The poo-flinging monkeys are apparently all enraged because Obama noted both the Christian dead and wounded and the Muslim wounded in suicide attacks in Egypt:
Here is the offending statement:
I strongly condemn the separate and outrageous terrorist bombing attacks in Egypt and Nigeria. The attack on a church in Alexandria, Egypt caused 21 reported deaths and dozens of injured from both the Christian and Muslim communities. The perpetrators of this attack were clearly targeting Christian worshipers, and have no respect for human life and dignity. They must be brought to justice for this barbaric and heinous act. We are continuing to gather information regarding this terrible event, and are prepared to offer any necessary assistance to the Government of Egypt in responding to it.
Apparently what has the shitheads upset is that all 21 dead were Christian, so therefore the wounded Muslims don’t count.
I seriously wish I was kidding. Jesus would be proud, no doubt.
Would you please just let us know when something doesn’t enrage them? kthx.
So, um, we shouldn’t even try to get Muslims in Egypt on our side by pointing out that they are being attacked in the name of their own religion?
I know the right wing just luuurves to pit Christians against Muslims in their New Crusades, but it’s probably a better strategic idea to get the whole population of Egypt lined up against Islamic terrorists and not just the Christian minority, don’t you think?
Well it just adds to the evidence that he’s a sekrit Mooslin terrist non?
Thoughtful Black Co-Citizen
Reading comprehenshun. They haz not got it.
@Cat Lady: The instant a Republican president is sworn in.
@Mnemosyne: In the words of David Byrne, “Stop making sense.”
“Deaths and injured” from “Christians and Muslims” isn’t really that hard to parse, is it, even for crazy people?
West of the Cascades
It’s like miscounting Civil War dead – “50,000 dead at Gettysburg” (when it was about 6,000 dead and the remainder wounded and missing). Casualties only count if people die.
And, apparently, if people are Christians. I’m in the part of Howard Zinn’s “People’s History of the U.S.” discussing our glorious conquest of the Philippines and the way that brown people’s deaths were mostly (but not entirely) ignored in that war of “civilization” which the President at that time thought he’d gotten instructions from God to undertake.
The thing is, President McKinley wasn’t paying any attention to the message the God he supposedly followed laid down (along with these morans today), shit about loving your neighbors and your enemies and turning the other cheek and sitting down to eat with and accepting people who are different. Nope – “different” people just don’t count.
It doesn’t matter what Obama said; if he had ignored the injured Muslims, they would have flung poo over that “oversight”, too. The Right has been radicalized to the point that poo should always be flung, regardless. Fuckers.
What color is the sky in their world?
Thoughtful Black Co-Citizen
Provided there is absolutely no chance the fRighties screaming “MORE WAR!” will have to play Hunt the IED. Seriously, I wish there was a way to convince them Obama was about to bring back the draft. Half those dumb fucks would suffer fatal gunshot wounds while attempting to shoot off a toe.
The statement is absolutely accurate and complete. He carefully covers each and every possible point, including theirs:
“The perpetrators of this attack were clearly targeting Christian worshippers, and have no respect for human life and dignity,”
All it proves is he can’t say anything without them jumping on it.
@kay: Yes. All their manufactured outrage exhausts me, which is probably part of the point.
Coptic Christians have been kicked to the curb for years in Egypt and have long been rendered relatively powerless. This sick act reeks of the kind of ethnic cleansing that you have been seeing in the Muslim world for a while now, actions not only against Christians, but also against minority Muslim sects.
Obama is demonstrating admirable statesman-like clarity of vision here. Those who mindlessly seek to attack him on this are pathetic, small minded fools.
Speaking of which, have we heard from Sarah Palin on this?
It’s going to be a long 2011.
Brick Oven Bill
When considering the alphatude of a Muslim, one must view the dimensions of his zebibah. In order to expand our collective understanding of these wonderous cultures, the following two photographs are presented:
The omega Muslim is on the right in this photo, the beta Muslim on the left. The one on the right appears to rarely bang him head against the ground while praying. Perhaps he will become an apostate like Barry.
Now…Behold the Alpha Muslim, characterized by an apparently cracked cranium.
This looks like a task for the Protectorate of Missions. Obama doesn’t have that power constitutionally or by treaty. I wonder if the French still do?
I agree though. Had Obama said nothing…being that no Americans were involved it is not a concern for his office…there would be talk of a cover up. Also, they would complain that he wasn’t making all the muslims apologize.
He should just say “muslim terrorists suck” and leave it at that.
@Brick Oven Bill: You were barely tolerable when you weren’t pretending to be a racist asshole. What size do you wear your white sheet in?
OT, but Kay, I hope you noticed you got a nice shout out from Steve Benen re your excellent post about Kerry and McCain. Not sure exactly what day, but it was sometime during the vague ether of the holiday season.
You iz famouser now!
@Yutsano: One size fits all.
Not if your goal is to foment a war between Christianity and Islam, which certainly seems like the goal of the Christian extremists. You just have to realize that the real argument isn’t between the Christians and the Muslims. It’s between the moderates who want peace and the extremists who want a clash of civilizations. In that fight, Christian zealots are on bin Laden’s side.
@Brick Oven Bill:
I usually don’t feed your type, but for the sake of whatever you deem to be sacred or holy, please shut the fuck up. I don’t know if you’re a real troll or some half-assed spoof of a troll, but trying to make your pathetic talking points on the backs of real life dead people is nauseating.
Actually the sky is black. Makes black and brown people much harder to see (and scarier too!) but if you’re pasty white (or wearing a sheet) you stand out much better. Makes it easier for them to feel that the only ones that can be seen, be counted, and that’s white.
It’s so nuts, because Bush (as President) used to do the same thing. It’s clearly the policy and practice of the United States to make a clear and constant rhetorical distinction between terrorists and Muslims. Over and over and over…it’s deliberate, as you know. They’re saying something when they do that.
I mean, they may not buy it, but it is the official position, consistent, Clinton, Bush, Obama.
I think they’re poor listeners, in addition to the reading comprehension problems. They still don’t get what that might be about, or why the US President might phrase it that way, which is amazing, after all this time.
Or they just don’t care and seize upon any opportunity to criticize Obama, regardless if the reasoning makes any sense. We are not dealing with rational actors here.
The lizard brain focuses on fear and probes it’s perimeter for vulnerabilities to target the primal zone of the average well scrubbed citizenry. Why do you think they have been softening up the mushy synapses of mall shoppers and soccer moms, all these last two years with non stop absurd, yet once said, forever heard images and rhetoric about teh maybe Muslim terrorist sympathizer presnit Obama?
So when shit like this happens and American Christians can make a connection to even foreign victims in a strange land. They give secret seminars on this in the basement of The Heritage Foundation. The beam of fear begins there, or in places like it, and makes the step by step journey to Fox News, then the signal is picked up by FN competitors, hoping to pry away a few of the dimwitted wingnuts and others huddled around the teevee sets waiting to hear familiar lies.
Bill E Pilgrim
I don’t understand, Obama has mentioned more than once how Muslims were among those killed in the WTC attack of 2001. Did they flip out each of those times also?
“I don’t understand”, listen to me. Someday I’ll learn.
@Ruckus: Know what makes them even easier to see?
(I’m probably going to regret this…)
An extra hole in the front and a red splotch on the back of the hood.
Thanks, eemom. I did see it, because valdivia pointed it out.
I was flattered. I read him all the time. I’m down to maybe three “opinion” sites, and his is one of them.
The problem isn’t that they’re bad listeners, it’s that they don’t like what they’re hearing. The Christianists want a holy war just as much as the jihadis do. The Christianists were willing to listen to Bush say the same kinds of things because he sent out enough dog whistles to convince them he was really anti-Muslim. With Obama, though, they’re afraid they’ve gotten a peacenik who doesn’t want a clash of civilizations.
Brick Oven Bill
Islam is not a race Yutsano, it is a Belief System, similar to Progressivism or Teabaggerism. So stop with the names.
One assesses the Muslim by the size of his Zebibah, an observable physical measurement of his religious zeal. One measures a male Progressive, perhaps best by the negative angle created when he sits with his legs crossed. A female Progressive can be measured by either odor, or perhaps some voice-shrillness metric.
We are all kind of the same, all kind of different. It is all good.
I may down to one site, my own. And even question that one lot of the time/ I come to BJ to tell cheesy jokes that would get me banned anywheres else. but I just can’t help it.
Three? Good for you. This is it, right here for me. Everyone else has gone full metal retarded.
West of the Cascades
@Brick Oven Bill: Interesting – per BoB, even in Islam, size matters. Size matters to Bill, anyhow, since he’s the biggest windbag in the comments section. Mission accomplished!
I keep thinking back to this State Department site my sister sent me to, in 2009. I think I posted about it here. It was called “Ramadan around the world” or something. All these photos of happy American Muslims just freely practicing their religion, a web diary, a lot of work went into it, clearly designed for international consumption and good will.
Just so earnest and a little bit desperate and pleading and obvious, in that way that government publicity efforts are.
They’re really working against that goal, ya know?
I really, REALLY want to make a totally inappropriate joke here.
@suzanne: Don’t hold back.
@Brick Oven Bill:
But how does this cross-correlate with phrenology, astrology, and the vapors?
Is it a cumulative effect, or does one supersede the others?
@suzanne: You want us to beg? We’re begging already!
Unfortunately I think you are correct.
Mind if I borrow shitheads?
Thoughtful Black Co-Citizen
@suzanne: Why are we waiting?
How is it possible to be
irresponsibleinappropriate in this area?
It’s like they all have defective Babel fish stuck in their ears that keep saying the same goddam thing regardless of the input.
I don’t think the twit has tweeted…yet.
Inner BoB: “Any size but QUEEN!”
@suzanne: Not bad, I don’t see why you hesitated.
I don’t know whether it’s calculated or not, but I was just thinking that it’s having that effect on me. I was going to look at some of the links at Memeorandum, but it’s just too painful. One step closer to their own little world free of disturbing dissonance.
I wonder what the Christianists would say if they got into heaven and saw that 99.99999% of the inhabitants there were Muslims. I can see them now begging to speak with Mephistopheles’ assistant so that they could make arrangements for a change of residence. LOL
@Suzanne: O/T but how is the new one? And the older one? And the new kitteh?
And, of couse, you?
@West of the Cascades: “Nope – ‘different’ people just don’t count.”
When I worked in the International Medicine clinic in Seattle, I once had an older Filipino gentleman as a patient who told me he had fought against the Japanese alongside American troops.
He told me that the US medics would come to the aid of wounded American troops on the battlefield, but would pass by wounded ally-nation soldiers like him.
The more things change…
Villago Delenda Est
The thing is, the Christianists and the Islamists, with the exception of a few very minor and trivial theological nomenclature details, are pretty much of like minds on most things of substance. Both loathe the Enlightenment and all its fruits, for example.
OK. I am going to regret asking, but what is the Memorandum? And, I, too, am suffering poutrage fatigue. I. just. can’t. take. much. more.
@SiubhanDuinne: The new one is currently placated by my boob, so she’s good. The older one is just lovely. I am good. Except my MIL is still here, so I am fighting deadly boredom.
The kitty is great. I have some new fabulous pictures I will share soon. :)
Degree of hate aimed at the Muslim community in the last two years = insane and friggin scary. Doubly insane because it came at a time when Muslims were deserting al-Qaeda and the other radicals in droves over in the Middle-East. By any rational standard, now would be the perfect time to reach out and build on AQ & co’s isolation.
Unfortunately, identity politics is the only thing the right has left at this point. And winning elections is more important than winning the war on terror.
It’s the place where all the poutrage is gathered into a single distilled mind numbing website. You probly don’t want to go there, but if so.
Bruce (formerly Steve S.)
I don’t know about anyone else but I won’t be convinced of Obama’s Christianity until he lobs a few cruise missiles into Mecca.

@majii: They’d react the same way Republicans here on earth act — ’tis better to squat amongst Republican-controlled, privatized, non-union ruins, than enjoy a more-or-less functioning Republic that, for the time being at least, is governed largely by the other Party.
They’d be off to Hell in a flash, and claim it was better than Heaven, and what they wanted all along.
Not much in present-day politics that doesn’t stand up to a reading of Paradise Lost.
Like a couple other people, I concur. I usually check PJM pretty regularly just to know what the wingnuts are saying, but I’ve had little access to the Internet over Christmas and didn’t get to do that… Then I go on the website again this evening and don’t really feel the urge to click on anything.
It’s part exhaustion, but also a serious helping of “it’s getting old and boring.”
Davis X. Machina
@Angela: Not an accident, after all “I give up” is just a species of “They win”.

The bomber is a clear misunderstander of Islam and, as he banged his head harder and harder against the concrete quoting scripture, to increase his sex appeal, he must have become confused, just ask Mohammed Tahtawi, an Islamic spokesperson. Mohammed ‘T’ teaches us:
“This is a criminal act that can never be justified (in) any religion. Islam specifically prohibits any attacks on religious places. As a matter of fact, it tasks Muslims with protecting religious places of worship for Muslims and non-Muslims.”
This is because the Qur’an is a living document. It is hard to understand it for the zebibahed and Ezra Klein, as it is over, like, 100 years old. It is really frickin’ confusing:
3:151 We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Their habitation is the Fire.
4:14 Those who disobey Allah and his messenger will be burnt with fire and suffer a painful doom.
4:48 Those who ascribe a partner to Allah (like Christians do with Jesus and the Holy Spirit) will not be forgiven. They have “invented a tremendous sin.”
4:76 Believers fight for Allah; disbelievers fight for the devil. So fight the minions of the devil.
“Gateway Pundit” has always been a bigoted idiot. He sort of combines a Klan Rally with the Short Bus.
Feature, not a bug. Money to be made, and all that – there are no recalls on ordinance.
We’ve always been at war with Eurasia.
@Brick Oven Bill:
You are a fucking dipshit. What you are talking about is a religious fad in Egypt. The Egyptians actually do consider themselves a race, but rather than making this more complicated, we will make it simple.
Quit being a stupid, mean prick. I don’t think you are smart enough to understand concepts like racism or sectarian bigotry or the fact that you are not qualified to have opinions about very much at all in the world. I am going to believe that as benighted as you are, there is probably some part of you that knows when you are being a prick and start listening to it.
I can give you a nice deal on a bridge…
@Brick Oven Bill: Oh, fun, let’s quote some more Koran!
31:17-18 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
13: 13-15 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
137:9 Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks.
13:6-10 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 7Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 8Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die.
Oh, dude, my bad. That’s the Bible.
@Davis X. Machina: Right. I am tired of the outrage, but I don’t want to just give up.
He has to know when he is being a prick, it’s the only thing that drags him out of drinking in his basement to start talking on the internet. When he gets that urge he could just shut up and go back to drinking and cooking pizza.
Without, um, checking “under the hood of the bus”, likely not the only tie between “Klan” and “short”.

Several studies have proven that Jim Hoft is the 3rd stupidest motherfucker in the Intrawebs.
Remember how much nicer this place was while brick head bill was gone? Anybody remember what it was that caused him to leave the comment section to the grown ups? It’d be a much nicer new year if we could repeat that event & be free of this useless sack of shit again.
Yes, it would be impossible for someone to reach adulthood without copious negative reinforcement for that behavior.
Therefore it’s done here because he doesn’t give a damn about offending us. This makes him a prick, and an intentional one. More self awareness is probably not going to help, but go ahead and try.
*The new one is currently placated by my boob, so she’s good.*
She figured out her job description very quickly.
*The older one is just lovely.*
Loving the role of big sister, I’m guessing.
*I am good.*
Excellent! We’re glad to have you posting again!
*Except my MIL is still here, so I am fighting deadly boredom.*
Don’t talk to me about your MIL. If I got in the same room with her, I guarantee you wouldn’t be bored.
*The kitty is great. I have some new fabulous pictures I will share soon.*
You are right. Damn me, and my incorrigible faith in rehabilitation :/
Anything that Obama said about this attack, or saying nothing at all, would provoke the same reaction from the Right; all terrorism is Obama’s fault while he’s in the White House. And for an arbitrary period TBD after he leaves.
And this is good for Republicans. What a sorry-ass state that party is in when terror and death look like political opportunities.
@Brick Oven Bill: I’d recommend lowering your intake of simple carbs, increasing your protein and vegetable intake, and knocking off the acid all together.
@Davis X. Machina: Satan in Paradise Lost; was at least interesting.
@Brick Oven Bill:
You’re crawling up the backs of the dead.
Zebibah envy, perhaps?
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of dead people.
I did click on Cole’s link, but I still didn’t get it. Thanks, Stuck, for the summing up.
@Woodrowfan: The Memorandum is the Gateway Pundit’s site? That’s all I need to know. GP is a bigger idiot than the Instapundit or whatever the hell his name is. Ew.
@Brick Oven Bill:
Why are you staring at liberal mens’ crotches so much? Have you really done this often enough that you can quantify the results of your observations and compare liberals’ penises with conservatives’ penises? Does this seem like something a heterosexual male would do, to you?
I never spent time there, so I wasn’t aware of this; I sort of assumed it was a cataloging-without-comment operation.
Think he’ll take the medicine?
No, Memorandum is an aggregator site that summarizes buzz in the blogosphere. You can think of it as a sort of conventional stupidity site. It’s obviously a better site for finding what the wingnuts (including Gateway Pundit) are thinking than DFHs because its algorithms react strongly to many people saying the same thing, like the right wing noise machine.
@asiangrrlMN: No, “Memeorandum” is just an aggregator. Also an aggravator, but I don’t think that’s by design.
Just got back from visiting wingnut relatives, where in addition to the birther bullshit that I have learned to tune out, their latest vehement outrage du jour is that Obama said in a speech that the motto of the USA was ‘E Pluribus Unum’, while they insist it is ‘In God We Trust’, and this proves that Obama is a sekrit Mooslim who hates Christianity.
I felt like they were repeating bull at the time but wasn’t sure; lo and behold, E Pluribus Unum *is* the motto of the USA. You can’t shoot down the lies faster than they can produce them.
From the CNN story:
“Four of them were police officers posted outside the church to protect the Christians worshipping inside, the interior ministry said.”
So, not only were they Muslims, but they were Muslim police officers.
The Coptics are caught in a bind because the Islamists hate them (this whole thing started over a woman converting to Islam to get out of a marriage and the Christians refusing to let her) and their only protection is the state. But Mubarak and the police/security services that would protect them are the most hated forces in the whole country. The people they need to rely on for protection are the same people that you’d like to distance yourself from.
While we’re on Muslim hating as a topic, food for thought: imagine how vastly different the opinions would have been about the military interventions in Bosnia and Kosovo post 9/11, there’s no way they happen.
Poo-flinging monkeys fling poo. Centuries of evolution guarantee it. There is nothing that can be done about it, short of eradicating the species.
@Asshole: He is conservative. Staring at peni (penii?) seems to be the norm.
Wasn’t “In God We Trust” a slogan printed on our money in the 1930s by Franklin Roosevelt the Great Unamerican Socialist?
And yes, they probably were repeating bull; that’s what the whole echo chamber concept means. Striking how so many people who don’t know crap about politics still insist on talking about it all the time. I mean, most people don’t know crap about the physics of outer space either, but that’s why most people don’t go talking about it all the time.
Oh, the subject comes up on wingnut websites every now and then. The consensus is that Clinton was a Muslim-loving bastard, that the Serbians were just misunderstood and were just trying to protect themselves and avenge themselves for the eebil that Muslims did to them in the past, and we should have let them do it.
I don’t have the same level of sympathy for the muslims who were injured as I do for the Christians who were injured. It was muslims that carried out the bombing, and their target was Christians. The fact that they ended up injuring some of their own is unfortunate for them, but to feel sorry for the muslims would be like feeling sorry for the Nazis if Hitler bombed France and and some Nazi infantrymen were injured in the blast.
The enemy we are fighting is a muslim one, so I have no sympathy when they inadvertently injure their own.
And don’t give me this “islam is a religion of peace.” Muslims around the world predominately hate the west. Some engage in violence, others simply sit by and support the violence. A very small percentage actually are peaceful, but this group is not properly following the Koran. If you are a good muslim and follow the Koran, the you are in favor of violence against the infidels and the extermination of the jews and Israel.
Wake up, America!
