Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

Trump should be leading, not lying.

Republican also-rans: four mules fighting over a turnip.

SCOTUS: It’s not “bribery” unless it comes from the Bribery region of France. Otherwise, it’s merely “sparkling malfeasance”.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Dear elected officials: Trump is temporary, dishonor is forever.

It is not hopeless, and we are not helpless.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

“Perhaps I should have considered other options.” (head-desk)

If you’re gonna whine, it’s time to resign!

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

When they say they are pro-life, they do not mean yours.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Michelle Bachmann Ad here at BJ:

Help me defend myself against Clinton and the Democrats’ attacks

Huh? Is the State Dept. going after Bachmann now? Did Bill say something about Michelle that I haven’t heard yet?

    Why Clinton? And which one?

Michelle Bachmann, partying like it’s 1999.

@Carrie: The original post said oct 26, then yesterday the post said sunday night. Surely one of the kind attorneys here would plead your case for you.

You probably received A TON of submissions. I am not sure how many pics you intend to use but a 365 animale-per-day would be lovely!

I have no idea about the cost of such a project.

Submitted a few days ago, got my reply – I think it’s great you guys are doing this, even if my dog will be jealous of all the other animals.

@JGabriel: Well, Bill is in Minnesota today at a rally for Tarryl Clark (Bachmann’s opponent). And the Strib just endorsed Clark today. I am, no shitting here, shocked. I don’t know if Clark has a chance, and I’m not in her district, but I kicked in $50 a few weeks ago. Wish it could have been more, but I have a house full of pets to feed.

@JGabriel: Every time I see some nonsensical republican ad here I just click it to do my bit to drive up the cost for them.

I made a unilateral, arbitrary and very capricious decision to close it off two days early because of the way CafePress pays out the commissions and bonuses. They hold the money for 30-45 days in case we have returns. We have not had one! (I think JPL/Demo Woman/JL got a bad tile coaster but that was not due to our error.)

My hope was that by launching the calendars early in the last week of October we’d get enough ordered and then into production for Charlie’s Angels to see a chunk of the money from the initial orders in mid-December without having to wait for Jan. 15. Just helps them with cash flow, which is tight, to say the very least, and spreads the calendar windfall out over two or more months for them.

And so there is no reluctance to submit because you think there are too many already and yours won’t make the cut, wrong on both accounts. Pretty much everyone’s darling will be included somewhere in the 12 months/cover, and while we have A LOT of photos already, it appears we will have the perfect amount to make a truly gorgeous calendar. Thanks to everyone for being so enthusiastic and supportive of the project.

@Laura W.: Yup, I received a broken tile but it due to their packing. You ever get two tiles with no reinforcement in the middle and only lightly wrapped. I do love the tiles though and use them as coasters in my bedroom. Lily is so cute.

I can’t wait to order the calendar!!!

Oh, of course, me too. I expect Cole really cleans up from Dems clicking through on GOP ads – like maybe enough to almost pay for 3% of the monthly server bill. But every little bit helps, I’m sure. But it’s wasting the teatard dollars that’s the most fun.

One of my cats (sadly, no longer with us) made it into the Infinite Cat calendar about 5 years ago. That was awesome. Looking forward to ordering *this* one.

Gheh, I don’t have a Chelie ad to click right now. Didn’t know I could cost her money by clicking it. Her claim is that Big Dog called her stupid a week or so ago. He almost did, but it was more like what she was saying was stupid. Which is good enough for me. I’ll call her stupid. She’s smarter than Sarah Palin, though. I think Tarryl Clark has a good chance! (not in the district either; I get to vote for Betty.)

Omigod, everyone on my gift list is getting calendars this year. In recent years, I have gotten all Scroogian about gifts, and I really only like doing handmade things, food, or charitable donations. So this is perfect.
