Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.”

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

No one could have predicted…

Following reporting rules is only for the little people, apparently.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the gop

… gradually, and then suddenly.

The fight for our country is always worth it. ~Kamala Harris

… riddled with inexplicable and elementary errors of law and fact

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

The National Guard is not Batman.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Apart from that, what’s going on this weekend in your life?

Edit: Reloading called up the glitch where the embedded YouTubes re-arrange themselves & don’t go back where they belong until I go back behind the curtain. I think at least one commentor complained about this problem earlier — any techie got an idea why, beyond the usual FYWP?

Waiting to see the freakout at GOS re: DKos 4. Also, have we gotten a Rosie update? Is she wearing an eyepatch like the pirate she is?

What, no post on Ron Paul’s speech at CPAC today?

It’s just so ready to receive the snarky wisdom of the B-J jackals I almost can’t stand it.

Am I crazy (quite possible) or did I simply miss it (also possible), but was there a Thursday Night Menu Open Thread from TaMara last night? I’ve been so busy, I know I’m missing a lot, or catching up hours if not days later, but the TNMOT is a time-trusted way I keep track of the calendar.

And here’s the fuckedupness for today:

    1. Egypt, driven in part by organized labor trying to get people a fair deal, overthrows their dictator.

    2. Wisconsin’s new Governor, Scott “Mubarak” Walker, announces a massive rollback of worker’s rights. Yep, no more collective bargaining for any public worker.

So… ABC is doing a new version of “Charlie’s Angels” and has cast some hottie guy as Bosley. Now, I like a hottie as much as the next girl who likes hotties, but somehow this seems like an affront to the ghost of David Doyle.

Moar cycling for me! It’s a titch warmer now (we’ll actually be above freezing on Sunday) and the pools of slush/rutted snow intrude less far into the road. But man, I’m slow. I need to get fit and drop the winter weight, or else spring will kill me.

I’m sitting in a cheap motel room, two miles down the road from the hospital where I spent 10 hours today. It seems likely that my mother has stage 4 breast cancer (possibly with a side of ovarian cancer) and it’s metastasized to her spine, ribs, and pelvis. But we won’t know for sure because hey, guess what, pathologists don’t work on weekends in this town so we get to wait until Wednesday to find out for sure.

I’m in my jammies, copy of Nixonland in my bag, and I think I am going to start drinking.

    @merrinc:

So sorry to hear that. So so sorry. Went through that exact scenario with my mom a while back. Big hugs. Don’t forget to take care of yourself.

In other news, we no longer have shit all over the floor, the sewer has been fixed, the rugs have been cleaned, and we aren’t living in a hotel any more. This is good.

Also, too, Bill Withers gives me the right kind of shivers.

@Svensker: Um… WOW. Shit on the floor is never a good thing. Good Lord.

As for me, I am feeling lowercase-S shitty today; my sinuses are aching but not congested. My ENT wants to do surgery, and days like today make me think that might be a reeeeeeeally good idea. Probably going to take it easy at home tonight. I did just make a fabulous vegetable frittata for dinner. Damn, I am good.
