge up the XM portable that I never use and tune in to the broadcast on Saturday.

I suppose it could work. I mean, it’s no more unlikely than John Doe and Kathleen Edwards, and that duo produced one of the best songs of the 2000s.

    @valdivia: Grazie mille!

Actually, my semi-minimalist ways are paying off here. The only really bad room to move will be all my kitchen crap. I only have a few pieces of bedroom furniture and my computer desk to haul over. And oh yeah I already have three boxes of kitchenware at the new place already. I may just abandon some of the stuff and call it good.

@asiangrrlMN: He’s got five songs on there and I’m really grooving along to all of them. If I knew that artists made their bread off album sales I’d buy it like yesterday. But they get more income from touring (he goes on the road in the fall) so if he hits Seattle and I can go I’m there. And if I can get backstage…well, you know what they say about straight men and six packs. ;)

    @Yutsano:

sounds like you’re in great moving shape if you already have kitchen stuff there already. and I think moving is the best moment to get rid of stuff you don’t need so abandoning things sounds like a good plan. treat yourself to some +something after the move is done is what I say! ;)

    @burnspbesq:

I don’t see the big gap in the music between the two to be honest. I’m not a big Pearl Jam fan but I have a real, genuine admiration for Eddie Vedder. I’m a huge Springsteen fan/dork and some of my favorite moments of the last tennish years of Springsteen shows are the many times Vedder takes the stage with him.

Dixie Chicks – Not Ready to Make Nice

Vedder and The Boss doing my favorite rock song ever: Darkness on the Edge of the Town

Random Aside. When Lounge Ax was still open in Chicago Vedder used to come in and check out shows all the time. This was after X/Ten album when Pearl Jam was huge and he’d sit along the wall by the entrance, often next to an exceptionally intoxicated Jeff Tweedy (his wife ran and owned the joint), and just relax and check out the bands. And write. And take notes about something (the bands? the bar? Jeff Tweedy’s drinking?) at a feverish pace the entire night. Not a bit of big britches rock star in him. Just a guy albeit a very wee one.

A must read thread on Reddit.
A Tea Partier did an IAmA* tea partier post inviting questions from reddit users. Reddit is pretty stacked with liberals but that doesn’t mean they gang up on people from the other party. Just read through the thread, you will get a fair idea of how the discussion went.

A few of the top comments on the thread:
    __

You’re a Republican Tea-Partier. This means that you absolutely hate big government. So I have a few questions about you and your movement’s people.
    __
Where were you when Reagen, and every other subsequent Republican leader tried to and succeeded in increasing the size and spending of a military that doesn’t and has never needed to be this large. I believe we sit at 23% of federal spending going towards the military; the largest portion of federal spending by an extremely large margin. Where were you when this spending occurred? Why no rallies and Tea Parties then?
    __
Where were you when an administration under George Bush began invading countries, wiretapping it’s citizens, gathering phone data on it’s citizens, torturing foreign war criminals, and indefinitely imprisoning people all under a federal umbrella?
    __
Where were the rallies whenever the moral right tried to and succeeded in getting federal regulation on people’s personal lives, ie: gay marriage, drug laws, etc.
    __
I guess what I’m trying to ask is this: How do you reconcile the notion that Republicans and Tea Partiers are only anti Big Government when corporate interests are at stake?

    __

You know, I can see the patience that you have with an organization you believe in. When I was in my early twenties, with a couple of toddlers running around, trying to make ends meet in the construction industry, the Republican message really resonated with me. Self-sufficiency, the “American dream”, creating my own small business, really building something for myself and my family, it seemed real and attainable.
    __
Now that I’m older, I see that their message was the opposite of what the Republicans actually did. I see that Big Oil and the companies that serve the DOD are really running the show, and all this idealistic rhetoric, is really a pack of lies wrapped in fake morality, designed create dreams, then to instill fear that they’ll be torn down, with the solution to “the problem” always including the destruction of the individual protections put into place by the founding fathers.
    __
I guess I’m repeating myself, and on a rant, but successful domestic policies=national security. And welfare? What do you call a midwesterner who can’t get a job, and needs longterm healthcare and a wants a pension for his family? Private First Class, thats what. The US Military is the biggest welfare program in the history of the world. It robs and maims the poorest americans, and fills the pockets of the uber rich. I’m sorry, I probably sound cynical and bitter, but short of a group of actual real young Republicans getting together and throwing out the old guard, I’ll never again waste my time on the GOP. I’m so pissed about what they’ve done in the last 30 years, that in retrospect Nixon seems like a good guy, and Code Pink trying to perform a citizens arrest on Karl Rove seems perfectly reasonable, and what any real american should do if they saw him on the street. I hope the next 30 years turns out better for you. End of rant.
