Someone explain to me how he is wrong:

A serious leak of classified information has just taken place — which, as we all know, is a dastardly crime for which the harshest punishment is merited. To make matters even more grave, this time the unauthorized disclosure has taken place during A Time of War, resulting in the illegal publication of sensitive information about the nation’s enemy. The leak was transmitted to Associated Press, which then published it to the world:

    Libyan state television showed blackened and mangled bodies that it said were victims of airstrikes in Tripoli. . . . A U.S. intelligence report on Monday, the day after coalition missiles attacked Gadhafi’s Bab al-Aziziya compound in the capitol, said that a senior Gadhafi aide was told to take bodies from a morgue and place them at the scene of the bomb damage, to be displayed for visiting journalists. A senior U.S. defense official revealed the contents of the intelligence report on condition of anonymity because it was classified secret.

I wonder if Eric Holder will shortly announce an investigation to find out who is responsible for this leak? Will the guilty party be charged with a capital crime and be held in solitary confinement near a cell occupied by Bradley Manning? Only time will tell.

And, since he is in the Defense Department, we can keep him in solitary for 24 hours a day, declare him mentally unstable, take away his reading glasses, parade him around nude, and all the internet tough guys can say “That’s what you get for fucking around while in the military” and then make Jane Hamsher jokes.

    Since his inaugural, young Mr. Obama has proven time and again that his doctrine involves giving the American Pentarchy* as much war as he thinks the country can possibly tolerate. The Libya boondoggle is merely the latest manifestation. Young Mr. Bush at least had the grace to build a case, albeit one as phony as a blue dollar bill, that his military binges were somehow connected to national security. He also had sufficient sense of the separation of powers to exploit the War Powers Act of 1973 and manipulate Congress into writing him the blank check—the Authorization for Use of Military Force (aka “AUMF”) of Sept. 18, 2001—that gave him legislative leave to mitigate mayhem through weaponized wizardry at any place or time against anyone who he unilaterally deemed in need of shock and awe therapy. Obama’s Libyan bender doesn’t feature either of these political niceties.

    Pretty eaay. There are authorized leaks and unauthorized leaks. This was an authorized leak, Manning was an unauthorized leak. “Leak” just means that information wasn’t released via the official channels, doesn’t say anything about whether the information was released with the consent of the owners or not.

    It’s simple, John.

    Bradley Manning is being prosecuted because his leaks were injurious to efforts of US military forces and provided aid and comfort to the enemy. The leak, reported by AP and treated as equivalent to Bradley Manning’s by “the left’s most dishonest blogger,” was clearly intended to impeach Qaddafi regime propaganda and was thus adverse to the interests of the enemy and in support of US military operations.
