Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Glad to see john eastman going through some things.

Come on, man.

Republicans in disarray!

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Republicans are the party of chaos and catastrophe.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

No one could have predicted…

Everyone is in a bubble, but some bubbles model reality far better than others!

Proof that we need a blogger ethics panel.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

The cruelty is the point; the law be damned.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Today’s GOP: why go just far enough when too far is right there?

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Hi god, it’s us. Thanks a heap, you’re having a great week and it’s only Thursday!

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

Thanks to commentor J. for this link, because right now we desperately need something that doesn’t suck:

Almost as cool as the performers (including the goat, at 2:51) is the Gizmodo story describing how the video was made. One single take, no cuts, no camera tricks — Take #72 out of 124. Don’t miss the link, because the pics are just AWSUM!

That band appears to like single shot awesomeness; this one was done in a single take (for reasons that will be clear, it HAD to be):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w

More interesting than the video is the brain power that it took to get it done; I’ll leave that as a Google search for those interested.

Fun fact: the guy who does the lip-synching in the videos is not actually the lead singer. He only plays the lead singer in the videos. IIRC, the actual lead singer is the guy who’s second to the left in the opening shot.

I always love their videos, but they hurt the music part dreadfully by distorting it so hard. The treadmill one got away with the same volume easier because it was garagey- this one’s more 80s and it just goes splat crunch thraggh in a not good way :(

But I don’t have to care, and they needn’t care so long as all they want is video views and not anybody, you know, LISTENING to the damn music.

Might get into Wal Mart rack jobber land easier for all the good that will do…

Here’s another excellent video. Dan Savage started a YouTube channel to tell LGBT youths that life gets a lot better after the misery of middle school and high school. Since LGBT kids commit suicide at such a high rate, this is quite important. Send it to you nieces, nephews, young friends, etc., who might need the message. Also, the stories about his family are really cute.

    @mcd410x:

Velma Hart, For. Fuck’s. Sake. This administration hasn’t even had a full two years to extricate itself from Bush’s Slough of Despond. You’ve got to be a little tougher than that. If only for the sake of your privately tutored children.

I keep thinking back to Obama’s election night speech. It was grim. He warned the country that this shit was going to be hard. Any idiot who’d been paying attention for the previous 8 years knew that. It’s not his fault you watched Will.I.Am’s video so many times it melted your brain. (I’m still addressing VH here, mind you)

But yeah, Digby does have it right. And in a weird way, rage is probably less exhausting.

I succored my disappointment with today’s Senate nonsense with a little Slavoj Zizek. Thanks, Slavoj for putting it in perspective. Ahh.

Interesting hypothesis by Susie Madrak at Crooks & Liars about why Republicans can field populist candidates, when their policies are elitist:

“Due to the many economic hurdles presented by the elite Democratic classes (things like unpaid, career-track internships), it’s almost impossible for working-class activists to move up to the national policy and strategy ranks. The only realistic route for lower-class people who aren’t identified with a specific group but have leadership qualities are via conservative Republican politics.

    Is that a good thing?

And the Republicans do walk the talk. Their organizations have numerous programs to develop leadership qualities among the bottom ranks, programs where people don’t have to worry about having the money to pay for it. The fundamentalist churches feed their talent directly into the Republican party structure. Where do you go if you’re a working class Democrat and you don’t have a union job?”

    http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/new-adventures-old-christine

What’s truly unique is the fact the comments seem to be so out of touch with what’s written. I really have no idea, why so many people got so worked up about it.
