hmm. i didn’t realize flank steak (aka fajita meat) was elite. nor “corn puree” (aka creamed corn).

@cleek: Not so much “elite” but rather “overpriced”

Day 9
On day nine of my momentous quest to honor President Obama’s heartfelt and inspiring call to action – “to live up to the example that young Christina Green expected in how our democracy should function” – I have decided to stop letting the foxes guard the henhouse, so to speak. For example, if a CEO fat cat likes to ship American jobs overseas to someplace like China, I will steadfastly refuse to let him or her into my administration if his or her duties have anything whatsoever to do with the economy, jobs, employment, or competitiveness. I have the power to refuse these anti-American turncoat plutocrats, and I promise I will use my power for the good of all Americans, so help me God. Amen.

@SpotWeld:
$6.99/lb at my local store right now. it’s much cheaper than a strip or a ribeye. nobody ever says “oh, look at mr fancy with his strip steak!”
leave flank steak alone!. waahhhhh!

A longer version of Beck’s “shoot them in the head” rant. It only gets worse with context:

Since this is an open thread, and we haven’t had a Site Rebuild thread recently, I’d like to note again that since the new site went up balloon-juice.com has consistently offered a time-delayed version of http://www.balloon-juice.com. I mean, eventually I might train Chrome to use the latter instead of the former when I hotkey to the address bar and type the first couple of letters of “balloon”, but this does seem like a basic error that could be repaired.

The heck with tuna tartare, which is just a fancy way of saying “sashimi.” How about a once-in-a-lifetime musical event?
Just found out this morning that I have to be in NY for work from 1/30 through 2/2. Checked the usual entertainment listings, and found “A Tribute to the Tony Williams Lifetime,” featuring Jack Bruce, Vernon Reid, and John Medeski, at the Blue Note.
I am soooooo there.

@cleek:
It’s all about labeling. You can call cow poop “highly processed corn” and it’s not factually inaccurate.

Something tells me that any tuna tartare at my place would get snarfed up by my new cat, Jake.

No tuna tartare tonight baby. I’ve got an 8 lb. pork shoulder smoking as I type. Had to get up at 6:00 am to get it into the smoker at 6:30, but well worth it.

Remember when arugala was so elite? Good times…

Thanks for that tip. I just saw that they’re playing here in Seattle soon as well. Going to be there as well.
lol
I read the title as being “The City of Derp”.

Oh, man. Uncle Clarence Thomas just had to post to a food thread and make me want a slice of pie, didn’t he?

OK, this made me laugh:

So what do you think the likelihood is of Meghan actually taking him up on his challenge?

@burnspbesq: It’s not really lying– it’s just marketing!

@burnspbesq:
Have you ever had tartare? It’s chopped, seasoned, and presented differently.
