I’ve been on hold for 45 minutes with a computer company, trying to get a return shipping label so they can replace the motherboard and video card and shitty memory that came with the system they sold me, and if that wasn’t aggravating enough, I’m being forced to listen to stuff like this:
Just felt I needed to share.
BTW- I’m already getting pre-game jitters and it is only Friday.

Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll switch the radio off promptly at 6:30 to spare myself (and my family from the inexplicable daddy-shouting).
Also, too, some good damn news to end the week with.

yup, 48 hrs from now the JETS will be on the way to DALLAS, along with the Bears and President Obama.

This is the kind of fandom I grew up around concerning the Ky Wildcats basketball team. I knew this guy, that whenever they would lose, which luckily for him and others like him, was rare, he would suddenly stop coming to work. And after a couple of days, his wife would call us co workers to come out and help. When we would find him mostly passed out and completely out of it, having not showered amidst several cases worth of empty beer cans. It wasn’t unlike the Captain Willard opening scene in Apocalypse Now.

I’ve been on hold all damn day, the vet was worried Jack had cancer in his leg and had x-rays sent off for some speciaIist to read. Came back negative. We were fretting all day long, talking about what to do to make it easier for a three legged dog. Mrs J went to bring him home and came back with the good news.
Here’s a pretty bird.
And a pretty bowl of stew.

Me, too. I just hope you’re the sad one Sunday night. :)

That’ll suck for Jets fans, because 48 hours from now, they’re supposed to be playing in Pittsburgh. In fact, they would be around halfway through the first quarter.
Or were you trying to be funny, and I missed it?

Jitters, John?
Is that one of the five stages of Steeler Loss?
1) Jitters
2) Anger that Roethloeisboergoer threw two picks in the first half that Cromartie (of all people) takes in for TDs
3) Bargaining with the refs, to see if they can pull off a Seahawks II
4) Depression that the Jets are up by 2 TDs with three minutes to go, and they have the ball
5) Acceptance that they lost the AFC Champeenship
Why not short-circuit the process, and start at Stage 4?
Odie Hugh Manatee
IOW they sent you a good case, hard drive and optical drive? Oh, can’t forget the power cord! Sheesh.
I build custom systems that are fully tested and wrung out before delivery and the only time I hear from customers is when they have done something wrong and screw their system up or they are in need of upgrades. Since the majority of my customers are local, I also offer free system cleanups every three months, all the customer has to do is drop it off for a day. Same with tech support, I am here for them. My only requirement is that the systems I build are built with top notch hardware. If they want a cheap computer then they can go to the Big Box and get one. As I tell them, I am sure they will get what they pay for…lol.
Of course I don’t have the volume of Comglmo Computers but I do have happier customers than they do. Plus they know where I live so it keeps me on top of my game…lol!

I’m continually surprised at the number of people in this country who can’t put together a computer themselves. Buy your shit on newegg.com, put it together using a million self-help videos online. Save HUNDREDS of dollars and have a better system to boot. On the subject of gadgetry, our DVD player crapped out last night (worn motor) and I need to buy a new one. Is it worthwhile switching over from plain DVD to BlueRay? I have scores of regular DVDs and would hate to have to replace them all with BlueRay versions, assuming they even exist.

I concur with our Bears. I think Packer fans are similar; for both of us this game is probably going to be a bigger deal than the Super Bowl.

I did shared printer on Windows. The computers used the computer with the printer plugged into it. This was on the local network.
The printer sharing had been set up for a few weeks, I just added more computers to use the printer.
The internet dropped out and came back some time later. It also went down the next day. I figured it was the ISP.
I thought it was funny that someone said that the internet went down because of the printer.

This is my prediction..weather is a factor. Sanchez does not play well in frigid temperatures. The mob name generator calls him The Dreamboat. Ben on the other hand is The Toweler and I’m not going there but it’s a home game and he performs in frigid weather. (must be his blood)…Steelers win.

@Felanius Kootea (formerly Salt and freshly ground black people):
Yeah, this situation is way interesting. Listening to the BBC yesterday, though, they sent a reporter to a Cairo neighborhood to talk to people who would seemingly be analogs to the Tunisian protesters. They knew all about the situation in Tunisia, but compared themselves favorably economically to Tunisians, and even a couple of the youngsters felt that the government provided them with “enough”. The Egyptian government is apparently worried about food riots, and is subsidizing bread production. The reporter was focused on the price of bread, which is the bellwether for the possibility of unrest. Go figure/

I have to laugh at the thought of Guliani running again. He can’t possibly make it through the primaries. When he tried to visit Iowa, he acted like he landed on Mars– completely unable to relate to anyone who is not from New York City. He looked at Iowans at his appearances like they had two heads and spoke Martian. Plus, Iowan Repubs of late are of the Steve King variety, crazy and extreme social conservatives. Iowa is generally Democratic, but those who are not, are pretty far to the Right. Guliani’s was the worst campaign I have ever seen.

@Cat Lady: Huh. So the Egyptian govt thinks a potential revolution can be thwarted via bread subsidies :). Short-term, possible. Long-term, not possible. Tunisia’s per capita gross national income is higher than Egypt’s so maybe that one neighborhood is not a representative as the BBC thinks.
