I’m sure that you, like me, are eagerly awaiting the apologia from the NY Times ombudsman about how the paper should have paid more attention to the ties between Koch and the tea party revolution and wingnut governors like Scott Walker.
I’m sure it will be coming any day now.
dmsilev
I am definitely eagerly awaiting such. But before I can read that column, I have to meet with a friend of mine named Godot. He should be be here any minute, but after he comes, I’m certain that the column will be up.

Why dig up the past, John? Just keep walking.

You are such a kidder, Mr. Cole! Thanks; I was feeling a little down, as I always do this time of year. I needed a good belly laugh.

I figure it will come about the same time that Fox News admits it flipped the Gallup poll results on union support.
A Commenter at Balloon Juice (formerlyThe Grand Panjandrum)
They did put up this editorial in today’s paper.
So they haven’t completely missed the linkage.
Pancake
Yeah! And a bunch of people have been waiting years to read about the many and tangled links between George Soros and every fruitcake, left wing fleabagger in the country.
andrewsomething
@Pancake:
Sure. But first someone would have to prove that a janitor at a building that Soros owned had seen a prostitute on the street and did not immediately detain her by force until the police could arrive.

Aaaaaany day now…..any day.

An Indiana deputy AG has advocated going Qadhaffi on the Wisconsin protesters.
Nice guy.

The next six months will be crucial.

@GregB:
It’s impolite to impart a love of blood-thirsty violence only to the Tea Party movement, which only cares about limiting government overreach. Besides, both sides do it. I think I saw a sign that was mean to Governor Walker, who only cares about balancing WI’s budget.
Silver Owl
Is it illegal for Walker to use Wisconsin’s assets to pay off his personal benefactors? Specifically setting it up so that he could sell off WI’s energy plants to the Koch brothers for himself seems fraudulent to me.
p.a.
Bobo will pen a column linking a Digby commenter using a naughty word and who donated money to a minor progressive cause that once couldn’t account for $75 (probably spent on crappy pizza) with the Koch octopus and weepily go on about ‘a pox on both these houses’.
Beverley
“The Beast” maybe responsible for saving union jobs across the country. Can you get a blogger get a Pulitzer? One of those “thousand points of light” awards? This is better than the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin Interview.

I noticed this yesterday as a tiny link under the story of Wisconsin’s demo’s, and I am proud to say that my clicking on it made it #1 in the “most popular” for most of the day!

@GregB: Well, that’s just lovely, isn’t it? What a nice man.

@Pancake:
I love the smell of TeaBagger fear in the morning. Smells like victory.
Roger Moore
@Silver Owl:
Not if he can get the legislature to rewrite the law so he can sell off the assets without any oversight. Then it will be perfectly legal and above board.
p.a.
@Legalize: Any of the Madison protesters think to make up a sign saying “WE HAVE 2nd AMENDMENT RIGHTS TOO!”
Love to see the rightards reaction to that.
Uloborus
@Pancake:
Mmm. Once again, let me introduce you to the concept of ‘scale’ and ‘context’. You can indeed play Six Degrees Of Separation between George Soros and many liberal groups. But you play One Degree Of Separation between the Kochs and the Tea Party. The Kochs directly and specifically fund the movement.
That is the difference between real people’s logic and Glenn Beck’s conspiracy theory fruit loop logic.
Roger Moore
So is Anyday one of those imaginary days of the week, like the eleventeeth or the twelveth of Never, or the missing “Any” key on the computer?
Legalize
@p.a.:
Easy. The second amendment only applies to Americans. And as we all know, these protesters are likely outside instigators from Communist Russia, i.e. not Americans. The Indiana AG is therefore correct in wanting to go Kent State on their asses. In fact, he is probably duty-bound to do so.

Ombud Artie will say he is proud of the editor who acknowledged that an error had been made, and that it just illustrates how tough it is being a reporter in these days of a 24 hour news cycle.

@Beverley: How about physical protection from irate TeaBaggist in Hoverounds?
I’d say I want to introduce the guy to my youngest (but safely above the legal age) sister in hopes they’ll get married and I can call him brother. But I won’t lest that be construed as filthy homo-corruption of a young lady.

The ombudsman won’t be able to say anything at all until he finishes spitting the Buffalo Beast’s dust out of his mouth.

A search if the Times’ website reveals that there has been quite a bit of coverage of the Koch brothers and their conservative political activism over the past year. Much of the coverage has been focused on their opposition to health care reform and climate change legislation, but significant space was also devoted to all the money that they contributed to PACs and other political advocacy organizations in advance of last year’s election.
I think there ought to be more coverage of the fact that the Walker’s budget repair bill includes a provision to facilitate the sale of public utilities, which would be clearly in the interests of Koch Industries.
Marlowe
Not sure what the gripe is here. The Times article on the Koch-Walker connection (which preceded the Beast by a couple days) wasn’t exactly Judy Miller hackery.
catclub
@Pancake: ‘every fruitcake, left wing fleabagger in the country.’
Does that mean that Walker is a fruitcake, rightwing fleabagger? Or are some oranges being equated to apples here?
