Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

… pundit janitors mopping up after the GOP

All your base are belong to Tunch.

A Senator Walker would also be an insult to reason, rationality, and decency.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Infrastructure week. at last.

They fucked up the fucking up of the fuckup!

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

You can’t love your country only when you win.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

I’ve spoken to my cat about this, but it doesn’t seem to do any good.

You cannot shame the shameless.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Historically it was a little unusual for the president to be an incoherent babbling moron.

Red lights blinking on democracy’s dashboard

Teach a man to fish, and he’ll sit in a boat all day drinking beer.

When someone says they “love freedom”, rest assured they don’t mean yours.

Let there be snark.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Do you really want some of the sarcastic minds on this blog grading your performance in bed? You’re a braver man than I…

I only wish I could be in Minneapolis. The B-J meetup sounds great, but getting out of this heat sounds even better.

    It’s extraordinarily busy here.

It’s gotta be busy trying to find out which NN organizing moran allowed Calamity Jane a prominent platform on the OPENING DAY OF THE CONVENTION to spew her claptrap to a traditional media audience, thus undermining what much of the progressive netroots is all about…and that includes most people at the GOS who aren’t firebaggers gaming the Wreck List in order to spew the same claptrap.

Mrs P and I will be there, and we’ll most likely be having dinner there, unless someone has a better idea.

I actually had Thanksgiving Dinner at Brit’s Pub once. I would stick with the fish and chips. Anyway, that was about 20 years and 2000 miles ago, but I still have some fond memories of that place. Wish I could be there.

I’m curious to hear from someone actually there (and not in the panty-sniffing sense that traditional media is ‘there’): what’s the relative ratio of activities focused on a) policy/positive action versus b) self-gratification of fading blog whores throwing sad but well-attended tantrums?

I would love to be there to see what this pretend progressive John Galt Cole is like in person. It would be so facinating to see how his eyes light up when he talks about his hero Greenwald and how Libertarians have some great ideas. And how he fully supports Boehner holding Obama’s feet to the fire on Libya.

But sadly, I have better things to do….like clipping my toe nails.

Sorry, can’t make it to Minnesota.

However, I will be at this congregation.

And this will be my session.

Sigh. I was just supposed to be the ORGANIZER. That didn’t mean I actually KNOW anything….

Sigh. Really feeling like such a lazyass for not hauling myself up to Minneapolis for any of the festivities. (Transportation would be an issue, though probably not an insurmountable one – I’m about 10 miles out and don’t have a car.) I just know I’d get roped into something, though, and my self-imposed retirement from this stuff is hard enough to maintain.

Anyway, have fun, enjoy the town.

I’d love to be there, but I’ll be seeing Florence and the Machine (finally!) at the Mn Zoo.

Tomorrow wouldn’t work either, as it’s Rock the Garden time at the Walker Art Center. As much as I love arguing politics, I love me some Neko Case even more.

Heh, just realized…Florence and Neko, pale leggy redheads…sheesh. Even queers have their types!

There’s a lot of policy stuff. The tantrum-throwing gets more attention, but there’s a lot of policy stuff.
A lot of really nice people, too.
