    Watch “Terriers” on FX tonight. It is one of the best shows on television, starring Donal (the Tao of Steve) Logue as a rough-hewn detective. It is also not getting very good ratings,so I am encouraging viewership so that it might stay on awhile.

    I don’t know how many of y’all have found and loved this site:

    superdickery.com/

    It is full of comic book covers, and funnier than hell.

    Here’s the galleries page.

    superdickery.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=3&Item…

    The best ones are related to Superman being a dick in general, the Seduction of the Innocent (usually related to the Batman on Robin gay theme) and the not-hidden lesbian bondage themes of Wonder Woman.

    Yeah, y’all can hate me for wasting hours of your time.

    Yesterday some of us discussed Republicans rejecting train money in a thread yesterday. Update in Ohio – LaHood has told Governor elect Kasich he will not be permitted to keep the $400m for other transportation projects. Also LaHood billed NJ something like $200m for canceling their project.

    @Napoleon: It might be the rumor spread by Politico. If so, here is a rebuttal.

    @Art Decko:

    It is bad enough that this morning on McClachy (sp?) I saw a story that Obama now plans not to withdraw from Af. before 2014 (sorry, no link – that was on my home computer) that just made me want to spit blood. I have a really bad feeling about Obama going forward.

    @Napoleon: Having just about finished Bob Woodwards “Obamas Wars”, I’m going to wait for a lot more info before making any judgements on that. But the Melissa Bean Politico piece is pure Republican disinformation.

    Obama officials moving away from 2011 Afghan date

    The Obama administration has decided to begin publicly walking away from what it once touted as key deadlines in the war in Afghanistan in an effort to de-emphasize President Barack Obama’s pledge that he’d begin withdrawing U.S. forces in July 2011, administration and military officials have told McClatchy.

    Obama must be hoping that the media will anoint him a “popular wartime president.”

    a little self-promotion…. Been thinking all morning how lucky I am to be on the sane side of the atlantic. The news this last few days has been oddly through the looking glass: the US news says one thing, the UK news says the other (real-world) thing….

    @General Stuck:
    Fair enough.

    To clarify, I think that Obama may suffer from Democratic idealism. That’s the notion that our agenda is so self-obviously the best for us all that everyone will just fall in line behind it. We don’t need to sell it because you don’t need to sell goodness and kindness. He underestimates the forces aligned against him and so he gets played by them. I’d prefer someone a bit less idealistic and a bit more able to kick the R’s in the nuts.

    General Stuck

    November 10, 2010 at 10:35 am

    @Dennis SGMM:

    Needless to say, I disagree, though certainly things could have been done better by Obama overall, I think he does understand the forces arrayed against him, and haz navigated those forces fairly well for a new president on a steep learning curve, sometimes succeeding where no other dem president has ever done, despite much effort.

    If we didn’t have the filibuster, the progress would be much greater, but we do have a filibuster and in the end what gets done or passed is nothing much more than simple math created by a handful of self absorbed compromised senators.

    And I quit believing at face value, articles quoting anonymous sources a while ago. I am surprised you haven’t done the same, being a very bright person. But to each their own, I suppose.

    @Dennis SGMM:

    You know, I’ve seen so many anonymously sourced stories be flat-out wrong lately that I’m waiting to freak out until there’s an actual official announcement.

    McClatchy has traditionally been more reliable than the rest of the MSM, but their batting average has sucked lately as well.
