Man, I am just worn down by my trip. It was nice getting home and receiving a warm (and wet) greeting from Lily and Rosie, but I’m just super tired from everything.
Tonight might be a pretty good hot chocolate and Psych re-run night.

Comrade Mary
I just made a metric ton of Jamaican patties and a huge dish of lasagna. I really should work on those pear pastries, too, but I’m just going to plead carb overload.

I got my calendar today!
My Jack is in October and November. It is really nice. You and Laura W did a really good job.
Thanks to you both!

But how did Tunch welcome you back? Does simply not eating you count as love?

The main usefulness of the stupid rule Keith Olbermann apparently contravened is as a tactical countermeasure designed to stun liberals.
They are reduced to starting their defense with “Well, he did break the rules, it’s true. It was a breach of contract. Very regrettable, unfortunate, he shouldn’t have done that, he was stupid, I acknowledge it was dumb, two dumbs don’t make a right…”
“…but, I say he’s exactly the same as Fox News, and they’re still on the air.”

Howard Dean is back in the news. He’s back in Vermont acting as chair of Gov-elect Peter Shumlin’s transition committee. Can’t say I mind one bit, as Dean himself was a very effective governor.

Yesterday finished restoring the old kitchen table I found out by the dumpster.

@General Stuck: Awesome! The table and the doggie!

@ruemara: I’m afraid this batch of patties is reserved for the lovely guy coming over with the chain whip tonight, but I’ll be prepared for the next batch.
Also, I am way late to start soaking my fruit for black cake this Christmas, but even 5-6 weeks should be worth something.

@Max Power: Ha ha. they didn’t get me. I said ‘if KO did not fallow the rules’. News developments over the last few hours suggest to me that there are no rules other than what ahole idiotic MSMBC executives say are the rules from one minute to the next, in an amazingly brilliant attempt to humiliate themselves in public.
Jeebus, what craven asses. As a commenter on another thread said, this circus is shithead money brutes panicking over election results. Teabagger is in, liberals (progressive, whatever you call them are out). I guess in order to appeal to the new wave, the execs think acting like brutal arrogant nincompoops will endear them to the Tea Peoples.

@Tattoosydney: I’ve never met anyone else who knew who Hunters and Collectors were! Are they big in Oz? I saw them open for Midnight Oil in Connecticut in, I think, 1989. (And I love The Church’s _Starfish_ album, though I didn’t keep up after that.)

@The Grand Panjandrum:
It’s very good. Great acting, very funny, highly suspenseful, and a very faithful portrayal of Holmes as a 21st century sociopath/asperger’s/pick your psychosis and a slightly bewildered but in no way doddering Watson. Light as a feather in parts, but a ripping night out.
Mnemosyne
@Tattoosydney:
So far I’ve only seen the second episode, but I thought it was pretty good, barring some Stupid Screenwriter Tricks. (Really? We’re supposed to believe that Watson — a ex-soldier who saw action in Afghanistan — would just aimlessly wander away from the person he was supposed to be protecting? WTF?) The two leads are really well-cast — as soon I heard Martin Freeman was going to be Watson, I was like, “Yeah, I could see that!”
Calming Influence
@General Stuck: Nicely done! I like the dark finish – what did you use, and what do the legs look like?

They certainly were/are. There are a few songs which are integral to the childhood/young adulthood of almost every Aussie below the age of 40…
“Throw your arms around me” is generally sung drunk, and “Holy Grail” is the unofficial anthem of the AFL.

@Steeplejack: The writing is sharp, and like the best comedic actors, Bradley Whitford doesn’t worry about letting it all hang out. His character is the perfect blend of every old-school cop cliche.

There were a few of those, yes, but the characterisation and slightly frenetic editing just swept me on past that for the most part.

Absolutely beautiful table. Well done. And, Charlie is as adorable as ever. Love the photo :)
My adorable little darling kitty is doing better, I think, with her hyperthyroidism. Got the cream from the vet, and so far I am hitting about 75% getting it in her ear — got her head twice and her butt once. She is a smart one. Somehow she knows the difference between my approaching her for kisses and approaching her to squirt her ear.
To get back at me she has decided that she will only eat from my hand. Yuk. Wet cat food in my hand. My hand stinks, even though I am using dish soap to wash. But, she seems happy — a small price to pay for love!
