Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A sufficient plurality of insane, greedy people can tank any democratic system ever devised, apparently.

Incompetence, fear, or corruption? why not all three?

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

The GOP couldn’t organize an orgy in a whorehouse with a fist full of 50s.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

We still have time to mess this up!

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Everybody saw this coming.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

I did not have this on my fuck 2022 bingo card.

Fuck these fucking interesting times.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

They traffic in fear. it is their only currency. if we are fearful, they are winning.

[food douchery] Also, everyone knows Zenebech Injera has the best Ethiopian food in town. If you went there, maybe I could swing it… [/food douchery]

Darn and I’m stuck at a crown plaza in Carrolton, Tx. And I have to work again tomorrow, instead of going home. But I’ve been eating well Japanese steak house last night, blue chicken for texican for lunch and some English pub for dinner. And my boss is driving me batty. I think I shall drink much English beer.
If y’all ever get to Memphis I am so there.

OT (and my apologies for it) but the courts just stuck a finger in the eyes of Arizona’s SB 1070 law. Block sustained and still in place. Rulings find the law unconstitutional.

Sorry, Tim, I’d love to but I’ve got rehearsals for a Gilbert & Sullivan show opening this week (“The Sorcerer,” performed by the Georgetown Gilbert & Sullivan Society, playing Wed-Sat at 8 pm. http://www.ggssonline.com for tickets!) and, as if that weren’t enough, I went down a flight of stairs on my back this weekend and I’m hopped up on all manner of pills at the moment. But let us know the next time you’re ITB.

LOL…I’ve been to a couple, and it’s just not something you would do. They are fighting the good fight.

Probably the biggest observation I have of them both was that a heckuva lot of our “leaders” are little guys. I guess cliches become themselves because they’re true.

    Yeah I’ve heard that before.

Please try to leave the city as you found it. Lost items will be posted on Craigslist DC. Lost articles of clothing will be donated to local charities. Lost souls will be promptly snorked up by a passing GOP Congress Critter so I can’t help you there.

Other than the 3000-plus miles separating D.C. from SoCal I am so there. Having used up all of my flying luck in Vietnam I will not in my lifetime board another aircraft. I’ll send good wishes for fellowship and drunken excess from afar.

I’M SORRY. I was a maybe and then you changed the venue and the time and I can’t make it, and I didn’t post like I should have.

So here’s my regrets, ’cause I’d’a liked to have met fellow BJers and been sorely disappointed because things are different in meatspace.

That’s 3 block from my house…I’d join you if I weren’t out of town.

If you’re near Columbia and 18th, stop by Tryst on 18th street after dinner for a mediocre coffee but good hipster-watching.
