The O Fortuna movement is far overplayed, especially as it was overdone in the 80s/90s. Though there is one incredible remix of it, called the Apotheosis Remix which is excellent, but hard to find nowadays. Mostly because it was so under the radar at the time it was released as a single. Luckily, my boss at my streaming station has it. :D Give it a listen. I don’t pull it out for my shows very much, but when i do? It’s always a favorite. One of the more surreal bits of my high school years, but memorable as all HELL.
YAY doggies. Though i love ’em as much as my kitteh.
While I’m in the process of objecting to things, gotta object to the dog pulling the tractor. It concerned me. And the dog v. shark seemed gratuitous. No unnecessary fighting among the animal kingdom, please.
As for the rest, not bad.

@aliasofwestgate: I think I’ve heard segments of that remix on commercials. The whole piece is pretty damn epic and a BITCH to perform in one sitting. Basically, that’s your show, because anything else you would do would kill your performers’ voices. The remix uses one of the most common performances, although I heard a rendering done by the Minneapolis (?) Symphony Chorale that was an amazing interpretation.
Late night dog blogging seems like a good time to catch up with Bud’s progress.
After almost $500 in blood tests, vet bills and medication his problem seems to be liver function. Or lack of full function actually. But he is doing so much better now that he seems like a new dog.
I want to thank everyone who responded a few weeks ago to my cries of desperation. One night, before we knew what was going on he scared me pretty bad. He was hogging the entire bed and blocking my feet so I was trying to arouse him a little and get him to move a bit. But he didn’t respond at all so I went to pet him on his side and I could not feel him breathing or his heart beating. In the few seconds it took me to turn on the light and check him out I thought he was gone. But obviously I was wrong. And of course I’m so relieved that I was.
Must be real bitch to be sick and not be able to tell anyone or describe what hurts.
And the dog v. shark seemed gratuitous. No unnecessary fighting among the animal kingdom, please.
So the other, different dog jumping in the lake and emerging from the water with the flopping fish in its jaws, that wasn’t disconcerting? Sheesh.

@freelancer: I really don’t think we need to pass judgement on what concerns someone else do we?
To the contrary, I think we need a FP post about it. Then maybe a second FP post revisiting and rebuking the concerns of the FP post. Finished up with a FP post revising the original outlook of the first FP post. Followed by a FP open thread, and then a perfunctory head-scratching post by Cole tomorrow morning wondering wtf is wrong with all of us, but dictating that the blog stops with him, and he is responsible for everything on the site, even if the readers have captured him.
I was kind of hesitant about watching this after losing my dog just a few days ago. I’m glad I did. Especially the very end where the husky says, “I love you.” Whenever I left Al alone to go anywhere he would meet me at the door and moan(?) like that husky. Only Al didn’t say “I love you” he quite clearly said “Where were you?” Anyone who heard it was amazed at how much it sound like real words. I wish I had recorded it one of those times.

Yutsano. The second piece of music is Mobius perpetuum by Penguin Cafe, to my mind one of the great pieces to survive the 80’s. Carl Orf was an unrepentant Nazi, which kind of contaminates Carmina Burana, for all of its popularity. Slainte

Always hard to loose a good friend. Hopefully you’ll be able to find another friend which will help. Help not to get over or replace your old friend but to help realize that each friend is special in their own way. One is not better than the others, just that the next one brings a new and different friendship.

I did not see a shark. Only two different clips of dog retrieving very large fish. I admit upon first glance, one of them looked like a shark but it was a fish-fish, or is it just me.
Great video. Although I am a cat person, I love dogs, too. The thing about dogs is you can train them to do all these incredible things. And cats, well you know how that goes. Although I did see a man on the teevee one time who had trained cats to do things like walk a tightrope, etc., and I was amazed cuz I thought it couldn’t be done.
Thanks for the lovely video. I woke up thinking that the human world pretty much sucks but obviously the animal world rocks. It was a real mood lifter.
[but my opinion of the human world is still not good]
You know, some of those clips were really disturbing. Why train your dog to climb the stairs on two legs? Kinda reminds me of that book “The Dogs Of Babel.”

You ain’t kidding. When we did it in college, I was assigned to sing second tenor, and I’m a rather low baritone. I had massive headaches after all three performances.
@Kristine:
We don’t know what caused the liver problem but Bud is on SAMe and we changed his diet. Tried the bland chicken and rice diet, no way would he eat that. First time I ever saw him turn his nose up and walk away from any kind of food.

Oh and the second song annoyed me. Carmina Burana, on the other hand, is just overplayed. At least that movement is.

The dog vs shark at a minute in had me wildly applauding. That’s kickass.

4:10 Mitt Romney’s dog?
Carmina Burana was overplayed in movie trailers everywhere during the 80s/90s — it’s been long enough that it’s due for a resurgence, don’t you think?

We just got a new dog from a shelter in suburban Chicago. His current name is Bard, but we may change it. Pictures to come soon.
