Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Republicans seem to think life begins at the candlelight dinner the night before.

We are learning that “working class” means “white” for way too many people.

I like political parties that aren’t owned by foreign adversaries.

If you cannot answer whether trump lost the 2020 election, you are unfit for office.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

The willow is too close to the house.

Never give a known liar the benefit of the doubt.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

The real work of an opposition party is to hold the people in power accountable.

Everybody saw this coming.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

“Jesus paying for the sins of everyone is an insult to those who paid for their own sins.”

Our messy unity will be our strength.

75% of people clapping liked the show!

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Is it irresponsible to speculate? It is irresponsible not to.

Today in our ongoing national embarrassment…

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

The way to stop violence is to stop manufacturing the hatred that fuels it.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

Trumpflation is an intolerable hardship for every American, and it’s Trump’s fault.

Quick office pool — what is the wingnut response?

My guess: this shows how weak Obama is.

    @cathyx:

The Libya situation could be a big mess, and is likely to start tonight. Gaddafi isn’t going to go down without a fight and making a big mess out of things, and oil prices are going to go through the roof again.

From what I’ve read, Clinton is the one banging the war drum – nobody else in the administration is.

The older I get the more I come to believe that the ONLY thing ‘conservatives’ really stand for is, “what can I do, to piss off those people I don’t like, today”.

Cutting funding for Public Radio the way the bill passed in the house does, will not lower anyone’s tax bill. It won’t do anything except silence a source of national news if it passed and they KNOW it won’t pass. The Republican politicians know this is something that they can brag about to their base.

I honestly think they did it because, “liberals like it, so we must destroy it”. I don’t think the ‘base’ thinks any deeper than that.

    Balloonbagger Etiquette Update
It is now considered weak and unserious to tell progressives and liberals you have never met that you wish they would “die in a fire” (DIAF). The correct manly phrase to visit upon them (and you know I’m including you, Angry Black LINO) is now “die in a nuclear fire” (DIANF).

I picked Morehead State, but I had them losing to Vandy. I got the Zags over St. John, though. Not bad considering I haven’t paid any attention to basketball for a couple of years. I did the picks in about 10 minutes this morning. I wouldn’t mind having my bracket blown if the Illini beat Kansas, but it ain’t gonna happen.

@Mr Stagger Lee: No way! He’s not as good as Danny Ainge. Someone on TV was comparing him to Scott Skiles. he’s a little bigger than Scott. Probably has more outside shooting range. Not the passer or free throw shooter that Scott was. Don’t know about defense as (heard this, not original) his only defensive responsibility is to not get in foul trouble.

I would compare him to that asshole from Duke a couple of years ago. Plays for the Magic. Decent player, get’s some minutes. Not a star though.
