Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

If rights aren’t universal, they are privilege, not rights.

“They all knew.”

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

One of our two political parties is a cult whose leader admires Vladimir Putin.

Our job is not to persuade republicans but to defeat them.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

Every decision we make has lots of baggage with it, known or unknown.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

It’s a good piece. click on over. but then come back!!

Republicans cannot even be trusted with their own money.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

The only way through is to slog through the muck one step at at time.

I am pretty sure these ‘journalists’ were not always such a bootlicking sycophants.

Let me eat cake. The rest of you could stand to lose some weight, frankly.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

The media handbook says “controversial” is the most negative description that can be used for a Republican.

It’s the corruption, stupid.

    Listening to the Foo Fighters’ new single at progressively louder volumes until I reach “Neighbor Complains” on the dial.

    Found what looks like a decent movie on NF instant to watch tonight. Called John Rabe. Republicans are even more insane than yesterday, and will likely inch a little toward less than zero tomorrow.

    Just about to go start Castle. DVR buffer should be full enough to get me through while skipping the commercials.

    I am more and more ambivalent about Chuck. I was not an early adopter, so maybe my faith is not strong enough?

    I read somewhere Detroit 1-8-7 is being cancelled. I love the show and I hate how often I get hooked on shows that only play one season. Sigh.

    It occurred to me today that it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from the Snowbilly Queen. Has it finally dawned on people that she isn’t a credible candidate?

    @Mark S.:

    I read somewhere she is giving a keynote speech at a conference in India this month and then going to Israel and the UK to beef up her IR credentials. I’m sure we will hear all about it. Not looking forward to it.

    GOS gloats over Palin’s modest decline among likely R voters in Iowa. Why? Are they cheering for some serious Republican daddy as an alternative?

    @Parallel 5ths (Jewish Steel):

    Yeah if Jon Hunstman starts doing well I would worry. It is hard to imagine the conditions under which that would happen, but you never know.

    I hope the final three are Pawlenty, Palin, and Trump.

    @rikyrah:

    She would need to be significantly younger than Chuck, then, because didn’t Mom leave the family when Chuck was 12?

    Not saying you’re wrong. Volkov’s daughter just doesn’t seem much younger than Chuck and Sarah.

    “Castle” is a weak shadow of “The Mentalist.”

    @Parallel 5ths (Jewish Steel): maybe because the GOS figures that if Sistah Sarah is the candidate, there’s no worries about the Republican base showing up to the polls, anyone else is “less pure” and therefore not as attractive.

    Holy freaking sh*t!
    Guess who said this?

    The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives — urged on by conservatives opposed to abortion — has voted to defund Planned Parenthood. On this issue, Republicans and conservatives are dead wrong. …

    If not for Margaret Sanger’s vision and bravery, many poor Americans would have no place to turn for birth-control measures and counseling or for other health-care services.

    To take that away makes no sense.

    There will be no new Detroit 1-8-7 on Tuesday night, because ABC has pre-empted it for their one-hour Charlie Sheen interview.

    Sorry Anne.

    You keep posting these. I keep reading them. I never laugh. I mean, never.

    Are they supposed to be funny?

    Or are they some subtle, post-modern discussion of life that must be accompanied by graphics because TV has addled our brains?
