Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

There are no moderate republicans – only extremists and cowards.

He wakes up lying, and he lies all day.

You can’t attract Republican voters. You can only out organize them.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires Republicans to act in good faith.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

She burned that motherfucker down, and I am so here for it. Thank you, Caroline Kennedy.

The revolution will be supervised.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Republicans in disarray!

“But what about the lurkers?”

When we show up, we win.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

Open Thread: Toxic Trickle Out of Alaska

From the Guardian, “BP shuts Alaska pipeline after leak“:

BP shares slid nearly 2.5% this morning after closure of a major Alaskan pipeline that carries around 12% of America’s oil output.
__
The Trans-Alaska pipeline system, which transports oil from the Prudhoe Bay field, was closed on Saturday following the discovery of a leak. The incident is expected to drive up oil prices, and could mean motorists face even higher costs at the pumps.
[…] __
There have not been any reports of environmental damage because of the leak. Alyeska said yesterday that around 10 barrels of oil had been recovered from the basement of a booster pump room, and that around one barrel of oil remained.
__
However, the incident is likely to put the oil industry’s safety record under renewed scrutiny, just nine months after the Gulf of Mexico disaster…

Small portable internet will be awarded to the best comment referencing both “BP reps grateful that news broadcasters were otherwise occupied Saturday afternoon” and “reduced risk of road-rage gunbattles in Arizona once gas prices spike”…

    Know what’s rich? So tight are global oil and fuel supplies, ANY disruption in oil ANYwhere causes spot prices to go up and gasoline prices to quickly follow. BP et al are rewarded financially by their very own screwups.

    It’s nice work if you can get it.

    I fear there is a leak in the pipeline the same as all those Enron facilities went down for maintenance; jobs are on the rebound and Obama’s popularity is recovering, too. Nothing like a little oil shock to hurt the economic recovery and get some windfall profits at the pump. Me, Mario George Nitrini 111, Legally Challenge OJ Simpson Case
    1994-1995 Criminal Trial Attorney Mr. F. Lee Bailey to a LEGAL Debate
    in reference to OJ Simpson’s Regular Limousine driver Rocky Bateman
    who regularly drove OJ Simpson from approximately
    August of 1993 to June of 1994. I would REALLY like to see
    Mr. F. Lee Bailey LIE HIS WAY OUT OF THIS ONE……Just Like OJ Simpson Case Investigating LIAR Bill Pavelic could NOT………

    Mr. F. Lee Bailey has posted document’s claiming that he can prove
    that OJ Simpson is innocent, OK???????:
    http://www.baileyandelliott.com/oj_simpson.html
    In Mr F. Lee Bailey’s FIRST Download with this title:
    The Simpson Verdict by F. Lee Bailey, Mr Bailey states this
    on page 14:
    “10 St. John had been his regular driver for some time,…”
    OJ Simpson Case Investigator Patrick Mckenna, according Joseph Bosco, in Bosco’s Book, “A Problem of Evidence,” also claims, again according to Bosco, that Dale St. John is OJ Simpson’s “REGULAR LIMOUSINE DRIVER.” Let us ALL hope that Patrick Mckenna can “ENLIGHTEN” everyone about “WHO” really was OJ Simpson’s Regular Limousine Driver.
    In my Investigations of The Murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman, I have pretty much determined that my Ex–in-Law Rocky Bateman GOT RID of that ‘The Missing Bag” and also got rid of other “STUFF” for OJ Simpson. Just Google me and Rocky Bateman
    WELL, in a June, 1995 CNN interview, it was stated that Rocky Bateman was OJ Simpson’s Regular Limousine driver for OVER 3 YEARS.
    WHY?????? is there NO MENTION in F. Lee Bailey’s Document’s that ROCKY BATEMAN was OJ Simpson’s Regular Limousine Driver?????
    Maybe Mr. F. Lee Bailey can “ENLIGHTEN” everyone in the world about this. Please, Don’t everybody hold their breath at once…….

    It’s likely that this is the result of sabotage by environmentalists, perhaps directed by Al Gore or his proxies.

    We must not give in to their terrorism, and America should respond appropriately by licensing more BP exploration in and off Alaska, whether it be some sort of so-called ‘park’ or not.

    A tax cut for BP would be a good idea, and since the taxes often paid are zero, some other government benefit or service should be substituted.

    Via TPM and Reuters, a man was arrested for threatening Colorado Senator Michael Bennet over the weekend and just last week 2 individuals were arrested for threatening Pres. Obama.

    I know it wouldn’t be a good idea to make a big fuss every time they arrest someone for threatening harm to Obama or his family. Obviously you don’t want to give these assholes much, if any, media attention, since that’s probably what at least half of them are after to begin with, but it seems like it might be helpful if the FBI would release just the number of arrests each month of people who threaten the President and our national politicians. Maybe it would dawn on some people just how much a threat of violence is floating around out there.

    @Mnemosyne:

    Oh, I don’t expect the wingnuts to pay any attention, it’s obvious they live in their own little self-created delusional ‘Murrica where the only reason for the 1st Amendment to exist is so that they can scream about needing their 2nd Amendment rights to “solve” the tyranny of Democrats being in power. But it does seem if it might make the way into the brains of at least a few of our politically apathetic countrymen/women that political violence is actually an issue if their local news ran a monthly story on how many people were arrested this month for threatening the President of the United States.

    @Mnemosyne:

    This pic made me sad.
    Look how much Obama has aged in 2 frikkin’ years.

    Dubya didn’t start aging until year 7 after the Repugs blew the ’06 midterms and even the “liberal” msm got around to calling Iraq a clusterfuck.
    Asshole.

    @joe from Lowell:

    BP should be an American company seeing how sloppy and bottom line first they are about this stuff.

    This is the downfall of America right here. Keep letting these companies get away with this kind of negligence, and with the Supremes looking at limiting class action suits and giving corps more power to avoid suits, we will all suffer (righties too).

    Too bad the villagers can’t wake up and realize it’s their American duty to challenge corporations that take advantage and try to get over on what is right.

    @IndyLib:

    I doubt it. Most of your average voters who vote GOP but aren’t full fledged crazies aren’t gonna wake up soon enough. Hopefully, maybe they will hold some of their own accountable for the words they use to demean the opponent.

    @Delia:

    I don’t know if this is where Cain saw the story, but Think Progress had it the other day.

    Thanks for re-linking. FYWP. That link was working… I should have checked on preview. Oh well.

    @Omnes Omnibus: Read Taibbi’s book. Just another speculative bubble. There is no appreciable decrease in supplies, just a massive increase in the amount of money going into a commodity market
