Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

In my day, never was longer.

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

Despite his magical powers, I don’t think Trump is thinking this through, to be honest.

Republicans in disarray!

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Battle won, war still ongoing.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Sitting here in limbo waiting for the dice to roll

For Nick Gillespie.

Update. Sort of related, since there’s a music video here: Captain Beefheart is dead at 69 (h/t).

Hmm, somebody in there around 50 seconds or so certainly looks good in leather. I don’t know about the song though — no sound here at work.

Since this is an open thread, I have to mention this post by MattyY that includes the following words strung together:

As a fan of David Frum, and of Mitt Romney

    and

at the end of the day Ross Douthat is right

That’s some serious Juicebox Mafia circle-jerking there.

@Joe Beese: I shouldn’t write this here perhaps but my favorite headline of the day was Wonkette:

Tax-Cut Thing Passes House Easily, Sent To President Bush For Signature

You don’t have to think “Obama is just like Bush” or even that it was the wrong move in order to find that depressingly funny, in my opinion, just the idea of signing the Bush tax breaks into law again….. oy.

Time for another moment of wingnut Zen

Looks like another Federal Judge down in Florida is getting ready to rule against ACA, seemingly the increasingly legal meme of somebody got to stop obama and the libtards.

    The lizard brain opines

But lawyers representing the state officials argued that the insurance requirement was unconstitutional because it would, for the first time, require citizens to buy a commercial product.

That’s right, life saving medical care is a commercial product, like buying a teevee, or car, or Xbox. And the commies are out of control, and something needs to be done. This rabid savior complex mentality is sweeping through the winger cadres like Cholera. And I now fully expect the SCOTUS five robed masters of the universe, to save the American wingnut damsel in distress and draw a line on use of the Commerce Clause with the HCR mandate, therefore opening the Pandora;s Box of wingnuttery to go after every progressive law that has ever been passed with the CC.

It was very wise of President Obama to sign his Bush Tax Cuts Deficit Upgrade bill so quickly; otherwise, Republicans may have accused him of holding it hostage until the DADT, START, DREAM Act and government spending bills were passed.

Corner, the answer is transparently obvious to even the most casual observer: because in order to save the country. And you can quote me on that.

But remember, this is only the 7th Dimension of his overall strategery.

Corner, President Obama will select only the very best ideas from every party – Republicans, Tea Baggers, Conservatives, and the Religious Right. The next four dimensions are going to be the deepest, richest ones… the big, fat ones.

That reminds me – Ginni! Four dimensions letters, bitch… C-O-K-E… And here’s four more – N-A-O-W!

Sad news about Captain Beefheart. Safe as Milk is an easy introduction to his music for those unfamiliar.
I picked up a copy of The Headphone Masterpiece a couple months ago. It’s a nice hybrid of R&B/hip-hop that sounds like Cody ChesnuTT was paying attention when his parents played their 60s/70s music.
