Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

This really is a full service blog.

If you still can’t see these things even now, maybe politics isn’t your forte and you should stop writing about it.

Quote tweet friends, screenshot enemies.

“Alexa, change the president.”

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

Innocent people do not delay justice.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

People really shouldn’t expect the government to help after they watched the GOP drown it in a bathtub.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Too often we confuse noise with substance. too often we confuse setbacks with defeat.

Good lord, these people are nuts.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

The real work of an opposition party is to oppose.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

They want us to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Focus. Resist. Oppose.

If a good thing happens for a bad reason, it’s still a good thing.

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

We are aware of all internet traditions.

NIXONLAND Reschedule

Turns out I have another commitment this Sunday afternoon, so I’m gonna have to reschedule this week’s book discussion (“The Sky’s the Limit”) to Monday evening, March 14, at 8pm EDT (Eastern Daylight-Savings Time).

The other alternative, since I know we’ll all be sleep-deprived and extra-cranky Monday, would be to set up a “placeholder” post to pop up at the usual time, and let you guys talk amongst yourself without me.

If you have strong opinions either way, please let me know in the comments.

@stuckinred: Go Cats! If we both win today, the Dogs will be playing the Cats. Y’all probably need a couple wins to get into NCAA.

OT, but this is good news from WI (h/t GOS)

Dave Weigel notes that four liberal groups – MoveOn, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Democracy for America, and Daily Kos – have raised almost $2 million in support of the recall efforts.

They also have polling that shows that at least two of the GOPers (in purplish districts) are in big trouble.

@Paul in KY: Nah, today would make it for sure but we may not even need that. It’s the Illini that I really care about in this mess.

Okay, then I strongly recommend we change to Monday evening.
