Ladies and Gentlemen, Sarah Palin’s ethics advisor:

The Alaska Supreme Court has suspended the law license of former U.S. Attorney Wevley Shea, finding “clear and convincing evidence” that he violated professional rules of conduct.

The high court on Wednesday adopted the recommendations of a disciplinary board, which called for Shea’s Alaska license to be suspended for 25 months. The board also said Shea must demonstrate that he is “mentally fit” to return to practicing law before applying for reinstatement of his license.

Beyond spoof, this woman.

    Doesn’t something like this actually improve Sarah’s chances to win the nomination? She can express her disappointment, distance herself and Facebook some word salad about “people should be held to the highest standard” and “rule of law.” She walks away looking like a winner. Villagers get to say she “passed a test” and “holds her staff to high standards” or some pablum, and suddenly her name’s back in the media. Win.

    Losing the affections of Cornel West is hardly a badge of shame. Having once had those affections is a bit embarrassing, but you’re not responsible for every person who claims to like you (heck, Ann Althouse claims she voted for Obama). In this regard (and others, albeit with differing political orientation and prejudices), West is like Andrew Sullivan – only without quite as much reticence, humility, or sound judgment.

    @Reality Check:
    It’s called the Affordable Care Act. It’s already passed and signed into law and provisions come into affect in a graduated fashion over the next 3 years. The mandate seems to get the most attention, but in the long run the system of cost controls and insurance and health care regulations it contains may be even more important.

    We not only have a plan, we’ve passed it. Oh, and not including our cost controls (which the CBO doesn’t count because it’s impossible to figure out hard numbers for those) it already saves as much as Ryan’s plan to ensure that the elderly don’t get medical care at all.

    May 18, 2011 at 8:50 pm

    @Reality Check: The Democratic (spelling is important, little boy)plan (not simply a proposal lie) is to address the costs of medical care overall via the ACA (as a starting point). That has the added benefit of reinforcing Medicare, Medicaid and the economy as a whole. But then you’d obviously rather cling to your side’s disastrous attempt at destroying Medicare in the name of “saving” it. Typical Republican Orwellian inspired framing.

    @Reality Check: A governor who couldn’t keep state-owned bridges from spontaneously falling down on his watch (no earthquake, no severe wind, nothing) will be “your nominee”? You do have low standards.

    @Martin:

    A son fathered by Arnold Schwarzenegger with his housekeeper was born less than a week after Maria Shriver gave birth to another Schwarzenegger son, according to birth records obtained Wednesday by CNN.

    Must be a variation on the Newt Gingrich defense: “I love my country so much I can’t stop fucking women I’m not married to!”

    Actually, with Newtie, I think it’s “I love women I’m not married to so much, that I can’t stop fucking the country.”

    Ah, a spoof troll. You tipped your hand with the “overton window” bit. No one on the right gives a shit about Overton.

    @Reality Check:

    Paul Ryan has already won. Weve moved the overton window to the right successfully again!

    Careful, three rights make a left.
    But in this case you’re wrong, IMO, except among die-hard Fox News viewers.
    (For instance, the Republicans are asking younger Americans to accept changes that make it very likely that their parents will move in with them and then leave them a negative inheritance, unless of course their parents are rich. Democrats have barely started to mine the talking points and arguments made possible by the RyanCare proposal.)

    What’s up with that goofy gigantic black (silk, I assume) floppy bow Cornel West always seems to have on? It looks like something unfortunate I wore in the eighties. It’s more mockable than Tucker Carlson’s stupid bow ties.

    It’s more mockable than Tucker Carlson’s stupid bow ties.

    But not as mockable as Princess Beatrice’s $30K (and counting) thing. (Not quite sure what to call it.)

    And Tucker doesn’t need a bow tie to be mockable, although the tie does scream “Please! Mock me!” about its wearer. I guess the only thing left for Tucker Eustace Fitzdinkle Carlson to add to his wardrobe is spats.

    Maybe a monocle too.

    Wouldn’t that be overdoing it? (The ridiculousness factor, that is. Although given where Tuckie is today, well ….)

    ETA: Or was that a Eustace Tilly ref I missed the first time around?

    @SFAW: Not a Eustace Tilly reference. With what Tucker generally wears, I thought he had thrown ‘ridiculousness’ out the window a long time ago.

    Tucker is the kind of guy who thinks the little dude in Monopoly is the hero of the game.
