Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Consistently wrong since 2002

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

A last alliance of elves and men. also pet photos.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Not so fun when the rabbit gets the gun, is it?

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Everybody saw this coming.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

Work Drugs is a sedative-wave / smooth-fi band from Philadelphia, PA. Work Drugs hopes you dance to this song/ take drugs to this song / have sex to this song / sail to this song / freak out to this song.

This is via an excellent local music blog, Tympanogram.

Just read that Nancy Pelosi has been hospitalized in Rome, Italy. No more information than that …

@Southern Beale: I’m wondering how long before the “jokes” start at Free Republic and other Stormfront Lite sites like National Review and Atlas Shrugged.

Here’s a very interesting debate that I’ve been going back and forth on for years.

When liberals state ridiculous things as fact, are they lying or just incredibly stupid? There is substantial evidence on both sides of this argument.

Yes but a liberal said something mean about a Republican once so BOTH SIDES DO IT…. lather, rinse, repeat …

Ironically, I just got a fundraising letter from Nancy Pelosi with the subject line “I’ve had enough.” Hope she wasn’t being prescient.

Define ridiculous. Am I ridiculous when I point out that the CEO of Verizon is the vessicle for Satan’s form on earth? Yes, purposefully so.

Are liberals in general saying ridiculous things when we say that Bush lied us into war with Iraq? No, we were telling the truth.

Seriously? Lee Stranahan? The guy who claims to be a liberal but does nothing but write about how horrible all liberals are? That guy?

Sorry, he has never had anything interesting to say. And before you start parroting him and saying that the liberal blogospere’s commenters never read anything he says, I went on over to see if he had anything more interesting to say than ALL LIBERALS SUCK EXCEPT ME AND I’LL SHOW MY LIBERAL BONA FIDES BY DEFENDING JAMES O’KEEFE! And waddayaknow…still the same old Lee Stranahan.

Anyway, I have a huge bouquet of pu$sy willows in my office, it’s well over 55F, the sun is out, and it’s spring. I still don’t know what I think of the whole Libya thing, but it’s too pretty outside to worry about it right now.

Did any of you know there were “nuclear explosions” at the power plants in Japan?

    http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-belle/dont-let-nuclear-explosions-dissuade-

I’m amazed news like this hasn’t been reported elsewhere. Luckily, we have liberals to get the facts out to us without being alarmists.

Those conservatives at the Washington Post are at it again:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/gifts-of-bogus-statistics-for-the-health-care-laws-birthday/2011/03/18/ABzG99s_blog.html

What is this movement of people on the left suddenly calling “bullshit” on their own side? Is it a quest for credibility or perhaps something deeper? Could it be that some liberals have come to the realization that problems can’t be solved until issues are discussed with real facts instead of lies? One can only hope.

Are you saying that (for liberals) if an author alludes to the truth somewhere in the body of an article, it’s perfectly fine to have total lie in the headline?

No, JWest has been trolling BJ for a while. He/she is a self-described conservative who uses phrases like the racism of the left and thinks Sarah Palin is smart and witty.

Here’s a pretty good remake of an incredibly bad remake of an old, really stupid song that was discussed here last week. (Although I’m pretty sure that the rumor that they simply removed the AutoTune is likely not true).
