Meanwhile, as New Hampshire turns into the confederacy without the humidity, the teahadists are now turning on the only marginally wingnutty:
Police are keeping a watchful eye on Sen. Sharon Carson’s home after the legislator received a threatening phone call about her stand on right-to-work legislation from a man who identified himself as Newmarket Republican Town Committee Chairman Joe Barton on Sunday morning.
Londonderry Police Chief William Hart said the department would be “treating this matter with utmost seriousness.”
“Going forward, we will take every lawful step to ensure Sen. Carson’s safety, and the unimpeded by fear or harassment expression of her opinion and judgment, as the citizens have elected her to do,” Hart said in a written statement.
Carson said she was sorting through emails in her home office Sunday when she came across a message sent by Barton, whom she said she has never met.
“There were some pretty derogatory remarks in it,” Carson said. “I had no idea who this person was, but he immediately identified himself as the town Republican chairman for Newmarket.”
Shortly before 11 a.m., before the 14th District Republican senator had a chance to write a response, the telephone rang. Carson said Barton’s name appeared on the caller ID, so she picked up the phone.
“I tried to have a civil conversation with him,” Sen. Carson said. “But that was virtually impossible. He was very, very angry.”
According to the senator, Barton then began making threats over the phone, stating: “I know where you live, and I’m coming to get you.”
“That’s when I hung up,” Sen. Carson said.
Immediately afterward, the senator and her husband, Greg Carson, filed a report with the Londonderry Police Department. A uniformed officer arrived at the couple’s residence within minutes.
Union thugs! Union thugs!

I saw the picture. Threatening little fuckwit has totally ruined men in kilts for me. I may never be able to go to a Canadian wedding again.

How much you wanna bet that this guy is part of the “Libertarian experiment” movement that seeks to turn New Hampshire into a laboratory for their crazy notions of how societies should function?
Xecky Gilchrist
Clearly the work of liberal infiltrators.

The politics of Mordor, except they’d gladly stop feuding and destroy us first. Maybe if we could pull them out into their own world and leave them be there. Sounds like a good experiment.

Not a gun person myself, but I did really enjoy this part of the article.
Don’t bring bagpipes to a gunfight, Barton!

@Comrade Mary:
I looked at the picture. Bag pipe sales will go down.

that’s quite a specific statement from the police chief.

I went to HS in NH so I have problem if they kill each other. They are quite possibly the single greatest collection on halfwits and fucktards this side of AZ.

The second amendment clearly states that it’s OK to shoot someone in the face. Any sufficiently pure wingnut will tell you this.

FOX will inadvertently inform us that this Joe Barton is Newmarket’s Democrat

@Maude: You made me look. Most pipers I know have the mouthpiece in the side of their mouth. I swear this guy is trying to deep throat the blowpipe.

What is it about the name Joe Barton that makes the holder thereof a fuckwit nutjob?
MattF
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone suck on a bagpipe like that.

@Dave:
Yep. Following up on Arizona, where the psychos got so scary that a number of moderate Republicans actually resigned following the Giffords shooting, and openly said that they were afraid of teabagger-induced hysteria.

Wow. Did anyone read the comments? This guy is practically a hero according to them.

Put the guy in a dashiki, throbe or dish-dash instead of a kilt. Imagine the fun.

Londonderry? Peter King’s best mates then?
Are we soon going to see the “Provisional Republican Party”, the “Real Republican Party” and the “Continuity Republican Party”?

There is no cure when the stupid runs this deep. I’d like to say that I hope the next time she sees this shitheel is when he serves her at Burger King, but so far the observable behavior of the teatards when they go after senators shows that the next time she’s likely to see him is when he’s about to unload a Glock into her face.
So was Giffords. Look at all the good that did her.

@Xecky Gilchrist:
As violet says the comments there are priceless. They run the gamut from sane (approximately 2 percent) to totally self contradictorily nutty. Including insisting that Barton is totally right to do what he did, that he didn’t do it, and that he did it but he’s a liberal plant. Similarly, the affected legislator is a bitch, a tool, a liar, a coward, a plant, etc… These tactics, by the way, are not Republican but are typical of union thugs and the SEIU so we should definitely prevent Barton from being a Republican by throwing him out of the party. Even though he was totally justified. Reading those comments gave me the kind of mental whiplash you’d get watching 11 dimensional ping pong on a tilted table.

Does that ever capture the level of discourse these days in NH? It does. Please do read our NH blog, Blue Hampshire, for more in the weirdness that is our usually rather restrained Yankee state. We were chugging along, doing better than almost anyone else, our last 4 years of Democratic legislature majority, after over a hundred years of Rs running the place and setting up what safety net we had, making some tweaks to the place but nothing to provoke the voters to this sort of idiocy (except maybe it was the gay marriage law). Then last November the Democrats stayed home (mad at Obama or something) and everyone else voted for the letter after the name. I was told, since I was running for state rep as a Dem, that there was no way I could earn a vote because I didn’t have an R after my name. They had recruited this crew, and they got them.

@Villago Delenda Est:
In Orwell, a good Doublethinker had to have a fleeting awareness of the contradiction before embracing it and purging the awareness from memory. These guys are skipping those steps.

eerily similar to the incident in AZ after the election where the state party officer stood down after getting death threats from the “far right”. Just another isolated incident, nothing to see here, no way that the these folks are violent, they just use violent imagery, which is totally acceptable, they’ve told us so… remember?

@aimai:
Man, I did NOT know this was an option. Can we toss out Ben Nelson now?
daveNYC
@gnomedad: Ah, but they also had to purge the purging from their memory, and then purge the purging of the purging. It was the recursive nature that meant that members of the party had to actually be insane to function.
Great book.

Carson is my state senator, and was a rep for years. Just the other day, I was pleased to read in our local free paper that she was against the Right-to-Work bullshit bill that looks ready to sail through to a veto by our moderate Dem governor. To see her targeted by sickos in her own party is both saddening and, lamentably, to be expected. You sow the seeds of anger and hate (and 2nd amendment remedies), don’t be surprised if it comes back to bite you.

I took a look at the piping picture out of a sense of morbid curiosity (I’m a piper). It looks like the set up was off on the drones, and the listing to starboard was a bit odd, but there are quite a few pipers who center the blowpipe. His fingers were flat across the chanter holes, which is a good thing. Summary: He’s probably a marginal piper, who should be ashamed, but probably won’t be, that he sent Carson that e-mail and threatened her over the phone. I used to think that New England Republicans were at least sane. Now I think they just want to let their freak flag fly.
