Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Roe isn’t about choice, it’s about freedom.

JFC, are there no editors left at that goddamn rag?

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Republicans do not pay their debts.

We are aware of all internet traditions.

In my day, never was longer.

If senate republicans had any shame, they’d die of it.

Is it negotiation when the other party actually wants to shoot the hostage?

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Republicans are radicals, not conservatives.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

We’ve had enough carrots to last a lifetime. break out the sticks.

When do we start airlifting the women and children out of Texas?

If you are still in the GOP, you are an extremist.

I really should read my own blog.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Wow, was wondering what deep political meaning this could have… then put together the joke. Thanks, fun stuff.

Weirdly, the radio just started playing a song called “Miso Ramen” right at this very moment. It’s kinda good!

It’s close, but most Americans would rather raise the payroll cap than cut SS benefits or raise the retirement age.

The question is how we can convince the 77% to do what David Broder tells them to do.

@asiangrrlMN: I should be asleep but theory and reality often come into conflict. I should be in bed in about 15 minutes when I kick off one last job for work. I did just set the alarm for 5 hours from now. I am very excited to hear it go off. And we have snow in the forecast.

I think that guy who rented Rahm’s house and refuses to leave must be very proud of himself. Or in fear of his life. (Joke, that was a joke, not actually implying that Rahm would cap anybody. Too soon?)

For something completely different, I just discovered Friday Night Lights on DVD, and all I want to say is, Matt Saracen, you deserve so much better than Julie Taylor.

I think the problem is that I got a new TiVo and I lost my extended channels until the cable guy comes and am now suffering from Top Gear withdrawals. Plus the goddamn dog thinks he’s a prince and demands constant attention. I blame the queen. She breeds these freakish things.

What happened with the last attempt?

Combination of wrong measurements and not the best quality vanilla. Or when good cookies go bad. Horribly horribly bad.

@Temporarily Max McGee (soon enough to be Andy K again): Ummm…yeah. Gonna Whiskey Tango Foxtrot on that too. Though deep fried Oreos are serious nom so…

@asiangrrlMN: Simple enough to make. Drop in tempura batter, fry until golden, scarf when warm. Fudgy gooey little discs of serious chocolate nom.

@Martin: Friend of mine in Canada had one. Annoyed him cause he always wanted to go outside. And always bugged HIM to let him out, even though there were four other people in the house.

@Yutsano: Yeah, he goes out a lot. Enough that we’re considering replacing one of our sliders with one with a dog door. But he’s a great pet overall. The kids just adore him.

I’m out as well. Going to try and settle for my usual sleep time without the tossing and turning. Unfortunately without the gin as well. Nights all.

In the late ’70s I ran into a guy named Don Chandler so I had to ask him if he was the Packers kicker. He wasn’t but told the story that he went to SB I and the night before the game was having dinner in a bar. Several Chiefs fans overheard the staff saying his name & started buying him drinks. He said he was quite hungover the next day as a result.

Not that it seems to have mattered to a real Packer.
