Saw a friend tonight whose son was just signed earlier today by the SF Giants! He’s off to Scottsdale AZ this weekend. She (friend) is over the moon and wasted no time in transferring 20 years of Braves fandom to the other coast. Pretty exciting stuff.

@handy: Actually, their biggest investments have been in retail. Long-term leases or building purchases, actual architecture, and lots and lots of retail employees. On average, most retail outlets have one staff per 800 square feet. Apple has one staff per 20 square feet. That’s a lot of jobs.

I’ll have to tell my daughter (a quasi-fanatical Bs fan (sorry for the redundancy)) that “meltdown” is the new way of saying “no glove side”. Hell, Johnny Pesky could put one by Luongo’s glove.
Maybe the Canucks can borrow Brodeur? For just the next three games? He went downhill this year, unfortunately, but he’s still pretty decent.
Of course, the reason the “Canucks” will lose is not because the Bs will play better, but rather because God/FSM doesn’t like it when you call yourself “Canucks”, but you’re really just natives of a suburb of Seattle. True canucks are from Quebec, mon ami.
