Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

I really should read my own blog.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Fuck the extremist election deniers. What’s money for if not for keeping them out of office?

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

T R E 4 5 O N

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

We still have time to mess this up!

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Don’t expect peaches from an apple tree.

No Justins, No Peace

The revolution will be supervised.

It’s time for the GOP to dust off that post-2012 autopsy, completely ignore it, and light the party on fire again.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

People are complicated. Love is not.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

The party of Reagan has become the party of Putin.

Pessimism assures that nothing of any importance will change.

The willow is too close to the house.

I don’t watch near as much baseball as I used to since the Pirates have decided to suck like Linda Lovelace for two decades, but I honestly don’t recall the last time I saw an entire bullpen breakdown like the Rangers did in the bottom of the 8th tonight. Just pathetic.

I really am a bad person, because I couldn’t take my eyes off that for a second. Tule fog time on the I – 80 and a sixty four car pile up. It was that bad.

And I loved it. The Giants!

I like that Giants now that Bonds is gone, but just lost interest when the Reds got beat in the div playoff. Looking like it could be a 4 gamer sweep this year. The good news is the Browns have piqued my interest again, at least for the present. They have a bye I think this Sunday.

this porbably goes more appropriately here, in the open thread.
At least McCance is going to resign. And in other wingnut news, Jean Schmidt talked about abortion to a school assembly in Cincinnati and the principal had to send a letter home as it was a 1st – 8th grade group. He asked that they keep it within the school community, but they didn’t! Perhaps it will get some traction for her opponent. And maybe people will be offended that Boehner is campaigning with Rich Iott. And slightly more southern, isn’t it interesting that a money funneler for Rove in KY just happens to own a nursing home that Jack Conway is prosecuting, for elder abuse. FYWP I can’t link any sources, but there’s some press out there (it’s not like Jack called to tell me).

In an amusing coincidence, the Rangers did almost exactly the same thing to the Yankees during the ALCS, but they were only able to expand their 2-0 lead to 8-0.

Jeez not only that…the Giants who had hardly scored much against Atlanta & The Phillies have run up 20 runs in two games…

I’ll be damned. Why can’t Democrats kick butt like that?

In the open thread category: A winger who is willing to sell her own uncle down the river for her own Christianist electoral goals.

The uncle of the Wisconsin lieutenant governor candidate who compared same-sex marriage to marrying a table was so upset by her statement he gave $500 to the opposing candidate’s ticket….Pfauser, who has been in a relationship with partner Rob Gow for 18 years, said he was once very close to his niece.

Since this is an open thread…

In a bizarre event that boggles my mind, Tommy Friedman wrote a column that makes sense, except for his reflexive dig at the public service unions. It’s called “Can’t Keep a Bad Idea Down”, about how Republicans are pushing the same ideas that got us into our current mess. (I’m not linking on general principles. If he can write good columns for an entire Friedman Unit I might start.)

Our problems must be pretty bad if somebody as clueless as Tommy has noticed.

    @Scamp Dog:

Man, they were talking about that column on Morning Blow yesterday after Mika read a print of the first Graf. Then, all of those stupid, overpaid fucks–Scaborough, Mika, Buchanan and that fucking useless twit Meachem were sitting there, saying, “I don’t get it, why do they want to listen to scientists and engineers”, and they need to “:make a climate that is good for business:”, and the American people get it, they know taxes don’t need to be raised”.

All the while, the dumb fucks had the table covered with copies of the TIMES and wired to the gills crackberries and IPhones.

BUT NONE OF THE GODDAMNED LAZY FUCKS COULD TAKE A FEW FUCKING SECONDS BETWEEN COMMERCIALS TO READ THE GODDAMNED COLUMN!

And there is Friedman–once in every 6 months sounding sane and speaking the truth–that rampant spending and egregious tax cuts along with lax regulation was what got the economy in such fucked up shape.

    ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

To be fair to the Rangers, they may have a bit of trouble acclimating to the local environment. See this Texas news reader for an example:
