Man, I am just worn down by my trip. It was nice getting home and receiving a warm (and wet) greeting from Lily and Rosie, but I’m just super tired from everything.

Tonight might be a pretty good hot chocolate and Psych re-run night.

The main usefulness of the stupid rule Keith Olbermann apparently contravened is as a tactical countermeasure designed to stun liberals.

They are reduced to starting their defense with “Well, he did break the rules, it’s true. It was a breach of contract. Very regrettable, unfortunate, he shouldn’t have done that, he was stupid, I acknowledge it was dumb, two dumbs don’t make a right…”

“…but, I say he’s exactly the same as Fox News, and they’re still on the air.”

    Sherlock Holmes

It’s very good. Great acting, very funny, highly suspenseful, and a very faithful portrayal of Holmes as a 21st century sociopath/asperger’s/pick your psychosis and a slightly bewildered but in no way doddering Watson. Light as a feather in parts, but a ripping night out.

So far I’ve only seen the second episode, but I thought it was pretty good, barring some Stupid Screenwriter Tricks. (Really? We’re supposed to believe that Watson — a ex-soldier who saw action in Afghanistan — would just aimlessly wander away from the person he was supposed to be protecting? WTF?) The two leads are really well-cast — as soon I heard Martin Freeman was going to be Watson, I was like, “Yeah, I could see that!”

They certainly were/are. There are a few songs which are integral to the childhood/young adulthood of almost every Aussie below the age of 40…

“Throw your arms around me” is generally sung drunk, and “Holy Grail” is the unofficial anthem of the AFL.

There were a few of those, yes, but the characterisation and slightly frenetic editing just swept me on past that for the most part.

My adorable little darling kitty is doing better, I think, with her hyperthyroidism. Got the cream from the vet, and so far I am hitting about 75% getting it in her ear — got her head twice and her butt once. She is a smart one. Somehow she knows the difference between my approaching her for kisses and approaching her to squirt her ear.

To get back at me she has decided that she will only eat from my hand. Yuk. Wet cat food in my hand. My hand stinks, even though I am using dish soap to wash. But, she seems happy — a small price to pay for love!
