    Yay, I spent all day in an air conditioned (high temp in the 90s) coffee shop and finished a Perl lab!!

    After a 40 year wait Chicago’s Red Line will finally extend to the farthest reaches of the Southside.

    Made my day even though the Circle Line would have helped me and mine a lot more. Not quite this but pretty cool anyway

    It’s why we were very fired up to join with Accountability Now to primary Lincoln (on top of the fact that he would have been a better candidate than Blanche).

    Oh, so this is now the default position of Balloon Juice? Huh, I guess the various posters who excoriated me for holding this same view were wasting their time.

    Does anyone know what the sudden abundance of Firebaggers is about around the lefty blogosphere? So many folks squatting in other peoples blogs shrieking about how “THERS NO DIFFERNCE BETWEEN BOTH SIDES!”

    It’s really bad over at Digby but I’m seeing it other places too. Just wondering if anyone knows what may have emboldened them.

    @Jody: Which blogs?

    At Salon the other day, there was some comment about how everything is Obama’s fault because if he were a “leader” all the Dems in Congress would have fallen into line. “If LBJ or Bill Clinton were president, we wouldn’t even be talking about this!”
    I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Not only did LBJ pass Civil Rights and the Great Society without breaking a sweat or making any compromises, now Bill Clinton was invincible. That’s what makes me so damn mad about all the whiners (yea, I said it). The Republicans have been fighting this war on the middle class, the working class, the poor and common sense for forty years (I don’t think Reagan’s handlers ever though their troops would go as far as Bush/Cheney, much less Palin and the ‘Baggers). Democrats–or at least, a certain subset of internet ‘progressives’–, having tried for eighteen months and found that it’s hard, it’s hard work, want to quit.

    Arnold will now incur the wrath of the Koch oil boy funded TeaTard Revlodouche’n given this absolute smackdown of the oil interests funding a recall of CA’s carbon dioxide emission reduction law.

    [The oil company-backed interests] are creating a shell argument that this [initiative to roll back CA’s CO2 reduction law] is about saving jobs.

    Does anyone really believe that these companies that out of the goodness of their black oil hearts are spending millions and millions of dollars to protect jobs?

    Germany will make its last reparations payment for World War I on Oct. 3, settling its outstanding debt from the 1919 Versailles Treaty and quietly closing the final chapter of the conflict that shaped the 20th century. Oct. 3, the 20th anniversary of German unification, will also mark the completion of the final chapter of World War I with the end of reparations payments 92 years after the country’s defeat
