    Maine’s new gov thinks that if 35 states join a lawsuit (not win it, just join it), it nullifies the law automatically. Just as insane….the reporter doesn’t even bother to correct or question him.

    And I’ll bet $500 that when someone finally does question this dumbassery, he’s going to blame the “librul media” for “taking it out of context”, natch.

    Wow, does that tune ever suck complete ass. You’d think at some point the producer would’ve told the guy “why don’t you at laest wait until your voice finishes changing beforeyou try to sing. Although, since you are almost invariably flat, you should probably work more on playing guitar or piano.”

    Reading Douthat’s latest, I’m still amazed that every one of his columns can be summarized thusly:

    “Based on [anecdote/one poll/some trifling observation] and my reductionist understanding of politics and history, I will now use reasonable-sounding language to lament the fall of a mythical happy past where everyone just did what the Church told them.”

    Reactionary politics with a village vineer and observations that range from banal to staggeringly wrong: for this, Douthat gets space at the Times?

    So I’m scanning Memeorandum, and I see a group of posts around one titled, “Lefties Hate Israel.” I figure, ok, same old fauxtrage from usual band of Likudniks. Somewhat curious which “lefties” they are talking about, I click the link to discover “A leading leftist website is urging liberals not to donate to Israeal’s fire relief fund.” Ok, so what “leading leftist website” is this? Oh, it’s The Atlantic. And who is the dirty anti-semite who hates Israel and wants to see it burn? That would be Jeffrey “Look at Israel Funny and You’re a Nazi” Goldberg. Yes, the Likudniks and their ally-in-hoping-you-all-go-to-hell-so-I-can-get-raptured Catholic dipshit extraordinaire Jim Hoft have decided Jeffrey Goldberg is a “lefty” who hates Israel.

    You can’t parody these people. They do a better job themselves.
