Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

The new republican ‘Pastor’ of the House is an odious authoritarian little creep.

‘Museums aren’t America’s attic for its racist shit.’

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

I’d try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

There is one struggling party in US right now, and it’s not the Democrats.

This has so much WTF written all over it that it is hard to comprehend.

This really is a full service blog.

You don’t get rid of your umbrella while it’s still raining.

Since when do we limit our critiques to things we could do better ourselves?

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

Please don’t feed the bears.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

You come for women, you’re gonna get your ass kicked.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Consistently wrong since 2002

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

There is no right way to do the wrong thing.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

I feel better about it now, though.

I know that it’s been dominating the news for the last ten days so your probably sick of hearing about it, but I just heard Thom Hartmann talking about Osama Hussein Muhamad, the leader of the Islamic terrorist cell who’s still on the loose in Montana after a shootout with sheriff’s deputies 10 days ago. They apparently have food and weapons caches all over the state, and plotted to assassinate local officials, go to war with the National Guard and overthrow the federal government. I hope they catch him soon so I can watch TV without the constant news updates about these dangerous Muslims!

It’s been barfing on us at The Rumpus for a couple of weeks now, though we moderate everything so it’s (oddly enough) a little bit less of a problem than it is for you, I’m guessing.

FWIW, the full story of what happened to a couple of hijab–wearing women at NN and how the flashmob came to be is here.

And Gaius Publius has his final thoughts on NN here. Gotta say I overwhelmingly agree with his points.

I had to Google Akismet. If only there was an easy way to invest money in defense against unwanted online content.
I smell a profit, but alas no clear winner at this point.

From the really odd political metaphors file:

“The last place you want a benefit decision like this that impacts future generations, it’s tantamount to fiscal child abuse, is what we’ve done,”

    http://blogs.sacbee.com/the_state_worker/2011/06/marcia-fritz-pension-reform-fiscal-child-abuse.html#ixzz1PwFWuSBK

Is that us having another Serious Adult Conversation(tm)? Yes, pensions are just like child abuse.

Gotta say I overwhelmingly agree with his points.

I’m very much afraid that you’re right, which means that the left has learned absolutely nothing from its 40 year long abandonment of electoral politics and decided that the best idea is to double down on what hasn’t worked since they gave up on the Democrats in 1968.

I’m going to go bash my head against a wall for a while.

This is probably old news, but, first time I saw it:

The following is ‘biggest TV pundits’, based on an algorithm of media appearances, etc.

Truly puts the lie to the idea of ‘liberal media’, is all I’m saying.

At the time I’m writing this comment, rankings are:

    1. Newt Gingrich
    2. Sarah Palin
    3. Karl Rove
    4. Tom Brokaw
    5. Ann Coulter
    6. Juan Williams
    7. Dan Abrams
    8. Andrew Sullivan
    9. Mike Murphy
    10. John Oliver

Two ‘objective’ reporter, 6 Republican operatives/politicians, whatever Andrew Sullivan is, and the comedian, John Oliver.

    Liberal media, my a$$.

I’m a little puzzled as to those out there in the blogsphere (Sully & others) who now have multiple posts up pointing out that ‘some say’ Jon Stewart was dishonest when he said Fox News viewers were the most misinformed audience.

That can be parsed (as politifact did) so that it’s meaningless but the data is pretty significant and Sully, Politifact et al are lying whores on this one.

Why is that so hard to just say & let the lying whores piss, whine & moan about being called out for being lying assholes.

    This makes sense I guess

At 51-39 approval, Tester most popular sen. we’ve ever tested who trails for re-elect; lags Rehberg 47-45 despite Rehberg’s 44-45 approval
