Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

No one could have predicted…

I would gladly pay you tuesday for a hamburger today.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Their shamelessness is their super power.

Republicans in disarray!

Also, are you sure you want people to rate your comments?

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Their freedom requires your slavery.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

People identifying as christian while ignoring christ and his teachings is a strange thing indeed.

If you don’t believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love isn’t freedom, it is privilege.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Bad people in a position to do bad things will do bad things because they are bad people. End of story.

Books are my comfort food!

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

The poor and middle-class pay taxes, the rich pay accountants, the wealthy pay politicians.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

    @Phyllis:
Yeah, agreed. While it’s kind of funny in one way, it’s really sad in another. He needs help and it doesn’t look like he’s getting it. I saw something where he’s getting rehab at home. Rehab at home? How does that even work? “Okay Charlie, now you can’t go into the room with the liquor cabinet, okay?” Huh?

“it took some work” – what’s this a euphamism for then? He wanted to watch while you and one of the hookers mopped the bathroom naked?

I just ran across and installed the Super Bowl XLV program and game guide iPad apps. Pretty good for free stuff. Nice spotlight on both teams and some great videos. Since I am not a huge sports fan, I prefer stuff like this to sitting through the endless pre game crap on the teevee. That said,

    Go Packers.

Btw, we watched ‘Who is Harry Nilsson’ last night. Well done, with unvarnished interviews with many colleagues and friends. My takeaway? Harry was a singular talent with an incredible voice. John Lennon? Kind of a sh*t, actually.

@jurassicpork You know… I guess I’m of the faint of heart in that list you put up, as I am feeling sick from reading that list of crap Reagan did. Not much of it was new to me really, but all together like that…Yuk! I never did like the guy, and I sure did not vote for him, and considering that I think things got even worse after him, well…. NOT good.

On the brighter side though, I am ROFling over the picture in my mind of John Cole getting Charlie Sheen out of the room. Way to go! I’m sure it took courage to do that.

I just finished watching CBS Sunday Morning. It had a segment on Ronald Reagan. Made me scream at the TV “are you kidding” and “bullshit” several times. I am just appalled at the lies and omissions of the coverage of dear ole Ronnie. He was the original racist, sexist, classist and Corporatist nasty Republican President of modern America. I hate how the media allows/promotes this sainting of Ronald Reagan. He is directly responsible for much of the pain and problems the US and the world face today. Ugh.

G and I just got back from a lovely tramp through the snowpocalypse. I am very glad I spent the last 6 weeks buying things like snow boots and ski jackets. Shoulda put on the long underwear I brought — my legs are frickin’ freezing. Now we’re just waiting for his brother to come pick us up for brunch.

Very solid defensive performance by Liverpool. They leapfrog Sunderland into sixth place. Chelsea’s championship hopes probably gone.

The big four are ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool. Spurs are interlopers, and ManCity are nouveau riche neighbors who are wrecking the neighborhood by building a McMansion and racing their Lamborghinis up and down the street after nidnight.
