Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

These days, even the boring Republicans are nuts.

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

T R E 4 5 O N

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Pelosi: “He either is stupid, or he thinks the rest of us are.” Why not both?

I’m sure you banged some questionable people yourself. We’re allowed to grow past that.

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

Thanks to your bullshit, we are now under siege.

“The defense has a certain level of trust in defendant that the government does not.”

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

He really is that stupid.

Jack Smith: “Why did you start campaigning in the middle of my investigation?!”

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

‘Museums aren’t America’s attic for its racist shit.’

Peak wingnut was a lie.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

    THANK GOD.

May I take a time out to say John Cole is a very gracious host, especially given the circumstances? I wouldn’t be able to put threads if the situation was reversed; I’d be catatonic. Yeah, the Steelers won twice recently, and were impressive especially in the second half, but a loss is still tough for a fan. I like the Steelers, but I love the Packers. Hell, my parents were at the Ice Bowl, and a couple of the other Lombardi championships. And the NFL threads here have been really fun, especially with all the Packers faithful.

The Packers had a ridiculous number of injuries, were a 6th-seed wild card, played on the road throughout the playoffs, and faced six must-win games in a row to pull this off. Well done.

And that’s all you need to know. Namath accomplished virtually nothing in football other than that game, and even then he was almost completely irrelevant to the outcome. For those who remember, like me (Christ, I’m getting old), Namath’s contribution was primarily watching from the sidelines as the Colts blew scoring chance after scoring chance. The rest of his career was marked by grotesque hype, underachievement, and horrific acting that would have embarrassed O.J. Simpson.
