Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When I was faster i was always behind.

I really should read my own blog.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Disagreements are healthy; personal attacks are not.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

This blog will pay for itself.

Republicans got rid of McCarthy. Democrats chose not to save him.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

They love authoritarianism, but only when they get to be the authoritarians.

Come on, man.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Here’s the best video I could find of Carl Paladino threatening the New York Post’s State Editor, Fred Dicker, saying he’ll “take out” Dicker if Dicker sends his “goons” again to take photos of Paldino’s ten-year-old daughter, who was fathered by Paladino when he had an extramarital affair. Dicker was asking Paladino to provide some proof of his allegation that Andrew Cuomo also had an extramarital affair. Here’s the Post story on the confrontation.

It’s not very smart to piss off the top reporter for the biggest conservative paper in the state, but Horse Cock Carl isn’t very smart.

Who’s the goon that’s threatening Dicker and calling him a terrible journalist? Seems like damage control par excellence.

“What allegation? What threat? What about Nancy whoever?”

Seems like a typical right wing troll.

Yanno, it’s just possible that some voters may see that as Paladino protecting his daughter. Anyone remember the story about Harry Truman threatening to punch out a critic who panned his daughter’s singing:

Some day I hope to meet you. When that happens you’ll need a new nose, a lot of beefsteak for black eyes, and perhaps a supporter below!

Granted, Harry wrote a letter, and came across as a bit less Goodfellas. But a dad defending his daughter, especially a little girl, could carry weight with some folks. Just sayin’

Oh and Carl Paladino is a moron. He will fuck this up, he and about two other Teatards won’t make it to the finish. 50% jealousy from the right and another 50% moral clarity will sink half of them Izzy Santa style. This is a rebranding gone wild, and they have sold their soul to the stupid, their party is that 30 year old that still lives in their parents basement. They look up now and they realize they have absolutely no ideas. And they are panicing before our eyes.

Given that this confrontation happened at the Sagamore, I’m surprised that Paladino’s people didn’t just chain some cinder blocks to the Post guy’s ankles and drop him into Lake George. That seems to be about their speed.

Where is Jimmy Breslin (New York’s Molly Ivins, and author of “The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight,” which is a very funny book if you haven’t read it) when we need him?

But I’m sure Bill Maher will have loudmouth Breitbart on next show to shout over every other guest and say how this shows how liberals are hypocrites, because, you know, it’s so great to have these non-liberal points of view.

The campaign reporters will be asking Paladino about what he meant by “take you out,” then he’ll say something about how Andrew Coumo is not man enough to face him and the whole thing will be about that. The fact that this sleazy lunatic won a primary, tells you that nothing he does will shock his supporters.

That doesn’t absolve him of tossing around unsubstantiated rumors about his opponent (like it makes him unqualified for office).

Paladino says Cuomo had an extramarital affair with no proof, then when’s called on it, he changes the subject by complaining about the unsubstantiated accusations that the NY Post is stalking and harassing his bastard child.

Paladino is a douche and the Post is going to town on him.

Another media victory for the Horse Porn and Racism candidate!

The question of whether Andrew Cuomo had extramarital affairs has now been introduced and will now become the principal consequence of the incident. Even the New York Post this morning, in its main story on the incident, headlined that question accompanied by a photograph of Cuomo and his wife. The fact that one of its own staff was threatened by the Horse Porn candidate was relegated to a sidebar story.

(Note also that on Tuesday, his driver Rus Thompson, threatened a New York Times reporter (“I fight dirtier than Carl does”) who raised questions about Thompson’s drunk driving convictions.)

In its coverage this morning of the incident, New York 1, TimeWarner’s cable channel in the New York metropolitan area, presented a brief clip of the argument between Dicker and the Horse Porn candidate, and then interviewed only the candidate’s spokesman. The reporter explained that the gubernatorial nominee had been angered by New York Post photographers “snooping around” his daughter. (This remark itself is reminiscent of the Half-Term Governor’s allegations against journalist Joe McGuiness upon his rental of a house adjacent to the Palin compound in Wasilla.) I suspect that Kristine’s conjecture above (#6) will prove prescient.

    As always, IOKIYAAR.

It’s important that we stand up for the right of the news media to stalk 10 year old kids and take pictures of them. Because only an indecent society gets skeeved out by things like that.

Speaking of which, do we have pictures of Sarah Palin’s womb yet, to determine whether or not Trig and Bristol’s kid shared a room there for 9 months?

What. An. Asshole. I’m sorry, sir, but if you can’t politely answer a few questions without resorting to playground threats and yelling, you are not qualified to be dogcatcher, let alone governor of the State of New York. Is this guy just playing a joke on us? Or does he really think that screaming and intimidation are going to win him votes? I loved the contention that he has evidence of Cuomo’s infidelities, but that he’ll release it “at the appropriate time.” When is that exactly? I’m a little scared of this clown, but I dismiss his chances at the polls. I’ve been wrong before about that, unfortunately…

As a resident of Upstate NY, I am truly shocked at the number of “I’m mad to, Carl” signs alongside Anne_Marie Buerkle (the teabagger candidate running against Dan Maffei). The comment thread on one of the local TV stations’s websites is overun with pro-Carl anti-liberal poo-flinging. Paladino is tapping into a well of rage against the awful, completely corrupt, and wholly dysfunctional state government. Of course, he has benefited handsomely from the corruption that he has helped perpetrate but teabaggers always overlook these small details.

Has it occurred to anyone that Dicker was deliberately trying to introduce a “controversy”/provoke a “conversation” surrounding Cuomo’s alleged infidelity? September 30, 2010 at 1:56 pm

@Comrade Colette Collaboratrice: If only. Unfortunately, the preponderance of “I’m Mad Too, Carl!” signs locally means he’s got way too many fans.

To give some perspective on Lazio’s loss for non-NY’ers, the state Republican party picked him as their candidate, and did not give Paladino a line on the primary ballot at the party convention this summer. If your party doesn’t want you, you can petition your way onto the ballot. This is expensive, and you need signatures from all over the state. But as a multi-millionaire, Paladino was able to do this even without party support from the Repubes or the Conservative party.

Republicans are very disenchanted with their state party right now, so Carl hit things at the right time. The State Republican vice chair said “The Republicans just aren’t used to primaries. … People are confused, they’re getting mail from different directions, and that’s why they need the party organizations to set them straight and point them toward the endorsed candidates.” Seriously.
