Not to be outcrazied by Arizona, here comes TEXAS!
Good news, y’all! Life Always, the Texas-based (but not reality-based) anti-abortion group responsible for the black genocide posters (pictured here) which were slapped up all over New York City a few weeks ago, and which prompted this bit of hilarity from Kristen Schaal and Larry Wilmore, are back in business!
Some 30 billboards declaring “Every 21 minutes our next possible leader is aborted” [laying it on a little thick, dontcha think? -ed.] are being placed in predominantly African-American neighborhoods in Obama’s adopted hometown.
They are being displayed for free after the group’s controversial billboards declaring “the most dangerous place for an African-American is in the womb” were taken down following protests in New York.
The Texas pastor behind the campaign by Life Always said he wants to “encourage reflection” about the high abortion rate among African-Americans.
“For too long the scourge of abortion has been hidden behind political correctness,” said Stephen Broden, who is African-American.2
“Liberal interests have deceived our women into believing that the answer to poverty is to murder their babies.”
In a statement, Planned Parenthood of Illinois called the billboards “an offensive and condescending effort to stigmatize and shame African-American women while attempting to limit their ability to make private, personal medical decisions.”
The New York posters, you see, used a stock photo of a little black girl (needless to say, the girl’s mother was not jazzed about it). After the posters were taken down, these forced-birth religious nutbags thought it’d be a good idea to slap Obama’s face on there, because why the fuck not? Let’s really show those stupid black ghetto hos what could happen if they don’t stop getting abortions every third Wednesday!
Except these twatwaffles forgot one tiny thing: OBAMA’S MOTHER WAS WHITE.
Jesus Jones — I can’t handle this much stupid in the span of two days. It hurts my brain.
Seriously, y’all. Can we all get a grip here? Can we render unto one another multiple breaks? I can’t take it. It’s too nice out and I have too much shit to do.
1 I bet you 1 ha’penny and 6 hot cross buns that when these ads get taken down, the jackwagons at Fox are going to start talking about “Chicago Abortion Politics.” Just you wait and see.
2 You’re not helping.

Obama had a mother? I thought he was a blue lectroid from Planet 10.
Emma
Is it evil of me to be laughing hysterically? They didn’t know Obama’s mother was white? They thought it didn’t matter? Jesus. If they ever got a clue they would be scary.
Guster
@Omnes Omnibus: “His mother was a white Kenyan,” explained Guster, who is a Jew.

It would indeed be the scourge of political correctness if Stephen Broden had an abortion. He is right to say that a little more reflection is in order. Now, every month when I get my period I am going to mourn the little Einstein/Gandhi/Jesus/Buddha/Cleopatra/Queen Elizabeth I that never got going.
JCT
But wait, I thought these guys didn’t give a fucking rats ass about all of these precious fetuses once they were actually born.
This is all so confusing.
asiangrrlMN
@Guster: I don’t know why, but you appending, ‘who is a Jew’ at the end of your comment has ME laughing hysterically.
Or, he could be the next John Wayne Gacy, if Gacy had been black. You get my drift, I think. I hope. (The kid aborted could be a really really bad person, too. Also. Also, too.).
We can play this game all day long, but the reality is, we would never know because the baby wouldn’t be born! Did I just blow your mind? I certainly did my own.
Martin
Put the GOP in Room 101 and they’d be watching some guy jerk off over and over again – and each time they’d zoom in and every sperm would have Reagan or Palin’s face on it.
Omnes Omnibus
@asiangrrlMN: How do you know Gacy wasn’t black? Didn’t he wear clown makeup?
Martin
Nuh-uh. That lady was from Kansa. Obama is from Kenya. His dad was Malcolm X and his mom was Dr. Zora from Tibulon. You have soooo been taken in by the librul media.
Anne Laurie
The NYC billboards got pulled, IIRC, because the billboard company found a loophole in their terms-of-service agreement, once the mother of the little girl whose stock-photo image was used complained to the media. Since there was an earlier fooferaw right after President Obama’s inauguration when a clothing company used his photo on another Times Square billboard, I suspected the “Life Always” ratfvckers used this new image in the explicit hope that the White House would complain about the image… and give them a chance to wail for the choir about being censored by Big Brother Government! ! eleventy-one!
Mark S.
I went to a Catholic school and my 6th grade teacher told us she was protesting outside an abortion clinic and was accosted by a Jewish woman (I don’t remember how my teacher knew she was Jewish, or why that was brought up). My teacher claims she asked the lady, “Since Jewish people are still waiting for the Messiah, aren’t you afraid you might abort him?” This supposedly made the Jewish woman pause and, I don’t know, stop having abortions.
My teacher was probably making up this story, but it seems like a common tactic on the anti-choice side.

@Mark S.: You’d think the messiah, being omniscient, would have enough sense to not be the result of an unwanted conception. Whatever happened to God having a PLAN?

But she went to Kenya to give birth. That’s got to count for something, right?

@Omnes Omnibus: Ooooh, snap! You’re right. He did. ::Shiver:: Clowns terrify me.
@Martin: When I talked about the Birther nonsense on my blog, a guy emailed me and admonished me for not seeing the truth. What is the truth, you ask? Obama’s grandmother is his real mother, and his mother is his sister!
Now, OK. Putting aside the fact this would mean grandma had being sneaking around, that kinda puts a kibosh on the whole birther nonsense, doesn’t it? Both his grandparents were born in Kansas. These people, not the brightest bulb in the box.

That baby could be the next Malcom X, after all.

@asiangrrlMN: The birther conspiracies are fractal. Look carefully at any one variant, and it’ll split into half a dozen subvariants. Each of which has several variations…
The only real unifying theme is that Obama is, somehow, an illegitimate President.

On the one hand, maybe these pro-lifers are accepting Obama as our president. Enough with the birtherism.
On the other, “possible leader” is a fig leaf you can drive a semi-trailer through.

Why would the people who think black ladies and their babies are the biggest social welfare burden on the country (ha!) be encouraging more black ladies to have babies?
Oh yeah, they don’t. They will just twist themselves holding whatever opinion will get them what they want. Dishonestly is their preferred method.

Urban legend claims that Hitler’s parents considered having an abortion, but changed their minds. Obviously, this means abortions should be mandatory.
asiangrrlMN
@S. cerevisiae: Better example. Thank you.
@dmsilev: D’oh! I was overthinking it!
dmsilev
WIth regards to the billboards, there’s a somewhat more detailed story about them here. For those not familiar with Chicago neighborhoods, Englewood is a fairly poor neighborhood on the South Side; the residents are overwhelmingly African-American.

Me and my girlfriend aborted the next Hitler.
You’re welcome.

Y’know, if you follow this logic to its end, we have to ban contraception and legalize rape, right? After all, it could create the next Einstein.
djork
Even the African – Murcan Stephen Broden thinks abortion is bad.
beltane
@middlewest: Normal reproductive processes ensure that most of a woman’s eggs go unfertilized and thus unavailable for producing the next Einstein (and lets not even mention all the wasted sperm). The logical solution would be to harvest all of a woman’s eggs sometime prior to her first menses, fertilize them with the sperm found sprayed on the bathroom walls at CPAC, and then grow them in artificial uteruses (our word of the day) in a Koch Industries plant somewhere in Oklahoma. I’m not sure about what can be done with the rest of the wasted sperm, although I’ve heard rumors that this is the substance that makes the hair of certain prominent Republicans so lovely. They say it’s the protein.

on the first level, sure,in the immediate term, you create a lot of unwhite children.
however, eventually they will be overwhelmed by the products of their ceaseless rutting, and will learn to be as restrained as david brooks at a mother’s day tea social.
abortion, they reckon, is to lower income, and higher melanin people, what the pill was to college girls bitd.

@dmsilev:
Somewhat more detailed, yes. The Sun-Times quotes Broden’s CDC statistic (36% of abortions are for black women) without comment and without checking it. It has a link which does not link to any useful information at all.
I looked at the CDC data and it does say that 36% of all the abortions they counted in 2007 were for black women. They did not count all the abortions so they don’t know how accurate that is because they depend on voluntary reporting by the states. Not all of the states reported and two, NJ and DC, rely on voluntary reporting from doctors. Only a few report on medical (that is, drug-induced rather than surgical) abortions at all.
So the numbers are better than nothing but pretty rough. The numbers that struck me were these: Abortions for per 1000 women 15-44 are 8.5 and 32.1 for whites and blacks, respectively. Looking at census statistics for 2007, I see that poverty rates for whites and blacks are 10.5% and 24.5%, respectively.
I expect a fairly large part of the discrepancy between the groups is due to the prevalence of poverty in the black population. Buying preventive health care in general and birth control in particular is expensive, as we all know.
Like so many things conservatives get excited about, this is a problem that would be greatly reduced if we had adequate health care and anti-poverty programs in this country. But billboards and moralizing are much easier.

@Fucen Pneumatic Fuck Wrench Tarmal:
The first level of the plan is to turn (some) African-Americans from Democratic voters in single-issue abortion Republican voters. That will then give them 18 years to refine voter suppression before those kids that haven’t been aborted hit the polls. Plenty of time for Karl Rove I’d think.

@Midnight Marauder:
Stunts. That’s the perfect word for this bullshit. Billboards, “vigils” outside clinics, TV ads during the Superbowl, people traveling the nation wearing slogan t-shirts and holding up pictures of aborted fetuses. They’re all nothing more than stunts, performed by people who have no real interest in preventing abortions. To prevent abortions means to be willing to see people they don’t know and, if they were to be honest, didn’t really like, receive things such as food, health care including and especially birth control, child care, and employment security, funded in large part by their tax payments. They don’t want to pay taxes that other, unworthy people would benefit from, and they want to have their cake and eat it too, in that they don’t want people to use contraception either. They’re not serious about preventing abortions; what they are serious about is play-acting at being righteous crusaders for some tribal shibboleth. They can’t face what their own professed beliefs actually demand, so they manufacture some ritual by which they can fool themselves into believing they’re doing something that actually does further their cause. It’s both pathetic and reprehensible.

ABL, I love you. I would totally have your reproductive-organ-named gaybies in my not-dangerous white womb. It is tempting to outbreed the fuckers and fill the world with spite babies.
Alas, I stopped at two (even that is more than I can handle) and got my tubes blocked. Which i’m sure makes me hell-bound in someones book for “contracepting”.

That’s a biology fail. Men are born with all the sperm they’re ever gonna use, women create an egg from nothin’ every month. You’d need something like turning an IUD into a monitor of the woman’s ovulation so you can know when to harvest, or just keep her in a barn somewhere with no windows or doors where you can be sure you’ll know where to get the egg when she’s made it. Like a common chicken, you see?
