Jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs and 2012.

Romney opens campaign, says U.S. “inches away” from not being a free market economy anymore.
And individual mandates are soshulism unless they’re done by states and Obama totally wasted all that money on the failed auto bailout although it’s great the auto bailout worked because Obama borrowed Romney’s auto bail out plan.

Sarah’s hitting the Freedom Trail in Boston this morning. And then it’s off to New Hampshire to see Lexington and Concord!

I have a question about the modern legislative process, esp. on the state level. Seems like once upon a time a need was established, either through lobbying or the citizenry or some horrible thing happening, and legislators addressed that need by crafting bills. Now it seems like our elected representatives are pushing forth ideologically driven legislation without even bothering to wonder if the people affected want these bills. Legislators are just going about their business based on their own assumptions as to what people want.
I don’t get it.

“And then it’s off to New Hampshire to see Lexington and Concord!”
She’s got grandchildren in New Hampshire? I did not know that.

And then off to Plymouth Rock in Vermont.

@Bulworth:
The thing is, the United States hasn’t had a free market economy in decades.
Corporations loathe the free market. They make every effort possible to bring it under the control of corporations.
They have succeeded.

Has everyone seen the “Piper Palin hates this bus tour” video? My favorite part is where she elbows the reporters out of the way. That and the “Roll up the window!” cry. LOL.
She’d better watch out, though. If she isn’t careful she’ll get sent home to live under lock and key like her sister Willow. Can’t have those imperfect kids getting in the way of mom being the center of attention.

@Villago Delenda Est: Very true. Romney is having an ironic and unself-aware “ah-ha” moment.

@Chinn Romney: I can’t qwait till she gets to Lexington & wants to tour the horse farms.

@Violet: I’ll hate on the family Palin with the best of them, but I have to say, the video yesterday of Mom trying to force an obviously unhappy Piper to give flowers to the media just left me sad.
The original “Piper marches right into the reporter’s arm” video was disturbing enough. That is a seriously unhappy child. In all the videos, Sarah seems to be almost pointedly ignoring her children and they are clearly pissed.
Not at all funny. Just sad and creepy.
SARAH, OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES AND LOOK AT YOUR FUCKING FAMILY.

This is how shameless (or stupid) (not to discount the strong probability of “both”) Ben Smith is: With Weiner floundering like a retarded carp on the deck of the good ship ThatMightBeMyCock, all of a sudden he’s on the center-right (along with…wait for it… Chucky Schumer — I hadn’t realized until now that Ben was a crack addict)!
“By local standards,” Weiner is still a hyper-hyper-partisan statist shitbird shill. But he’s a Jew who doesn’t support Hamas, so to Smith, he’s center-right…Just to clear that up. Hit that pipe again, Smitty.
At least he’s better than Reuters, which followed the current journalistic form-book by headlining the Democrat with problems as a Republican. JOURNALISM!

@joes527:
Yeah, that left me sad too. I feel terrible for her kids. She’s a terrible mother and dragging Piper around like this and ESPECIALLY forcing her to give flowers to reporters is just sad.
I can’t blame Piper for being pissy. I would be too. Her mom claims she’s not in it for the publicity, but that video yesterday where Piper had to give flowers to the media proves otherwise. Piper comes out of the hotel, wants to go straight to the car, but Sarah sees the cameras and says something like, “Let me just go talk these folks” or something. And poor Piper can’t escape.
I think my laughing is more at how Sarah, no matter how much she tries, can’t control her kids. Piper is pissed and it’s obvious. I feel terrible for Piper but think it’s funny that Sarah can’t make Piper do what she wants her to do. Piper’s saying, “Suck it, mom. You can’t make me be nice.” Good for her. But I wish for Piper’s sake the whole situation didn’t exist at all. Piper needs a real mom, not whatever Sarah is.

So Goldman receives a subpoena from the New York County DA’s office. I’d be happier if the subpoena was coming from the US Attorney’s office, but it’s a start.
Building a case (if there is a case to be built) will be a time-consuming and painstaking process, that will (and should) mostly take place outside the public eye. Patience, y’all.

Best song about sexual dysfunction ever: “I’m Sorry (I Can’t Rock You All Night Long)” by the Wild Seeds.

@Violet: I think Sarah actually told her kids that this was a vacation, not a media thing. And they are pissed. At least Piper is.

That matches their concern for military servicemember and first responders; great for photo ops, but annoying when they have minds and opinions of their own.

@taylormattd: The PNSFW part is too-close-to-see-anything shots of a woman masturbating because her husband is out running/getting drunk after not performing well.
Also, the song is unlistenable. Repetitive, trite, and might make use of one and a half chords.

@joes527:
There was a time when someone might write about Palin pimping her children for political purposes.
But now that no one can ever use a sexual term metaphorically or in a clearly political, literary or nonsexual context in conjunction with a female political figure or celebrity, well, then I guess that one can only say that …
Nah. It still comes down to her pimping her kids for political purposes. And it’s sad that she is oblivious to their concerns. I used to give her more credit for having some honest concern about their feelings.

It looks as if Sarah Palin actually made some news today. Steve Benen wrote about it, even. In NH on Romney’s announcement day, Palin gifted us with some babble about how any kind of government mandate is very worrisome. The dozen reporters are there to make sure that the populace stays alarmed whenever that woman opens her mouth.
