Sarah Palin’s Verbal Obama/Egypt-Related Diarrhea: It’s Worse Than We Thought

This post is in: Lies, Damned Lies, and Sarah Palin

FacebookTweetEmail

She’s STILL talking!

A couple days ago I tried to make sense of Sarah Palin’s verbally craptastic criticism of Obama’s handling of the situation in Egypt.

Well today, the Internet Lords have blessed us with more bullshit from Our Lady of Lock and Load, and it’s even more funny, gastrically distressing, mind-numbing blisteringly stupid than I could have imagined. Once more unto the breach, dear friends:

Full Text:

“Remember, President Reagan lived that mantra trust but verify. We want to be able to trust those who are screaming for democracy there in Egypt, that it is a true sincere desire for freedoms. And the challenge that we have though, is how do we verify what it is that we are being told, what it is that the American public is being fed via media, via the protestors, via the government there in Egypt in order for us to really have some sound information to make wise decisions on what our position is. Trust but verify, and try to understand is what I would hope our leaders are engaged in right now. Who’s going to fill the void? Mubarak, he’s gone, one way or the other. He is not going to be the leader of Egypt. That’s a given. So now the information needs to be gathered and understood as to who it will be that fills now the void in the government. Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood? We should not stand for that, or with that or by that. Any radical Islamists, no that is not who we should be supporting and standing by. So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support.”

Full Text with Peanut Gallery Comments:

“Remember, President Reagan lived that mantra trust but verify. [Will the Reagan-fellating ever end? Besides, I thought he lived the mantra “make shit up; remember nothing.”] We want to be able to trust those who are screaming for democracy there in Egypt [“We”? Who is “we”? In fact, who the fuck are you, exactly?], that it is a true sincere desire for freedoms [right, because they are risking their lives right now in the hopes that they will be further repressed]. And the challenge that we have though, is how do we verify what it is that we are being told [I would suggest reading and resear– never mind], what it is that the American public is being fed via media [This concern makes sense; you work for Fox News after all and nothing you and your cronies feed the American public is anything close to the truth], via the protestors [only a person who deals in propaganda and lies would be concerned about whether the protestors themselves are, at best, a bunch of ignorant dipshits and, at worst, an army of liars and charlatans intent on overthrowing the government for no good fucking reason — wait, are we talking about Egypt?], via the government there in Egypt [only a government official — pardon me — an ex-government official known for lying, ethical breaches, and shady underhanded dealings would be concerned about a public being fed lies] in order for us to really have some sound information to make wise decisions on what our position is [um, what is this “us” shit? “our position”? Listen up Sarah: YOU ARE NOBODY. You’re a half-term, half-witted, quitter, bereft of any intelligence or common sense. Every decision you make is unwise, so do us all a favor: sit down and STFU.] Trust but verify, and try to understand is what I would hope our leaders are engaged in right now [::blank stare::]. Who’s going to fill the void? [In your head? I’m afraid that’s a lost cause.] Mubarak, he’s gone, one way or the other. He is not going to be the leader of Egypt. That’s a given. [Oh is it? Now you’re an expert in foreign policy? I’ll tell you what’s a given: you don’t have a fucking clue what you are talking about. I’ll give you a dollar if you can locate Egypt on a map. Can’t do it? Didn’t think so.] So now the information needs to be gathered and understood as to who it will be that fills now the void in the government. Is it going to be the Muslim Brotherhood? [Here we go… any organization that has the world “Muslim” in it must be Al Qaeda — except not really.***] We should not stand for that, or with that or by that. [or on that, or around that, or between that, or next to that.] Any radical Islamists, no that is not who we should be supporting and standing by [or supporting and standing around]. So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests [um… how about 83 million Egyptian people?!] so that good decisions can be made in terms of who we will stand by and support. [::stabs self in neck::]“

As with Palin’s earlier statement about Egypt, this statement contains another delicious Freudian slip: “So we need to find out who was behind all of the turmoil and the revolt and the protests” –– because you see, the morons who are pretending they are going to affix anti-aircraft gunners to their electric scooters in order to take their country back were purposefully riled up by a bunch of rich assholes ::cough cough Koch brothers cough cough::; and Sarah, therefore believes that those who are protesting in Egypt may be doing so based upon false information since that’s how it works in these united states.

Looky here, y’all — Tea Party populism is a lie. It’s fake. It’s a distraction. The Tea Partiers are pawns in a chess game being played out by powerful people at the expense of these dimwitted fools. The Teabaggers continue to support economic policies that actively are destroying their lives; they continue to rail against a healthcare bill that will inure to their benefit; they continue to believe that Obama has raised their taxes; they continue to believe that somehow if they keep allowing the rich to stomp on their heads, maybe someday they will be lucky enough to be rich and they can stomp with glee on some other poor sucker’s head.

Palin’s statement is amazing, not because it has any meaning (it doesn’t) or makes any sense (it doesn’t) but because it confirms that (at least in her mind) the Tea Party Express is nothing more than a propaganda engine.

Behold! The power of Stupid:

***In responding the ZOMG! MOOSLIMZ!! fear tactics, it is so much easier to defer to people who know about these things, like Dr. Samer Shehata, a professor at Georgetown University, who appeared on The Colbert Report last week:

Here’s a compilation in one illustrative paragraph of Obama:

“My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…”

I need to get better at viewing all right-wing bullshit through the lens of projection, because that quite simply is what’s going on. I’m realizing that the reason I can’t wrap my mind around the psychosis that is the right-wing mind is that I’m trying to follow it in a linear, rather than circular, way. Oh, and please let me share this nugget that Digby tweeted about earlier:
    http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/02/palin-colorado-event-canceled-after-onslaught-of-personal-attacks.php

On Saturday, a Colorado nonprofit canceled a May event featuring Sarah Palin, just one day after announcing it, saying in a Facebook post that it had received an “onslaught of negative feedback.”
“Due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Governor Palin and others associated with her appearance, it is with deep sadness and disappointment that, in the best interest of all, we cancel the event for safety concerns,” the Facebook post reads.
The announcement also states that no direct threats had been made against anyone, but said that the “increase in negative rhetoric against the former Alaska governor” after the Tucson shooting “raises concern for her safety and the safety of others despite the call for civility in America.”
The Post points out that May 2 is also the date of a NBC/Politico 2012 Republican presidential candidates debate, to be held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in California.

See, this kind of shit is why I think she really is going to run for president. I think she’s trying to sound wise and serious so she can have a shot at the presidency. She can’t win the general, but I still think she has half a shot at the nomination. I know a lot of people here (and elsewhere) think that she really doesn’t want to be president because she doesn’t want to do the work. I think that’s only half right: Indeed she doesn’t want to do the work, but I think she still wants to be president. I don’t altogether understand why. My guess is that it’s partly that she wants to make this country over as some kind of wingnut fantasy, and partly that it would be a big Fuck You! to all those hateful liberal elitist snobs who looked down on her all her life. I don’t gamble, but if I did, I’d bet on her running for real.

I think she’s focused on the AFTER THE PRESIDENCY $$$ opportunities that unfold for “retiring presidents”, not the whole “shaping the country” thing. She’s much too lazy/unfocused/secretive to actually do the work of being president or being exposed to all the questions, scrutiny, even if her goal was to “reshape” the country.

Apparently not. Yet we mock similar behavior from the Iranians and North Koreans. I spotted a nauseating interview with that asshole Grover Norquist on the front page of the local rag, where he basically praised RR as the Greatest American Who Ever Lived, etc.

Count on some moron in the House GOP to propose putting Reagan’s mug on the 1, 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills to inspire Real Americans to go out and spend, borrow, and spend our economy back onto its feet. Because that was how it worked back in the 1980s and what could go wrong?

I’m embarrassed for this country that there’s a significant minority who thinks this is a serious person, worthy of the Presidency. But, like Reagan, others would run the show and call the shots for Sarah. All Ron had to do was hit his marks and say his lines – Sarah’s job would be no different. For Reagan, it was Mike Deaver and Howard Baker…question is, who’d Sarah be taking her orders from? Tawd? The Koch Brothers?

I, too, think she’s in the race. She’s not smart enough to be self aware of her limitations. She’ll run because 1) it will be personally profitable and (2) because she thinks it is a popularity contest that she can win.
